Chapter 486: Chapter486-Agreeing to Help
After a moment’s consideration, John ultimately agreed.
He remembered that by the time he launched his attack on the Ryan Universe, Baron the Overlord had already gone ahead of him to assault the Heren Universe.
He had not expected it to end this way. Not only had the offensive failed, but Baron’s forces had also been driven back.
Still, John thought, that was hardly surprising. The enemy had established formidable defenses throughout this region.
Other universes might have only one Sovereign guarding them, but the enemy had deployed a large contingent of Sovereign-rank powerhouses here solely to deal with him.
The Ryan Universe alone had contained more than a dozen Sovereigns. The Heren Universe was bound to have just as many.
There was no way Baron the Overlord could defeat them with his strength alone.
Even so, John had no intention of going there himself. He simply sent the three Valhalla powerhouses to reinforce Baron.
There are only a few Sovereigns left anyway, he thought. They aren’t worth my personal attention.
If I want to obtain vast quantities of Law Insight Points, I have other ways to do it.
His thoughts immediately turned to the Oss Universe. His true body and the true bodies of the Valhalla powerhouses had remained stationed there all along.
Now that the Cosmic Endtime Tribulation had descended, the myriad universes were in turmoil. Even the Space-Time Universe had erupted into war. John could seize this opportunity to harvest countless Law Insight Points.
At the same time, he intended to unleash the Apocalypse Tribulation he had accumulated for so long.
Before long, the Valhalla powerhouses returned. They had already dealt with the forces in the Heren Universe and eliminated every target that needed to be removed.
Meanwhile, in a region of space unknown to John, a Peak Sovereign from the alliance of new factions appeared and sped toward the Ryan Universe.
Halfway there, however, two Peak Sovereigns from the Skyvault Consortium abruptly emerged before him.
"The Skyvault Consortium actually sent two Peak Sovereigns specifically to protect John!"
The enemy Peak Sovereign’s mouth twitched when he saw them.
Their plot had clearly been exposed. He could not tell whether the Skyvault Consortium had learned of it in advance or whether it had always kept Peak Sovereigns hidden nearby to protect John as a matter of course.
"There are two of you, aren’t there?" one of the Skyvault Consortium’s Peak Sovereigns said calmly. "Why bother hiding? You’re mighty Peak Sovereigns, yet you don’t even dare show yourselves?"
The enemy Peak Sovereign flushed with embarrassment.
At the same moment, the phantom behind him rippled, and another Peak Sovereign stepped out, his expression dark.
"Since the Skyvault Consortium was prepared for us, we can no longer carry out our plan to suppress John."
"Let’s go."
After a brief discussion, the two Peak Sovereigns from the alliance of new factions reached their decision.
Battles between Peak Sovereigns were nothing like battles involving ordinary Sovereigns.
It was extremely difficult for evenly matched Peak Sovereigns to determine a victor in a short time, and harder still for one to kill another.
Faced with an equal number of Peak Sovereigns, the pair decided to retreat.
"Let’s go! We can let John live a little longer."
"Even if he reaches the Sovereign rank, so what? Sooner or later, he’ll enter the Sea of the Void Abyss..."
"We’ll hunt him down once he’s there!"
With that, the two Peak Sovereigns abandoned their plan. They gave their counterparts one last, searching look before vanishing in a flash.
The grave expressions on the Skyvault Consortium’s Peak Sovereigns relaxed once the enemy had gone.
Avoiding a battle was naturally the best outcome.
Before departing, they reported the incident to their superiors. Then they, too, disappeared.
John had no idea that the Demon King Council, Eternal Mountain, and the Black God Palace had become so desperate to deal with him that they had sent two Peak Sovereigns after him.
Had he known, he would have been delighted.
To receive treatment that even ordinary Peak Sovereigns could not command while he was still only a God King—was that not an honor?
Besides, John was not worried about being suppressed by Peak Sovereigns.
His Invincible Body ensured that he could not be defeated.
The Oss Universe.
The voice of John’s true body boomed across the universe, reaching the mind of every player in an instant.
"The Apocalypse Tribulation has begun, and every living being is now bound to a tribulation of slaughter!"
"We must face the Ascension Trial ourselves and survive until the great tribulation ends."
"This calamity cannot be avoided or escaped. Since that is the case, why not take the initiative and grow stronger? I hereby declare that from this day forward, every player shall march forth and conquer the myriad universes!"
The instant John’s proclamation ended, countless players erupted with fervor.
At last...
After lying low and building their strength for so long, was the blood-soaked slaughter finally about to begin?
Following a period of rest and training, the players’ average strength had already reached the High God rank.
With the help of John’s resources, some of the strongest players had even broken through to the God King rank.
Without John, they could never have advanced to the God King rank so quickly.
John had nurtured this army for a thousand days. Now the moment had come to put it to use.
The players answered his call immediately.
"I’ll attack whoever the Guild Leader tells me to attack! I’m the blade in his hand!"
"Think bigger. I’m probably only cannon fodder, but if the Guild Leader needs me, I’ll gladly be cannon fodder for him!"
"The Guild Leader has supported us for so long that it’s almost embarrassing. It’s time to put our lives on the line for him, brothers!"
And they truly were putting their lives on the line.
As the players had ascended to higher life tiers, they had lost the ability to resurrect after death.
If they died now, they would truly be dead.
It was no small thing that players—people who had always lived by seeking profit and avoiding danger—would support John with such disregard for their own lives.
John’s true body immediately created four clones.
They became his second group of proxies.
These proxies would lead the players in their conquest of the universes.
John selected their first target:
The Thorne Universe, a universe under the control of the Demon King Council.
It was one of the council’s strongholds.
No one could blame John for repeatedly targeting the Demon King Council...
After all, the Demon King Council had always been his sworn enemy!
Attacking it was only natural.
"Ordinary Sovereigns are no more than ants to me now."
"Even Peak Sovereigns are merely larger ants, and there aren’t many of them..."
"The odds of a Peak Sovereign appearing in the Thorne Universe are low."
"Even if one does appear, it won’t matter. My Invincible Body makes me immune to all harm... The Valhalla powerhouses are also clones, so anything that happens to them won’t affect their true bodies."
"The players will only enter after the battle to gather resources, clear the battlefield, and suppress lower-ranked enemies..."
"The overall risk is minimal."
"If we succeed, we’ll seize a vast expanse of territory!"
"We’ll weaken the Demon King Council while strengthening ourselves."
John then constructed several more warships.
Empowered by the Eight Divine Arts, the warships he created were every bit as formidable as those of the Skyvault Consortium.
In some respects, they were even superior!
