Chapter 2857: This Man Is A Monster
Chapter 2857: Chapter 2857: This Man Is A Monster
The dark-faced man narrowed his sharp eyes. ’She is not trying to kill me... She wants to take me alive!’
The realisation hit him like a lightning bolt, and a wave of dark glee washed over him.
An opportunity!
If Yu Qi were constrained by the need to capture him alive, she would naturally hesitate to throw lethal strikes. As long as he exploited that mercy, he could turn the tables!
A cruel, twisted sneer spread across his dark face. He decided to use her own leniency as a trap.
During Yu Qi’s next sweep, the dark-faced man deliberately left his upper chest wide open. Just as Yu Qi shifted her blade’s angle to avoid a lethal blow, he suddenly twisted his frame at an unnatural angle and unleashed a hidden, devastating palm strike. His dark palm surged toward Yu Qi’s chest with every last drop of spiritual power he could muster.
A sinister aura coalesced around his hand as he pushed his dark cultivation past its limits. He had calculated the distance down to the millimetre. At this range, Yu Qi had zero space to manoeuvre or dodge.
He was going to kill her where she stood!
For a single, triumphant second, the dark-faced man believed he had successfully pulled off his gamble.
However, just a millimetre before his palm could make contact with Yu Qi’s clothes, an overwhelming, monstrous force suddenly slammed sideways into his attack.
BOOM!
The explosive energy collision sent a violent shockwave sweeping through the narrow corridor. Splintered wood and dust exploded into the air as the surrounding walls groaned under the pressure.
The dark-faced man’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. His lethal strike had been completely shattered.
Before his brain could even process what had intervened, a tall, imposing figure stepped out of the dust, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Yu Qi. It was the terrifying man who had accompanied her.
Long Hui stood like an immovable mountain between Yu Qi and the dark-faced man, his expression so frigidly cold that the ambient temperature in the hallway seemed to plummet to sub-zero levels. His icy gaze locked onto the dark-faced man, radiating a suffocating, dense killing intent that felt like physical weight pressing down on the dark cultivator’s chest.
The dark-faced man instinctively stumbled a step backwards, his heart hammering against his ribs.
’This man is a monster...’
He had already tasted a fraction of Long Hui’s terrifying might earlier, when the man had forced him to his knees using nothing more than raw, unadulterated aura pressure. Now, watching him casually shatter a full-power, life-or-death strike with an offhand sweep, the dark-faced man finally realised the sheer depth of the abyss standing before him.
Long Hui was an entity he could not hope to challenge.
And he had just attempted to murder the man’s beloved right in front of his face.
The dark-faced man’s face drained of all colour, turning a sickly grey. He knew he was completely ruined.
"Don’t kill him." Yu Qi’s calm, smooth voice broke the suffocating silence.
Long Hui turned his head slightly toward her, his gaze instantly softening as he gave a curt nod. "Understood."
He then snapped his icy glare back onto the dark-faced man.
Before the evil cultivator could even attempt to cast a protective spell, Long Hui moved.
His speed transcended mortal sight. He materialised directly in front of the dark-faced man in an instant, his hand sweeping outward like a flashing blade straight toward the man’s wrists.
CRACK! CRACK!
The dark-faced man let out a bloodcurdling scream of agony as Long Hui cleanly severed the tendons in both of his wrists with two swift, blinding strikes.
Before the screams could even clear his throat, Long Hui struck again.
Two rapid, heavy strikes landed cleanly on his knees. The dark-faced man collapsed heavily onto the floorboards, his shattered limbs completely incapable of supporting his weight as wave after wave of excruciating pain washed over him.
Long Hui did not grant him a single second to recover.
He immediately jabbed his fingers into the dark-faced man’s core acupuncture points, completely sealing his meridians and severing his connection to his spiritual sea.
The dark-faced man frantically tried to spark his dark energy, only to find his internal pathways completely locked down, dead and unresponsive. His hard-earned cultivation had been utterly neutralised. He was completely helpless.
"Just kill me, you bastards!" The dark-faced man howled in a mixture of rage and terror, his bloodshot eyes burning with venom.
Long Hui completely ignored his furious shouting. He calmly subdued the man, ensuring he was entirely incapable of posing any lingering threat to Yu Qi or the team. Then, with a casual flick of his fingers, he sealed the dark-faced man’s vocal cords, cutting off his ability to utter another word.
The dark-faced man’s eyes widened in sheer outrage. He opened his mouth wide, desperate to hurl a volley of curses, but not a single thread of sound escaped his throat. All he could manage were pathetic, muffled grunts.
"Mmph! Mmph! Mmph!"
Unfortunately for him, no one bothered to cast a second glance at his pathetic attempts to protest.
By this time, the battle in the main hall was drawing to a swift, absolute conclusion.
One after another, the remaining evil cultivators were systematically cut down and eliminated by Yu Qi’s team. Only a small handful who had thrown down their weapons, dropped to their knees, and wept for mercy were granted a temporary reprieve.
Even so, Great-Grandpa Dian showed no foolish naivety. He immediately instructed the team to thoroughly seal the meridians of every single surviving captive, guaranteeing that none of them could circulate their energy or attempt a desperate escape.
