Chapter 499: Chapter499-Breakthrough Imminent

Just then, a hearty laugh suddenly rang out.

"Good wine! Truly good wine! As expected of something personally brewed by the Guild Leader."

"This fruit wine is absolutely top-tier. I wouldn’t even mind drinking myself to death today."

A young man in a suit spoke with his eyes closed, a smile resting on his face.

John walked over and studied him for a moment before saying,

"You’re one of the strangest people I’ve ever met. Everyone else comes begging me to heal them, yet you’re the only one who cares more about my wine."

"And what’s even stranger is that you’re clearly blind, yet you’re always smiling so brightly."

The young man merely smiled.

If anything, his smile grew even warmer, as radiant as the morning sun.

Slowly, he opened his eyes.

His pupils were gray-white and completely lifeless.

There was no doubt about it.

He was indeed blind.

Yet the smile on his face only deepened.

"Who decided that a blind man isn’t allowed to be happy?"

"As long as a person knows contentment, happiness naturally follows."

"I was born into wealth and privilege. My limbs are intact, and apart from my eyes, I suffer from no illness."

"Compared to countless people suffering throughout the world, I’ve already been blessed with far too much."

"And although I lost my sight, I gained other ways of experiencing the world."

"I may no longer be able to see, but I hear far more clearly."

"My senses have become sharper as well."

"Sometimes, I can even experience wonders that others never notice."

He paused before asking softly,

"Have you ever truly listened to the sound of snowflakes landing on a rooftop?"

"Have you ever felt the life within a flower bud slowly blooming beneath the spring breeze?"

"Can you distinguish the countless faint fragrances carried through the air from distant mountains?"

"And have you ever felt the stars appearing one by one across the evening sky?"

"I have."

"And I consider myself incredibly fortunate to experience all of them."

"I’ve always taken pride in that."

Hearing this, John smiled and nodded.

"Then you truly do have every reason to be happy."

"Perhaps your very existence is proof of what life is meant to be."

The man sat cross-legged, much like Sovereign Rujie.

Suddenly—

Whoosh!

John’s expression changed.

A flash of light seemed to streak across his mind.

It vanished almost instantly.

Yet John had caught it.

The meaning of life?

John froze.

Something seemed to click into place.

Then an ecstatic expression appeared on his face.

He suddenly threw back his head and burst into laughter.

"Hahahaha!"

"I understand!"

"I finally understand!"

"Blind man... you’re not blind at all!"

...

Fifty years later.

John stood atop Giant Spirit Snow Mountain.

He had spent fifty full years traveling on foot.

Step by step, he had measured nearly every corner of this plane with his own feet.

He had seen wildflowers bloom throughout secluded valleys in spring.

He had seen bare-chested boat haulers drenched in sweat beneath the blazing summer sun, straining to drag hundred-ton ships ashore for meager wages—

only to return home smiling, because that little money was enough to buy food and clothes for their wives and children.

He had seen entire mountains dyed crimson by maple leaves in autumn.

He had watched all things wither beneath the season’s killing chill, leaving behind silent, barren hills.

And he had seen plum blossoms still blooming proudly in the depths of winter.

He had heard snowflakes landing upon the corners of tiled roofs with soft, crisp sounds.

He had listened to winter rain tapping against wooden windows.

He had crossed grasslands stretching hundreds of miles through desolate wilderness.

He had stood beside raging rivers that rolled onward for hundreds more.

He had walked alongside city walls spanning thousands of miles.

And he had crossed mountain ranges stretching for tens of thousands of miles without end.

All of it...

was life.

Life itself!

John stood atop the snowy mountain.

The freezing wind howled around him, yet not even a single strand of his hair moved.

At that moment, brilliant light erupted within John’s eyes.

"My Dao..."

"...is about to reach completion!"

John could feel it.

His breakthrough...

was close.

Very close.

...

Myriad Races Universe.

Whoosh!

A streak of light shot outward.

It left the universe behind and entered the Void.

John raised his head.

His eyes widened in shock as he stared into the endless chaotic starfield.

"The Cosmic Will is trembling!"

"What happened inside the Chaos Void Domain?"

The thought had barely appeared—

when the boundless chaos-colored sky suddenly changed.

In an instant...

it became blood-red.

A horrifying crimson spread across the entire starfield.

At the same time—

Splash! Splash! Splash!

Drops of blood began falling from the endless chaotic heavens.

Powerful Laws coiled around John.

No matter how violently the bloody rain poured, not a single drop could touch him.

John slowly stretched out his hand.

One drop landed upon his palm.

Immediately, an overwhelming stench of blood and savage violence surged from within it.

Law-light flashed through John’s eyes.

And inside that tiny droplet of blood...

images began to appear.

One scene after another.

Countless Sovereigns.

Countless God Kings.

All of them were facing a single figure—

a red-haired young Sovereign with dual pupils.

Wherever that young Sovereign passed...

death followed.

Whether they were God Kings or Sovereigns—

they died instantly.

Their bodies collapsed and disintegrated on the spot.

And scenes like these were playing out everywhere throughout the Chaos Void Domain.

Slaughter.

Slaughter.

And even more slaughter!

It was an absolute massacre.

No one could resist him.

Even Peak Sovereigns were powerless before the red-haired youth.

Among those scenes, John saw several experts from the Skyvault Consortium—

Astral Sovereign.

Sovereign Asherov.

And many others.

They couldn’t even get close enough to touch the young Sovereign.

Before they could approach...

his divine abilities had already crushed them.

And that wasn’t all.

John also saw Sovereign Lairen.

Sovereign Rune.

The Vice Guild Leader.

And several other Peak Sovereigns of the Skyvault Consortium.

They were at least powerful enough to confront the red-haired Sovereign directly.

But even they were helpless.

One after another...

they were suppressed.

Crushed.

Destroyed.

That red-haired young Sovereign was like an invincible Demon God.

Every powerhouse he encountered was swept aside.

Worse still...

he didn’t seem to distinguish between friend and foe.

Faction meant nothing to him.

Identity meant nothing.

Anyone who entered the red-haired Sovereign’s sight—

died.

"No one inside the Chaos Void Domain is using an avatar."

"Those are all their true bodies."

"If they die there... they’re truly dead."

John’s expression turned solemn.

"No wonder the heavens are raining blood."

"So many Sovereigns across the myriad worlds have fallen..."

John drew in a slow breath.

His Divine Sense erupted outward.

One strand became ten thousand.

Ten thousand became billions.

Billions became trillions upon trillions.

His Divine Sense followed the falling blood rain across existence.

And then—

John discovered something terrifying.

The blood rain was everywhere.

Overlapping space-time.

The past.

The future.

Every timeline.

Every river of time.

Blood rain was descending across all of them simultaneously.

Across countless universes and innumerable planes, even worlds beneath perfectly clear skies suddenly found themselves covered in crimson rain.

Blood fell from the heavens.

Endlessly.

John withdrew his Divine Sense.

His gaze sharpened.

The deaths of so many powerhouses meant one thing.

Across the myriad universes...

across all space and time...

only four Sovereign-rank existences, including John, remained.

The God King generation...

had been completely severed.

The Sovereign generation...

had practically been wiped out as well.

"No..."

John’s eyes narrowed.

"There is still one Sovereign left."

"That red-haired youth..."

"The Overlord of the End!"

John inhaled deeply.

Judging from the strength the Overlord of the End had displayed...

he was probably already infinitely close to becoming a Half-Step Supreme God.

John returned to the Myriad Races Universe.

Then back to the plane below.

Blood rain was falling here as well.

The moment the crimson droplets touched the earth, they began soaking into everything around them.

But as the blood seeped into the world...

the objects it touched actually began to disintegrate.

Matter itself was being decomposed.

And once completely broken down...

it would cease to exist altogether.

"Hmph!"

John let out a cold snort.

Invisible ripples of Law spread from his body.

In the blink of an eye, they enveloped the entire Myriad Races Universe.

Then they continued expanding—

covering thousands upon thousands of surrounding universes.

Within the domain protected by John’s Laws...

not a single drop of blood could fall.
