Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 510 - 431: Eve of Deployment
Chapter 510: Chapter 431: Eve of Deployment
This time, however, Sherman Lynch refused Flora Bloom’s request.
The things Flora Bloom had explained to their inner circle in the last ten minutes were simply too incredible. The matter was also of unprecedented severity.
He could back her up and vouch for her credibility, but he couldn’t bring himself to explain facts that he found unbelievable and hadn’t even witnessed himself.
They trusted Flora Bloom, so they didn’t doubt her words. But he pointed out that for something this major, the people of the base wouldn’t necessarily believe it if she just said it outright.
However, it was imperative that everyone accept the situation, adapt, and begin preparing for the future war against the zombie swarms as quickly as possible.
Flora Bloom wasn’t one for pretentious, drawn-out introductions, so she got straight to the point.
"From this moment on, I want our Morhaven base to unite all superpower users. No more factions."
Flora Bloom’s single sentence made the color drain from the faces of every captain present, except for Sepherdine.
"Why? Even if you major factions want to turn on each other, there’s no need to completely wipe out us smaller teams, is there?"
"Right! We aren’t trying to fight you major factions for resources. Just let us survive on our own, at least!"
The captains immediately voiced their objections, breaking into discussion among themselves.
But Flora Bloom had no intention of arguing with them.
"Fighting over resources? Should we really be fighting amongst ourselves? In this apocalypse, the freedom you want was stolen long ago by the zombie hordes, which have already formed their own kingdoms.
I called you here today to tell you a hard truth. The zombie hordes within Veridia have begun to assemble. They’re forming something like a nation, with a clear division of labor and a rigid hierarchy.
In less than two years, maybe even sooner, they will likely wage a full-scale war against humanity." But Flora Bloom didn’t think of it as a ’maybe.’ ’There’s only a year and a half left until the three-year mark. The war between humanity and the zombies is just around the corner.’
Sepherdine remained silent. Knowing Flora Bloom as he did, he understood that she didn’t need to invent such a reason to absorb the base’s major factions.
With her power, all of their factions, which seemed so strong in numbers, would be crushed in an instant.
So, there was a very high chance she was telling the truth.
His only remaining doubt stemmed from a nagging fear. ’If what Flora Bloom says is true, will the people of our Morhaven base even be enough?’
"Captain Flora Bloom, it’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just... that’s impossible! If the zombies really have human-like thoughts and social structures, then there’s no point in fighting. We might as well just lie down and wait to die!"
Flora Bloom’s sharp gaze snapped to the captain who had just spoken out against her. The look in her eyes sent a shiver down his spine.
"Why are you looking at me like that? I’m not wrong, am I? If it’s really like that, how are we supposed to live?"
"Shut up!" Before Flora Bloom could even respond, the captain of another small team standing beside him barked, his face stern.
Flora Bloom glanced over and was surprised to see it was an old acquaintance: one of the former Morhaven leader Morgan Sterling’s subordinates.
"You! Who the hell do you think you are... What gives you the right to tell me to shut up!"
Flora Bloom’s expression remained unchanged, but her voice grew icy.
"I didn’t call you here in the middle of the night to listen to your opinions. I suggest you all let me finish speaking before you decide anything."
She said as much, but this time, she had no intention of negotiating with ignorant, insignificant people.
"Today, my brother Joel Bloom and I discovered nine separate zombie congregations within Veridia. The smallest of these territories is more than twice the size of our Morhaven base, and their numbers far exceed our total number of superpower users.
Their perimeters are formed by hordes of low-level zombies. They are clearly demarcated, ranging from Level 1 to Level 3, distributed by rank with a clear division of labor.
Further inside, there are at least a thousand Middle Level zombies, led by three High-level zombies.
Heh. You just said that if this were true, humanity couldn’t survive. You’re right. If everyone thought the same way you do, we truly wouldn’t be able to survive. People like you might as well just go die. It would be much easier."
As she finished, Flora Bloom fixed her piercing gaze on that same nameless captain.
The man’s face flushed, clearly humiliated by her words.
"You... What... What do you mean by that?"
