Chapter 187: Strange Dream (3)

Something new appeared on the attribute: Extreme Sharpness IV. He attempted to see what it did, but nothing happened. It was just like when he used Appraisal on the Magic Core; it didn’t work. But that showed the Rune Engraving was a success.

Red blinked his eyes, trying to recall the drawing. He tried to remember it because he wanted to try it. All he needed was leather and Magic Core, but of course, his mana. He had more than 3000 mana, so he didn’t need to worry about lacking mana.

[You have learned a skill, Mana Smith’s Rune Collection!]

He quickly opened his status and found a new skill. Again, the new skill was a Tier 5 skill. He willed the skill, trying to find what the skill did, though he had already figured out what the skill did based on the name.

[Mana Smith’s Rune Collection: A skill that contains a collection of runes, rune guidance, and materials for runes.]

His eyes shone as it meant the skill would be his guide to the world of runes. The guidance would help him work on runes. Most importantly, the collection of runes. Without an actual rune, he could not process further, let alone learn them. The same with materials; the skill told him what he needed.

Then the next question popped into his head. How did he level this skill? It was considered a passive skill. He could not really use it, as the skill only contained the information about the rune.

He was about to delve into the skill until he noticed the Mana Smith in front of him was working on a new rune. He approached the workstation to get closer. A new yellowish leather was on the workstation, but the leather was wider.

The Mana Smith chugged a vial containing a blue liquid. He frowned, but he guessed that the blue liquid was a mana potion. That was the only plausible explanation.

After chugging the potion, Mana Smith started working on the new rune. He started with Rune Weaving. He focused on Mana Smith’s hand, trying to detect the mana with his Mana Sense.

Red sensed it better now, realizing what happened with the mana. The mana was compressed and shaped into a threat. Then it was controlled, or maybe woven. Just like before, it started with a circle, a bigger circle.

He quickly noticed how the threat was not red, but green this time. He created a big circle with two lines that closed together. Then he put a short line to connect the two circles. There were thirty-six short lines that connected the two circles.

Then he made more smaller circles inside the big circle, four more circles. Top and bottom, left and right. Then he connected the circles on the side with two lines. The right circle was connected to the top and bottom circle, and so did the left circle.

Mana Smith then drew something inside the small circle. He drew a simple four-pointed star on the top circle, then a spear with three spearheads on the bottom circle. That was how he saw the drawing: a long shaft with three branched spearheads.

Then he repeated the same drawing: the four-pointed star on the left circle and the spear on the right circle. There, the Mana Smith drew another circle in the middle of the four circles. Just like the outermost circle, he drew the circle with two lines, then connected the two circles with short lines as well.

The Mana Smith then drew the last rune inside the middle circle. It was a diamond-shaped rune, and he drew a smaller diamond on each pointy side. Then he connected the four circles to the circle in the middle. The line that connected the four circles to the circle in the center was thicker and bolder.

The Mana Smith was done with Mana Weaving once the four circles were connected to the center circle. The next process was the rune activation by feeding the rune with Magic Cores. He gained a little understanding as he watched everything.

He took nine Magic Cores of a similar size to the previous cores. Four cores were put on the outermost circle, then he put each core in the center of each smaller circle. The rune was glowing in green as it absorbed the essence inside the core.

The Mana Smith got rid of the stone and started to inspect the rune. He checked every line, taking longer than the previous rune, for sure. After a thorough inspection, he nodded with a satisfied smile.

The next step was Rune Engraving, where he placed the rune on the dagger’s flat surface. A complicated rune took longer to engrave, around twelve minutes, and certainly used more mana.

He removed the leather, which had turned gray. The rune was gone from the leather.

Red quickly used Appraisal on the dagger, checking what the complicated rune was about.

Abyssal-Iron Dagger

Condition: Perfect++

Quality: Epic+

Attribute: +1000 Dexterity, Abyssal Touch, Extreme Sharpness IV, Self Repair II

He didn’t need to inspect what Self Repair did. It was self-explanatory already. He didn’t expect such a rune to exist. But then noticed the disappointment in the Mana Smith’s eyes and expression.

’Is it a failure?’ He thought to himself.

He didn’t get the answer, but he received a notification.

[You have learned a skill, Rune Medium Creation!]

[Rune Medium Creation: An exclusive ability for Mana Smith to create a medium for rune inscription by consuming mana!]

Red checked his status. For some reason, he thought it would be another Tier 5 skill, but of course not. Rune Medium Creation was a Tier 3 skill. The medium was that leather, and it seemed he couldn’t draw the rune on a random medium. It must go through the Rune Medium Creation.

He didn’t know where he was, but he was not really in danger, just in a strange place. Not only was he not in danger, but he learned three essential skills, and two of them were Tier 5 skills. He meant to be here, though he didn’t know why. There was no real explanation as to why he was here.

Red was about to check the other Mana Smiths to check the other type of runes. However, the surroundings changed once more before he could check on the other Mana Smiths.
