Chapter 156: "Mother Goddess!!"

"Mother Goddess!!"

A group of goblins shouted in panic as a winged figure descended from the sky, her wings hanging weakly behind her while golden light flickered across their damaged feathers.

An elderly goblin hurried forward and caught her in his arms before she could collapse onto the stone pavement, his eyes widening as he noticed the blood staining her clothes and the trembling of her body.

"What happened to you, Mother Goddess?" the old goblin asked, his voice trembling with disbelief. "Who could have done this to you?"

The winged goblin did not respond immediately, her eyes remaining unfocused as she struggled to catch her breath. Her double light lance was nowhere to be seen, and the usually brilliant radiance surrounding her body had weakened to the point where it was barely visible.

"Mother Goddess, please say something!" another goblin cried, kneeling beside them.

After several moments, the winged goblin finally opened her mouth, speaking so slowly that everyone around her had to lean closer to hear her words. "Calamity... it’s heading towards here."

The old goblin froze. "Calamity?"

"They are coming," she continued, her voice becoming slightly louder despite her exhaustion. "Gather everyone... they will arrive tomorrow at dawn!"

For a brief moment, the surrounding goblins stood motionless, struggling to comprehend what they had just heard. Then, as if someone had suddenly awakened them from a nightmare, the entire area erupted into chaos.

"Tell the Emperors!"

"Quickly, send a messenger to the royal castle!"

"Call the healers! The Mother Goddess is injured!"

"Prepare the emergency signals!"

The old goblin tightened his grip around the injured winged goblin, his face turning pale as he looked toward the distant horizon. He had served the Burrow Kingdom for decades, and although he had witnessed countless conflicts between goblin kingdoms, he had never seen the Mother Goddess return in such a miserable state.

She was not an ordinary goblin.

To many of them, she was a sacred being blessed by their Creator, a living symbol of hope whose existence represented the future of their entire race. If even someone like her could be defeated, then what kind of enemy could possibly be approaching their homeland?

Before the old goblin could speak again, a strange phenomenon occurred.

Two beams of pure white light descended from the sky, illuminating the injured Mother Goddess and the surrounding goblins. The radiance gradually took the shape of two enormous hands, each formed from a mysterious white presence that seemed to possess no physical body.

The hands gently lifted the winged goblin from the old goblin’s arms, raising her several meters above the ground.

"The gods..."

One goblin dropped to his knees, staring at the scene with trembling eyes.

"The gods are carrying the Mother Goddess!"

"To think that the Mother Goddess would be injured to such an extent..."

The crowd began murmuring, and their whispers soon turned into a wave of fear that spread throughout the settlement. Some goblins immediately began praying, while others hurried toward their homes to retrieve their weapons, uncertain whether they would even survive the coming disaster.

The old goblin, however, did not have the luxury of panicking.

He forced himself to stand straight before turning toward the nearest group of soldiers, his voice cutting through the commotion.

"QUICK! SEND THE MESSAGE! BRING OUT THE FASTEST CREATURE WE HAVE!"

The soldiers immediately scrambled to obey.

"The world will soon be plunged into despair if we waste even a single moment!" the old goblin roared, pointing toward the royal castle. "Tell every kingdom that the Mother Goddess has returned with a warning! The Emperors must gather their forces before tomorrow’s dawn!"

Within moments, messengers were dispatched in every direction, carrying the terrifying news toward the various goblin territories. Some rode enormous wolves, others climbed onto the backs of swift-winged beasts, and the fastest among them mounted creatures bred specifically to travel across vast distances without stopping.

The emergency signals soon began appearing across the kingdom.

Towering pillars of crimson light rose above several settlements, while enormous bells rang from the highest buildings. Goblins abandoned their ordinary duties, merchants hurriedly closed their shops, and families gathered their children before heading toward designated shelters.

Nobody knew who the enemy was.

But everyone understood one thing: the Mother Goddess had been defeated, and something terrible was approaching.

Inside one of the largest castles in the Burrow Kingdom, a goblin emperor sat upon an enormous throne, his massive body covered in thick green muscles and scars accumulated throughout countless battles.

A gigantic club rested beside him, its surface reinforced with metal plates, while several guards stood silently along the walls of the throne room.

The atmosphere had been peaceful until the doors suddenly burst open.

A goblin servant rushed inside, falling to his knees before the throne while struggling to catch his breath. His armor was covered in dust, and his face was so pale that even the emperor immediately noticed something was wrong.

"Your Majesty! An urgent message from the western territory!"

The emperor narrowed his eyes. "Speak."

"The Mother Goddess has returned from the battlefield severely injured! She has announced that a calamity is approaching our lands, and the enemy will arrive tomorrow at dawn!"

For several seconds, the throne room remained completely silent.

Then the emperor slowly stood up.

"Who has lost their mind?"

His voice was low, but the servant immediately pressed his forehead against the ground, trembling beneath the pressure radiating from the enormous goblin. The emperor’s expression twisted with fury as he grabbed his club and slammed it against the stone floor, creating a massive crater beneath his feet.

"THE MOTHER GODDESS WAS INJURED?"

His roar shook the entire castle.

The pillars trembled, dust fell from the ceiling, and several guards nearly lost their balance as the overwhelming sound spread throughout the surrounding territory. Outside the castle, goblins stopped whatever they were doing and stared toward the royal residence, wondering what could have provoked their Emperor into such a rage.

"Who dared to touch someone protected by our Creator?" the emperor bellowed, his eyes burning with murderous intent. "Whoever they are, I will crush their bones and turn their corpses into dust!"

He raised his head and released another roar, one that carried far beyond the castle walls and spread across the surrounding mountains.

It was not merely an expression of anger, but a declaration that the entire kingdom was preparing for war.

Moments later, another roar answered from somewhere beyond the distant horizon.

The emperor stopped.

His eyes slowly shifted toward the direction of the sound, and a vicious smile spread across his face.

"Good. You have received my message."

The answering roar belonged to another Goblin Emperor, one who had sensed the call and understood its meaning without needing a single word. Soon, more roars began echoing across the land, each one coming from a different direction as the other Emperors acknowledged the emergency.

The news was spreading faster than any ordinary messenger could travel.

And the goblin kingdoms were beginning to awaken.

At the heart of another settlement, a towering magic tower began glowing with countless colors as its occupants received the emergency signal. Goblin mages hurried through the corridors, carrying ancient scrolls and magical instruments toward the upper floors, where enormous arrays had already begun rotating above the central chamber.

"Activate the defensive barriers!"

"Prepare the long-range bombardment arrays!"

"Gather every available magic stone! We don’t know how powerful the enemy is, so we must prepare for the worst!"

The tower’s chief mage stood before a gigantic circular formation, his hands moving rapidly as he adjusted the magical symbols engraved across its surface. Streams of energy flowed through the formation, gathering into a luminous sphere that gradually expanded above the tower’s highest platform.

Elsewhere, the goblin knights were preparing for battle.

Armored warriors gathered in the training grounds, fastening their weapons and checking their equipment while their commanders shouted orders. Massive siege beasts were brought out from underground stables, and blacksmiths worked frantically to repair damaged armor and distribute additional weapons to the soldiers.

Even the youngest goblins who were old enough to carry a weapon were being organized into defensive units, although many of them trembled at the thought of facing an enemy capable of defeating the Mother Goddess.

The entire kingdom had transformed into a giant military camp.
