Reincarnated as a Lizard

Chapter 604: Seventh Evolution (2)

  • Next Chapter

Having finished looking over those powerful evolutions that weren’t suitable for what she wanted, Scaly shifted her attention towards the different dragon evolutions that she felt could be chosen for her seventh evolution.

[Dream Void Serpent]

[Requirements: Dream Magic lvl 4 or above, Magic 5000 or above, Dragon Bloodline lvl 3.]

[Description: The dream void serpent, a unique serpent native to the dreamscape. Capable of using both dream magic and spatial magic. Possessing the ability to both shrink and grow by utilizing spatial magic.

Known to be amongst the more difficult to deal with dreamscape monsters because of its mastery of both dream magic and spatial magic. Making it hard to catch even if it leaves the dreamscape. Considered hard to encounter because of how deep within the dreamscape it resides and the simple fact that it rarely ever leaves the dreamscape unless it runs into a deadly threat- and even then, it will return to the dreamscape the second it feels the threat to its life is gone.]

Funnily enough, the first evolution she was considering wasn’t even a dragon evolution, but instead a serpent evolution.

The reason for this was not just the fact that her dragon bloodline was a clear requirement for this evolution. Making it almost certain she would be able to go back to being a dragon upon reaching her eighth evolution. Instead, the main reason behind her interest in this evolution was the unique ability to use spatial magic to shrink itself down.

No matter how little she wanted to go away from being a dragon, acquiring this unique spatial magic would mean she didn’t have to worry about her size any longer, as she would be able to rely on this unique spatial magic to shrink herself even when she left behind the dream void serpent evolution in the future.

One major flaw with this unique evolution outside of it not being a dragon was the simple fact that this evolution, while unique, was also the weakest of all the evolution she viewed as her potential seventh evolution.

On the contrary...

[True Dreamscale Dragon]

[Requirement: Second Stage Dreamscale Dragon]

[Description: The dreamscale dragon is a small dragon covered in soft glowing scales that are rumored to change depending on the dreamscale dragon’s environment, while its wings are translucent. Making them difficult to spot while making the dreamscale dragon look almost like it’s wearing a thin veil from a distance.

The abilities of a dreamscale dragon are considered unique among dragons, as it isn’t particularly powerful. Instead, having the unique ability to enter the dreams of sleeping beings. Compared to the previous evolution, a true dreamscale dragon gains the inherent ability to traverse the dream worlds formed around large settlements.

The true dreamscale dragon is a more powerful and rare compared to the second stage counterpart and has rarely ever appeared throughout history. Known only to exist within the deepest parts of the dreamscale where no adventurers venture and roam through the land of dreams. Impossible to catch a glimpse of, by anyone who hasn’t mastered dream magic.

Size and strength of a true dreamscale dragon are thus unknown and most abilities remain equally mysterious.]

The next evolution should she continue walking down the path of a dreamscale dragon looked far stronger while at the same time also being far more mysterious, she had no idea what the dream worlds described in the description were but given the fact that she didn’t have to figure out how to enter those on her own, she was understandably interested.

Not to mention, even though most of the abilities remained unknown, she had general idea about how much stronger this evolution would be given how she had already gone through two dreamscale dragon evolutions so far... And if she wasn’t wrong, the evolution this time around would focus on enhancing her dream magic and magic, both of which she was more than happy with.

The one question on her mind was whether she would end up growing any bigger than she already was and if dream magic had some solution to her size problem that would allow her to shrink down a bit and make future dungeon exploration easier.

At the very least, given the description, she felt confident that she should at least also gain some kind of improved hiding abilities given how difficult a true dreamscale dragon was to find according to the description.

At the same time, she also felt like she might end up becoming better adapted to the dreamscape given how a true dreamscale dragon apparently lived within the deeper parts of the dreamscape that was far deadlier than the middle layer that she had previously visited and first encountered Verdell.

A general resistance to the extreme environment she currently found herself in was more than welcome. Especially given how her cold resistance seemed useless in the face of the icy currents of the icy dreamscape region she found herself in.

Still... Tempting as it was to just go with the true dreamscale dragon evolution, her gaze still ended up shifting towards an evolution located third from the top of the list, just above the true dreamscale dragon evolution located forth and behind world devouring serpent evolution and colossal nightmare dragon evolution firmly situated at first and second place respectively.

[Dragon Born]

[Requirement: Dragon Bloodline lvl 4 or above, Strength 2000 or above, Vitality 4000 or above, established friendly relationship with a non-monster faction, helped a non-monster complete a class advancement quest.]

[Description: Dragon Born are not true dragons. Instead, they are humanoid dragons known to be amongst the strongest sentient races of the world. Often mistaken for the Draconian of Dragon Kin, they are above these lesser races and far closer to true dragons in both bloodline, strength and magic.

Size of a Dragon Born vary, though generally considered on the taller side. Standing between two meters to three meters tall. Values strength and is well established within the world spanning Adventurer Guild.]

Looking at this description, she didn’t understand how it could be ranked above the true dreamscale dragon evolution from a glance, but the large number of requirements for this evolution made it clear that it was powerful even though it didn’t actually let on much when it came to the abilities of this evolution.

The main strength of this evolution would be the fact that it allowed her to not just shrink down to a size that would allow her to easily move around, but also the fact that she wouldn’t have to worry about the Adventurer Guild any longer, as it was clear that other Dragon Born had seemingly also managed to join an establish themselves within the guild.

If anything, this might have been a tempting evolution that would have made her look the other way when it came to it following the same template as the Dream Void Serpent in her no longer being a dragon with this evolution.

But... She had already managed to become an approved monster thanks to Verdell, so the temptation of this evolution only came from the fact that it would make her smaller and the fact that it somehow ranked above the true dreamscale dragon evolution. Showcasing that it was undoubtedly a strong evolution no matter how little information on its strength was shared with her.

However, a clear flaw was the fact that compared to the Dream Void Serpent evolution that would grant her the ability to use spatial magic to shrink down even after her seventh evolution, the Dragon Born evolution didn’t seem to give her any ability to shrink back down when she became a dragon again in the future.

The only positive would be its clear strength and the simple fact that she did now know that shrinking down in size was possible by learning spatial magic.

Thinking things through as she continued scrolling through the long list of evolutions, Scaly did soon enough spot the two lesser evolutions that had been mentioned in the Dragon Born evolutions description. Feeling a sense of awe at the fact that those two evolutions were located close to the very bottom of the list that had seemed endless. Showcasing just how vast the difference between those two evolutions and the Dragon Born evolution was.

Still, while looking through the long list of available evolutions, she didn’t find any other suitable evolutions that drew much attention beyond those three.

Leaving the choice between the Dream Void Serpent, True Dreamscale Dragon and the Dragon Born evolution.

Each had their own unique benefits, with one even giving her the chance to explore the world of her little dwarf friend a bit more closely than she had ever been capable of doing in the past because of the simple fact that her size made it difficult to move around within the different buildings and towns.

Not to mention, it was clear that a dragon like herself wouldn’t have an easy time moving around even with her having become an approved monster in the eyes of the guild...
