Chapter 80: The Trap and the Counterattack

The 18th year of the Tianzheng era, the fifth day of the first month.

Princess’s Residence.

"Senior brother, I’m leaving."

"Where to?"

"Xiuwen Mountain."

Another snow fell. Da Niu in the courtyard bowed to Qin Luo, and not far behind him was Jiang Qingyu, whose expression was obscured.

"Go ahead." Qin Luo nodded and said, "Remember not to be impatient, lest you suffer a qi deviation."

Da Niu bowed respectfully again. In the second battle outside the city, he finally touched the threshold of refining his heart. Although he had a beautiful woman by his side in the princess’s mansion, Da Niu also understood that now was not the time to be troubled by lust.

This trip was both a test of resolve and a period of seclusion. Lin Shuying and her group were already at the city gates, leaving Da Niu with little time. Everyone present understood that Da Niu’s actions were somewhat of a desperate gamble.

"Wait." Da Niu turned to leave, but Qin Luo suddenly called out to him, "Offer incense to my father for me."

Da Niu smiled and agreed, then brushed past Jiang Qingyu, his broad back looking slightly forlorn.

Qin Luo stood there in a daze until Xiao Qing’s soft call pulled him back to reality. Looking at Xiao Qing, whose every move was full of charm, Qin Luo suddenly recalled the boundless passion of that night.

As Jiang Qingyu slowly approached, Qin Luo suddenly raised his head and said earnestly, "Aunt Jiang, could you please find a suitable secluded place for your seclusion?"

"It’s been prepared for a long time." Jiang Qingyu smiled slightly, and with a gentle wave of her jade hand, the porcelain bottle in the corner of the room slowly turned. With a muffled sound, Qin Luo found that the floor beneath his feet was gradually opening up.

"Give me half a month." Qin Luo pulled Xiao Qing into his arms and took a deep, greedy breath.

...

Three days later, Xiuwen Mountain.

Covered in dust from his journey, Da Niu naturally didn’t forget Qin Luo’s instructions, so the first thing he did upon returning to Xiuwen Mountain was to find a few sticks of incense in the storeroom.

The familiar scenery around him put him at ease. Looking at the flowers, plants and trees in Baiyun Palace, Da Niu couldn’t help but recall the moments he had spent with Nangong Muyun.

Qin Zheng’s tomb was still as quiet as ever. Da Niu bent down to light incense when he suddenly heard a strange noise behind him.

"Who?!"

Da Niu turned around instantly, but when he saw the face of the person who came, he was slightly taken aback. Then, a surge of rage rose up, and as golden light burst forth, the true energy in Da Niu’s body reached its peak.

"You’ve made great progress."

The person who came was none other than the old sword master who had suddenly disappeared a few days ago. No one knew that he had secretly come to Xiuwen Mountain all by himself.

Da Niu didn’t want to waste words. He instantly exerted force with his feet, bringing a gust of wind with his fist, and in the blink of an eye, he was already close to the old sword master’s face.

A blur flashed by, and the old sword master’s figure suddenly disappeared. Da Niu was shocked; this was actually Qin Luo’s move!

But what shocked him even more was that no matter how he tried to sense it, he couldn’t detect the old sword master’s physical presence.

This is...

"Don’t bother."

The old sword master’s voice came from the air. Da Niu looked up and saw the leisurely figure floating on the bamboo leaves.

"You’re here to kill me?" Da Niu’s expression changed.

"Hehe, do you still remember the tattoo on Nangong Muyun’s chest?" The old sword master smiled slightly.

"What?"

"The Diagram of Shared Fate is a lost art. I have never known where she found it, just as I do not know where she found the Overlord’s Manual." The old sword master seemed to be talking to himself.

"What do you want to say?" Da Niu stood in front of Qin Zheng’s tomb. He was no longer as reckless as before. While talking to the old sword master, he secretly searched for his physical location.

"If you die, she will die too."

The old sword master’s words made Da Niu’s heart tighten.

"She can’t die yet, so you don’t need to be so nervous. I’m here today for two things," the old sword master continued.

"First, to offer incense to my brother."

"Secondly, I’ll leave you in Xiuwen Mountain. After all, Baiyun Palace is about to be wiped out, so I’ll leave you a continuation of the family line for my old friends."

Da Niu, enraged, laughed and retorted, "You think you can keep me here?"

"Of course." As the old sword master spoke, a black chessboard appeared in his palm, which was the "boundary" he had mentioned during the battle of Tianxiangfang.

"This thing trapped many powerful figures in the past, but now it’s only trapping you. It’s a bit of a waste."

"Are you afraid I’ll kill you?" Da Niu asked.

"If you had the same level of comprehension as your senior brother, I would really be afraid that you would cause me some trouble. But as you are now, you are not worth mentioning."

As the old sword master spoke, he exerted a slight force, and the entire chessboard suddenly grew larger. As a sky-covering phantom enveloped Xiuwen Mountain, Da Niu’s body tensed up, and an inexplicable pressure slowly surged from all directions.

"How is it?" The old sword master landed and walked unhurriedly toward Qin Zheng’s tomb.

"It must be hard to bear the weight of the entire Xiuwen Mountain on your shoulders."

Da Niu looked pained. Although he had circulated his true energy to its limit, he could not move an inch and could only watch helplessly as the old sword master approached.

Without glancing at Da Niu again, the old sword master arrived at Qin Zheng’s tomb, his expression suddenly becoming somewhat dazed.

"They all say you’re the best swordsman, but I just don’t believe it."

"But I never expected that after being dead for so many years, you would still be able to keep this title."

"The Six Views of Wutong Mountain corrupted my mind and prevented me from ascending to immortality. Brother, you didn’t die tragically enough."

"But it will be soon, very soon. Your good son, Qin Luo, will help me destroy my inner demons."

"I’ve been thinking lately that if I go to the Upper Realm, at the Grand Assembly of Immortals a hundred years from now, the disciples of the White Cloud Palace will still have to respectfully address me as an Immortal."

"Haha, just thinking about it is so satisfying."

"Unfortunately, they all seem to be dying."

"I’m going to die..."

The old swordsman continued talking to himself, his figure gradually disappearing, leaving only the sweating bull standing there, unable to move.

As the snow fell heavily and the wind howled, the ox, still stubbornly refusing to collapse, gradually transformed into an ice sculpture covered in glass.

...

That night, at Enping Mountain.

Lin Shuying was awakened from her sleep by a scream. Before she could even put on her clothes, a figure flying horizontally smashed a large hole in the tent.

"Protect Miss Lin!"

These were the last words of the monk whose face was covered in blood.

The fighting continued, and more and more disciples of Baiyun Palace joined the battle. Lin Shuying, disregarding her half-exposed body, drew her sword from her waist and was about to draw it when she saw Nangong Youwen descending from the sky with an anxious expression.

"It was just a cursory glance!"

"What?" Lin Shuying was shocked. She did not expect that the Guiyi Sect would take the initiative to attack.

After several more shrill screams, the two men, who had been observing the scene, slowly emerged from the snow.

"Which one of you is Lin Shuying?" Zouma’s eyes scanned the group of people opposite him.

His answer was a dazzling flash of light; Qin Wanshan, wielding a curved blade and with disheveled hair, instantly closed in.

Zouma dodged to the side, but Qin Wanshan’s blades were aimed straight at vital points, forcing Zouma back half a zhang in an instant.

"Just the two of you?" Qin Wanshan said coldly, "The old sword master is looking down on us a bit."

As he moved forward again, two more figures appeared behind Qin Wanshan: the sect leader of the Mo Dao Sect and the elder of the San Yi Academy, who had arrived late.

"Withdraw!"

Seeing that things were not going well, Guanhua turned around and left, with Zouma following closely behind. Qin Wanshan was relentless, and the figures of the group disappeared from Lin Shuying’s sight in a few breaths.

"This..." Nangong Youwen murmured, frowning.

Something’s not right...

Lin Shuying was also puzzled. This surprise attack came swiftly, but only two people were caught off guard. Just as Qin Wanshan had said, the old sword master was indeed a bit careless.

"Miss Lin..." As soon as Nangong Youwen turned around, he saw Lin Shuying’s alluring appearance, her thin clothes unable to conceal her full breasts. In his nervousness, Nangong Youwen could clearly see the two conspicuous protrusions on her chest.

He lowered his head instantly, and Nangong Youwen was flustered again. Perhaps due to the urgency of the situation, Lin Shuying’s skirt became somewhat disheveled, and one of her smooth, jade-like legs was completely exposed to the air. From the side, a few sparse hairs could even be seen.

Lin Shuying then realized that she was barely clothed. She cried out and straightened her clothes before saying, "Save them first."

Fortunately, Lin Shuying arranged for cultivators to be on night duty, which allowed everyone to assemble as quickly as possible. Even so, the unexpected attack still resulted in the tragic deaths of two sixth-level cultivators.

In addition, there were six other cultivators with varying degrees of internal injuries. The injured were carried to a place, and Lin Shuying used the rudimentary medical skills she had learned from Gu Hanyan to take their pulses.

Fortunately, it seems that Zou Ma and Guanhua did not use their full strength. Apart from the two cultivators who were still unconscious, the other four were all unharmed.

This made Lin Shuying even more puzzled. The sudden attack by the two had made her think a lot, like a test before a major battle. Lin Shuying perked up. Now that their location had been exposed, it would be difficult to move so many people in a short time. With a quick glance, Lin Shuying suddenly stood up.

"Lin Yuan, Zhang Dong."

"Here!" The two cultivators whose names were called replied in unison. Under Nangong Youwen’s command, the group now all had Lin Shuying as their leader.

"Each of you will lead thirty-six cultivators to explore the sect." Lin Shuying’s eyes were sharp.

"Understood!"

The two groups set off quietly, and in the vast snow, they arrived at the foot of Guiyi Sect Mountain in just two hours.

Just like the current Baiyun Palace, the Guiyi Sect was now a mixed bag. At the foot of the mountain were cultivators from sects such as Lingyun Hall and Jinwu Hall. Perhaps because they had the old sword master and the eighteen venerable ones as their backers, these people seemed very at ease, and they hadn’t even arranged for a single cultivator to be on night duty.

Several cultivators, skilled at concealing their presence, gradually approached under the cover of night. Inside the outer tents, several sleeping cultivators were silently killed before they could even make a sound.

The camp finally came alive when an alert elder from the Golden Crow Hall was awakened.

Amidst the flashing swords and clashing blades, dozens of people were caught in a chaotic battle. The sounds of exploding internal energy and clashing metal filled the air, turning the once tranquil camp into a battlefield of carnage.

As the battle intensified, the two factions became more clearly divided. The sharp-eyed Lin Yuan had just spotted a cultivator from the opposite side running up to the Guiyi Sect, seemingly to call for reinforcements. After calculating the time, he and Zhang Dong exchanged a glance and gave an order, and the Baiyun Palace faction instantly turned back.

Elder Jinwu Hall dared not give chase and could only watch helplessly as the group disappeared into the distance.

Fifteen minutes later, Bodhi finally arrived, yawning.

"I thought they were all dead." Bodhi’s tone was unfriendly, as if he was very angry that his beautiful dream had been disturbed.

"They’re crying and screaming over just a few deaths?"

Elder Jinwu Hall dared not speak his anger, but simply lowered his head and said, "It seems that they can no longer hold back. Please, Venerable One, retaliate as soon as possible."

"Okay, wait for my message." Bodhi yawned again, turned away with a perfunctory expression.
