Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 964: The Tragedy Of The Cold-Hearted Ones
Outside Seth's Alphaverse.
An army awaited, stationed right outside the shimmering white barrier of energy.
The army was vast, not that vast, but vast enough that the end could not be seen.
Arkships, hundreds of thousands of them were already stationed close to the glowing white barrier and many more seemed to be coming.
At the far end and on the sides, space continued to be distorted as more and more arkships kept on arriving through warp speed, stopping just in time before they clashed into anything on their way.
As these arkships continued to arrive in such large numbers, their leaders at the front were engaged in a discussion.
At the very edge of the energy barrier, the Luthor Patriarch floated effortlessly with the backdrop of the vast fleet of arkships behind him.
He wore a full black suit with a black inner shirt, looking like a corporate executive. His hair was still blue and six cat ears still rested on his head.
The Luthor Patriarch who looked like an older and more mature version of Seth, sighed.
The light of the shimmering barrier illuminated his face.
"So, this is what he has been planning all this while," The Luthor Patriarch said telepathically, keeping his hands held behind his back.
His expression was stoic, defeated, accepting the loss of an asset he may no longer be able to control.
"He did well," Zayna said, she was floating beside the Patriarch and she had a defeated expression.
"Who knows how long he has been planning this," Zayna added.
"Who knows…" The Patriarch sighed, "It doesn't matter. What matters now is that it happened and we have to make sure that we are not left behind.
At least, he is sure to become a god now. This wasn't the original plan I had for him, or for us, but it will do.
He has surpassed my expectations."
Zayna looked at the Patriarch, she couldn't read his mind, no one could, but she liked to think she could guess a bit of what he was thinking.
The Luthor Patriarch had been planning for so long. From the moment he knew that one of his children was the Primordial of Freedom, he had started his plans.
For the first time in his very long life, there was hope that he could maybe achieve something more. And that son of his was supposed to be his ticket to a more fulfilling existence.
So saddened was he to find out that his son had already gone to achieve all that without him.
The Patriarch was not a good person, Zayna knew that. The only reason the Patriarch was sad was that he no longer had any certainty that he would be able to achieve that thing that he wanted.
He had really hoped, and now, his hope was hanging by a thread.
*Sigh!*
The Luthor Patriarch sighed again as they waited for Seth to respond.
"Patriarch," Zayna spoke, her golden eyes darting away from the House Master's face.
"Yes?" The Luthor Patriarch asked. He seemed more…approachable all of a sudden. He looked at Zayna, observing the perfectly smooth black skin over her body.
This Zayna was truly something else, he thought to himself within that split second. Although they were clearly not in a committed relationship and tended to sleep around, as seen with how many children they had, both the Luthor Patriarch and Zayna had stayed together for the longest.
How long have they known each other? Pretty much a long time since their early days in Original Heaven.
Was this still a common alliance for shared interests? Yes, it very much was. They were still as selfish as they ever were.
No amount of self-reflection would change that in either of them.
But it also didn't exempt them from the truth. The truth being that their interests were so much aligned with each other right now that it was no different from what the mortals called love.
It wasn't love, never.
It was still transactional, and the relationship was definitely hanging by their shared goals that were just too intertwined.
But it also gave some assurance to both of them. The Luthor Patriarch and Zayna knew that if there was anyone they could ever trust at this given moment, it would be each other.
In the past, they may never have trusted each other. In the future, they may even be enemies, it was a possibility.
But for now, at this very moment in time, they were trusting of each other because they could afford it and they needed it.
Such was the tragedy of the cold-hearted ones.
"What plan did you have for Seth?" Zayna asked.
The Luthor Patriarch pressed his lips together, neither smiling nor frowning.
"One that would have ended with me at the top," he said.
"And Seth?" Zayna asked again.
However, she didn't receive her answer as something caught both their attention.
There was no sound in this space but there was a vast telepathic channel shared by all the individuals held up by the Broadcast Arkships.
So when something happened, almost everyone would receive the simplified news within a few seconds if not instantly.
A terrifying frown appeared on the Luthor Patriarch's face as he released his hands from his back and held them down as fists.
He turned around to the corner, his vision occupied by the seemingly never-ending wall of white energy and a distant explosion.
An explosion?
Zayna and the Luthor Patriarch instantly moved. Their bodies blurred as they sped to the place where the explosion had just occurred.
They turned into two beams of light, finally stopping at the location and witnessing the aftermath of what had happened.
This was the edge, the outskirts of the arkship fleet. All the arkships in this place were at the very edge and were most susceptible to hit-and-run ambush.
The Luthor Patriarch's eyes turned a bright blue, brimming with power as his supreme level spiritual power surged from his mind and descended upon one particular arkship.
The arkship was damaged significantly, bearing a massive hole as if something sharp and thick penetrated and came out from the other side very fast.
All the cats inside the arkship were dead, their bodies floating aimlessly at the mercy of the empty void.
When the Luthor Patriarch's senses invaded the minds of those dead cats to read their final memories, his brows furrowed and intense killing intent flashed through his blue eyes.
