Chapter 324 -324-The Endtimes
Chapter 324: Chapter324-The Endtimes
"The Apocalypse Tribulation..."
John drew a deep breath. He could already sense the storm gathering over the myriad universes, like black clouds pressing down upon a city.
"Guild Leader! My vitality is being forcibly drained!" Odelle suddenly exclaimed.
"Mine too... There’s no way to stop it." Silt’s brows knitted tightly.
"Me too..." Holly blinked and quickly added.
The Worldbane Bloodline was forcibly devouring the vitality of every living being below the Peak Sovereign level.
Its power reflected across the myriad heavens!
It traversed the River of Space-Time!
Not even Sovereign-rank powerhouses were exempt.
Whether one hid within the space-times of the past or escaped into the distant future, there was nowhere to run!
John raised his brows upon hearing them.
He had not received any notification indicating that the Worldbane Bloodline was eroding him.
Then he remembered that he had been maintaining the Eternal Imperishable Body state all this time and immediately understood.
He warned the three women,
"The Worldbane Bloodline will usher in the Apocalypse Tribulation."
"All living beings are trapped within this calamity. Struggling against it is useless. It cannot be avoided."
"Hiding inside a space-time artifact or attempting to manipulate the flow of time will be equally ineffective."
"The reason I remain unaffected is because the Eternal Imperishable Body is reinforced by the Laws of Space and Time."
"Space-time is the foundation of all laws and stands above every other law. Only because of that can I maintain a state of permanent invincibility."
John’s gaze hardened, and his voice turned indifferent.
"The only way to eradicate the Worldbane Bloodline is to kill its owner and seize the treasure."
"We must kill the demi-Supreme who possesses it to stop this calamity."
"However, the difficulty of doing so is no less than challenging the will of the universe itself..."
"Therefore, this tribulation is inevitable. There is no use dwelling on it."
After hearing this, Holly, Odelle, and Silt stopped resisting.
Otherwise, given their personalities, they would undoubtedly have fought against it with everything they had.
None of them was willing to suffer such losses without a struggle.
"Then... will we die?" Holly asked innocently. "Players shouldn’t truly die, right?"
"Perhaps we wouldn’t have before, but that may no longer be true," Odelle said, glancing at John as she bit her full lower lip.
"From what the Guild Leader said, Evernight Palace and Clover may be connected to the truth behind why players appeared in this world."
"I feel the same way... though I can’t explain why," Silt said calmly.
John smiled and gave Odelle an approving look.
As expected of an Overlord-class figure, her mind was exceptionally sharp. With only a few scattered clues, she had arrived at the same conclusion as him.
The stronger John became and the deeper his understanding of the cosmic starfield grew, the more intensely he felt it.
Players...
Were merely chess pieces.
And space-time players were anomalies even among those pieces.
Featherfish Sovereign’s words had been chaotic and fragmented, but John’s keen senses had caught several clues within them.
When he connected those clues to the existence of space-time players, a vague theory began to form in his mind.
Why did space-time players exist?
Perhaps the Transcendents standing upon the "shore" had taken an interest in some unique quality possessed by players.
Using supreme abilities, they allowed those players to rise and grow throughout the River of Space-Time, eventually gathering them into a force that could be put to use.
Clover, for example...
John had encountered space-time players numerous times inside the Space-Time Tower.
He knew that the organization known as Clover was a faction composed entirely of space-time players.
And that was only one possibility.
"What if my rebirth..."
"What if Valhalla itself is also part of a game secretly arranged by some mighty existence standing upon the shore?"
John’s gaze swept over the three women before him.
Holly possessed terrifying strength and had yet to reveal all her trump cards. The portion she had already displayed was enough to shatter an entire world with a single sword strike.
Odelle encountered one extraordinary opportunity after another. The fortune of an entire world seemed to converge upon her, and she had never lacked resources throughout her journey.
Silt was an anomaly among anomalies. She had fused the fate of an NPC with the body of a player, and the depths of her talent and strength were impossible to fathom.
Within any fragment of space-time, each of these three women would have been qualified to become the protagonist of an entire universe.
Yet they had all been drawn together by the Grand Holy Grail.
Only a fool would believe that was mere coincidence.
John knew very well that an existence who controlled the Law of Destiny could freely weave bonds of fate and entangle karmic threads.
How much easier would it be for a demi-Supreme who had already "reached the shore" and could confront the will of the universe directly?
"If Valhalla is part of one demi-Supreme’s scheme..."
"And Clover and Evernight Palace are part of another demi-Supreme’s scheme..."
"Then there are at least two demi-Supreme factions secretly manipulating the player population from behind the scenes."
Yet even after reaching this conclusion, John felt no fear.
"I cultivate the Laws of Space and Time, which lead directly to the fundamental origin."
"I possess countless talents, endless resources, and a state of near invincibility."
"I have also accumulated an enormous number of attributes..."
"As long as I steadily increase my strength, it may not be impossible for me to rival Peak Sovereigns and contend against demi-Supremes."
The confidence granted by strength gave him the courage to remain composed.
So what if he had to face Transcendents who had already reached the shore?
Skyvault Consortium.
High Council Hall.
The projections of powerhouses at the Sovereign rank and above had gathered together, forming a vast, illusory sea of towering figures.
Presiding over the meeting was a Peak Sovereign-level powerhouse—
One of the Deputy Pavilion Masters of Skyvault Consortium.
His phantom was incomparably enormous, yet his power had returned to a state of perfect simplicity. He seemed to have merged with the entire starry sky.
"Everyone, the Apocalypse Tribulation has arrived."
The Deputy Pavilion Master’s voice echoed through the hall, steady and cold.
"According to the Pavilion Master, this calamity was jointly initiated by the demi-Supreme existences behind three factions: the Demon King Council, Clover, and Evernight Palace."
"Their purpose is to use all living beings across the myriad heavens as nourishment for the Worldbane Bloodline."
"They seek the sliver of opportunity required to break through to the Supreme realm."
Hundreds of thousands of Sovereign-rank projections from across the myriad universes listened in grave silence.
They understood that this Apocalypse Tribulation was a catastrophe capable of overturning the myriad worlds.
It threatened the very foundations of their existence.
None of them dared to treat it lightly.
"The Demon King Council, Clover, and Evernight Palace!"
A Sovereign-rank powerhouse spoke in a deep voice.
"Since they are the ones who initiated the Apocalypse Tribulation..."
"We should unite with Eternal Summit and the Tower of Myriad Treasures and declare total war against those three factions!"
"Agreed. Skyvault Consortium, Eternal Summit, and the Tower of Myriad Treasures are all ancient great factions with long-standing inheritances."
"The Demon King Council, Clover, and Evernight Palace are merely newly risen powers or organizations that have been hiding in the shadows."
"In terms of foundations, overall strength, the number of Sovereigns, and the number of Peak Sovereign-level powerhouses..."
"Our three traditional factions far surpass those newcomers."
"If war breaks out, our chances of victory will be extremely high."
The Sovereign-rank powerhouses began weighing the advantages and disadvantages of going to war.
However, the Deputy Pavilion Master slowly shook his head.
"That would be unwise."
"Those three new factions are merely puppets and chess pieces belonging to the demi-Supremes behind them."
"Even if we uprooted all three factions today, the Worldbane Bloodline has already been activated."
"The Apocalypse Tribulation can no longer be reversed."
"Furthermore..."
"As long as the demi-Supremes are willing, creating and cultivating new factions would require no more than a thought."
"How many such factions could we possibly destroy?"
The Deputy Pavilion Master’s voice became distant and indifferent.
"It is often said that we can roam the River of Space-Time and travel freely between the past and future."
"Yet few understand..."
"The past, present, and future are all nothing more than fleeting dreams and illusory reflections."
