Chapter 535: Chapter 439: Big Commotion

Beneath the surface of all this peace, she had never imagined that something else, something so unpredictable, could happen.

"What’s wrong? Why are you all so serious? Did something happen? Is that man in white back to cause trouble?"

Lex Cross shook his head. "We’ll talk back at the villa."

Saul Sterling nodded in agreement. "Boss, Flora, I’ll go get everyone else."

The residents of Villa Three, who had been out hunting or participating in various base activities, were all called back.

Upon returning to Villa Three, they saw everyone else gathering in Flora Bloom’s yard, so they quietly sat down as well. ℴ

Once everyone had arrived, Lex Cross wasted no time in getting straight to the point.

"The great families of the Ancient Universe have arrived just outside the planet."

This single statement stunned not only Flora Bloom and the few others who already knew the truth, but also the thirteen special forces soldiers, whose faces all registered surprise.

Five, in particular, shot up excitedly. "Boss, did my family come too?"

Lex Cross frowned, his expression unreadable, clearly displeased with Five’s reaction. "It’s unclear. We of the Cross family can sense each other through our bloodline. Even from a great distance, I can sense the location of the nearest member of my family."

"I also sensed someone from my family arriving. However, I deduced it," Saul added. "Boss, it seems the person from my family is a younger uncle, or at least someone from that generation.

Until the situation is clear, I think it’s best if no one leaves the base."

’Can’t leave the base? Why is that?’

It wasn’t just Flora Bloom and the others who were confused; Five, Nolan Jennings, and the rest were just as puzzled.

"Boss, why can’t we leave the base?"

"Exactly. So they’re here. What of it? The Cross family and the Sterling family are on our side. What’s there to be afraid of?"

Saul Sterling’s gaze swept over the twelve other soldiers. "Given Earth’s current situation, anyone who comes here will have a purpose. And the most likely reason I can think of is to compete for Earth’s Space Fragments.

It’s also highly likely that news of a Divine-level Space Fragment on Earth has already spread. Their arrival will not be peaceful."

It dawned on Flora Bloom. She blinked, looking at Lex Cross. "You mean... their purpose in coming is to invade?"

The moment the words left her mouth, Flora’s own heart began to pound with anxiety.

Everyone who heard her was shaken. Even Lex Cross and the others nodded uneasily.

Historically, invasions are never bloodless, unless they’re purely cultural. Flora’s mind was now filled with scenes straight out of a sci-fi blockbuster—aliens attacking Earth.

However, the reality of the situation, while perhaps not as grandiose as a sci-fi movie, would undoubtedly be far more complex.

"I thought that if we just focused on preventing the war between humans and zombies that’s supposed to happen in the third year of the apocalypse, we could secure humanity’s future on Earth.

I never imagined that, with just three days to go until that third year, we wouldn’t be facing a war with zombies, but an alien invasion instead?"

"Flora, I brought everyone here today because I need you all to stay put for the time being.

The Cross family holds an exceptional status in the Ancient Universe, so I can guarantee your safety from them. But the other families from the Star Nation are another story—they’re unpredictable. So, until I figure out their primary objective for this visit, Flora, you and the others are not to take a single step outside of Morhaven."

Three days later, Graham Cross and Solomon Sterling exchanged a glance, then mobilized the leaders of the various family factions to launch a joint assault on Earth’s protective layer.

A barrage of superpower energies, shimmering with all sorts of colors, slammed into the weakest point of this protective layer—a barrier as ethereal as air yet as hard as steel. The energies and the shield battled for dominance, each consuming the other in a relentless war of attrition.

Victory would go to whichever side could outlast the other.

Soon, a section of the protective layer grew increasingly thin. Through the shimmering barrier, they could all see glimpses of the landscapes and scenes within the planet.

This greatly motivated everyone. To get inside and find the treasures they sought, they had to accelerate their efforts and breach the opening.

Finally, thanks to their relentless efforts, they tore an opening in the protective layer large enough for two people to pass through at once. Graham Cross, seeing that things were progressing as planned, was the first to order his own people—from the Cross family and a few other allied factions—to stop.

The other factions followed suit, ceasing their superpower attacks and scrutinizing the newly formed entryway.

No one was a fool. No one charged forward to be the first.

What if the opening held a hidden trap or mechanism? The first one through would be the victim, and nobody was stupid enough to volunteer.

This was only the first wave of people their families had brought along. Their numbers were limited, and every loss would be felt.

Meanwhile, in a pitch-dark cave, the expression on the face of the man in white suddenly changed. When he opened his eyes, they were filled with worry.

He sensed a disturbance from the Space Fragment connected to the land of death.

’It’s just like when I first came to Earth, arriving directly through that fixed Space Fragment. My King, who else have you sent to Earth?’

’This is not a good sign.’

’If the newcomer is Thousand Eyes, or even Linden, then neither Morhaven nor Flora Bloom will be safe.’

"Looks like I have to make a trip to the Morhaven base." He had to protect her. Archie sighed in resignation. His own "long life" depended on her well-being, after all.
