Red Monster
Chapter 192: Trait
[Heradin Legacy: Increase core absorption rate by twofold!]
[Heradin’s Fortuitous Loot: Increase the chance of gaining extra loot from Loot Exchange by 35%!]
[Heradin’s Magic Lineage II: You have inherited the magic gift of Heradin: +10 to all Magic Stats every level increase!]
[Heradin’s Might Lineage I: You have inherited the might gift of Heradin. +5 to all Might Stats every level increase!]
Red read it again and again. He read the same text seven times to ensure he didn’t misread it. The trait answered a lot of his questions in his head.
He had a guess that he was lucky in loot exchange. But he could not explain why. The answer was in front of him right now. It was his trait that granted him the extra loot: Heradin’s Fortuitous Loot.
Heradin’s Magic Lineage and Heradin Might Lineage explained the extra 5 Magic Stats every time he leveled up. Then he went through the awakening, which evolved his Heradin’s Magic Lineage. Now he gained +10 Magic Stats instead, and the Heradin’s Might Lineage granted him +5 to all Might Stats.
The surprise came from his first trait, Heradin Legacy. He was not aware that his absorption rate was double. It meant he absorbed two cores’ worth of value from just one core. He realized that he might still be level 13 or level 14 at max without the Heradin Legacy trait.
Heradin Legacy was without a doubt the most powerful trait compared to the other three. His smile strained despite his gain. The next question was: how did he end up in the goblin’s village? He had confirmed that he was not a goblin, but a Heradin. But why was he left behind in the goblin village?
That question just appeared in his head even though he knew that he might not be able to get the answer for the rest of his life. Only his parents knew the reason, but then, the chance of him finding his parents was close to zero.
Levelheaded was triggered, helping him to calm down. He took a deep breath and released it in one go; that helped him. He put aside the thoughts and continued inspecting his Status.
He looked through his skills this time. The dream was not a dream; it was real. It was an awakening process. The skills that he obtained from the dream remained. His Essence Mana was real. It stayed at 100 Essence Mana since he finished four circulations.
He obtained four Tier 5 Skills. They were not skills that would help him in a fight, but would indirectly improve his combat ability. On top of that, he had learned to craft equipment. That would be the first thing he would try once this war was over.
The run would be next, as he found a clue on how to make one now. He could imagine how busy he would be later on. Then, most importantly, he got something that would help him in a fight: Spearmanship. He didn’t know if he could achieve the Heradin in his memory. But he knew the skill would help him reach that level.
"But why Spearmanship, though? I have Bow Mastery and Sword Mastery. It makes more sense to get a skill related to those two skills."
Red muttered, "Is it maybe Heradin is known for their spear play?"
He quickly denied it; it didn’t make sense. From his awakening, it was more accurate to say that Heradin was known as Mana Smith instead. The Heradin in his dream even taught human smithing.
He couldn’t make sense of anything in his head. "Maybe I should travel to the outside world instead of staying in this jungle..."
He was tempted to go on an adventure to find more information about Heradin. He wanted to know more about himself, but there was still this uncertainty in his heart. There was this fear of the unknown that stopped him from making the decision.
"I will think about it once I get stronger..."
Red looked at his Status once more, squinting his eyes. There was a new question in his head now. What triggered the awakening? It didn’t take long for him to come to a conclusion.
"Level 25..."
The goblin went through an awakening; he assumed that was an awakening that transformed them into a hobgoblin. There was a clear difference in their awakening. His awakening was more peaceful, involving no pain, while the goblin went through an agonizing process.
Here’s the catch: the goblin went through the awakening at level 10. That was for the goblin, and it was level 25 for Heradin. Nothing happened to him at level 24, and he didn’t reach level 30. So it must be level 25. Level 26, level 27, level 28, and level 29 didn’t make sense; the number was odd.
He drew a conclusion that each race actually underwent awakening at a different level. That explained the kobold as well. The kobold might have the same requirement as Heradin for the first awakening. He guessed so because he hadn’t encountered a level 25 normal kobold. The highest level of the Kobold Scout was level 24.
Red looked at his Status once more. This time he looked at his skills. He was itching to try his new skills, especially the Heradin’s Mana Circulation and Body Forging. He also wanted to craft a new weapon; maybe it was time for him to wear armor just like the kobolds.
He quickly threw out the idea of making plate armor. That would hinder him from moving freely on the tree. The clanking noise might work against him. He reminded himself to try something easier, making an arrow.
"That’s for later..." He shook his head, getting back on his feet. He reminded himself once more that there was something more important than crafting and trying a new skill. It was to end the war first, and he could think about what he wanted to do after.
"How long have I been out?" That was a good question.
He left the house and found it was night already. It meant he was out for the entire afternoon, possibly half the night. He took a stroll, checking the village. Everyone was asleep, leaving six hobgoblins on guard duty.
Red noticed their stares. They were staring at him intensely, but he didn’t see malice or hostility in them. It was more curiosity than anything else. He ignored the stare and decided to take a patrol instead.
He slept the whole afternoon, and he wanted to ensure that they would not be surprised by the kobolds in the morning. He believed the kobolds wouldn’t send another army so quickly. They should be safe for the time being, but he wanted to make sure the village was safe.
