Without missing a beat, he stood up and hurriedly ushered his wife and children out of the holding room.

"Sir, please let us go as well! We truly have no connection to this woman’s family!" Another student pleaded, pointing an accusing finger at Lin Suyi.

"You...!" Lin Suyi glared murderously at the student.

"You what?! I have been sick and tired of your disgusting attitude all day! Just because you come from a wealthy family, you think you can treat everyone else like dirt! I genuinely despise you!" The student snapped back, losing his temper.

"Lin Suyi, you need to explain what is really going on here right now." The student leader demanded, his tone turning icy.

"Exactly! It was your idea in the first place to come tour this specific facility. Why here? Why didn’t you take us to your own mother’s research centre instead?" Another student pressed furiously, demanding answers.

Meanwhile, Yu Qi and Long Hui had already slipped out of the room, silently following Professor Shen and his subordinates to a private meeting room. Inside, the staff were analysing the entry logs and background profiles of everyone who had visited the research centre that day.

When the profile for Lin Suyi arrived on the screen, Professor Shen’s expression immediately turned icy. She was the daughter of Researcher Wang. Just last year, that stubborn woman had tried to approach him to initiate a joint research project. However, their core philosophies were completely incompatible, and the meeting had devolved into a bitter argument. That woman had actually dared to question his scientific methods. And now, her daughter had the audacity to show up at his facility, likely aiming to steal their proprietary data.

However, after observing Lin Suyi’s erratic behaviour in the holding hall through the security report, Professor Shen felt that something was not adding up. He began to suspect he might have misjudged the situation. He shifted his focus to the family of four who had departed early, turning to his assistant.

"Pull up the registration details for that family who left." Professor Shen barked the order.

The assistant immediately set to work, requesting the entry name from the front desk receptionist. Yet, after running the name through their central database, no records popped up. It was as if the individual did not exist in any official registry. The assistant then tried to cross-reference the transaction history to trace them through payment records, but to his frustration, the entry fee had been paid entirely in cash.

The assistant promptly reported his troubling findings to Professor Shen. Once again, Professor Shen’s brow furrowed heavily. His initial instincts had been spot-on.

"Do you have a clear picture of that family?" Professor Shen demanded.

The assistant printed out the highest-resolution capture of the family of four available in their system and handed the paper over.

"Professor Shen, I suspect... this family was scouting out our facility under a false identity." The assistant analysed cautiously. "After they staged their early departure, their main team must have moved in."

Professor Shen remained silent, lost in his own calculated thoughts. Even if that theory held weight, it still failed to explain how the ancient tree had vanished into thin air without a trace. That entity was literally the core power source of their entire operation. Without that ancient tree, how were they supposed to harvest the high-density spiritual energy required for their human experiments?

"Let them go." Professor Shen suddenly instructed.

"Who, sir?" The assistant asked, surprised.

"That group of students. They have nothing to do with this." Professor Shen stated coldly.

"Yes, Sir." The assistant stated.

The assistant immediately contacted the security detail guarding the holding hall, relaying Professor Shen’s explicit order to release the students.

Without questioning the command, the guard stepped into the hall and announced the immediate release to the group. The students breathed a massive sigh of relief, delighted that their ordeal was over.

However, Lin Suyi seemed intensely dissatisfied with how things were concluding. She marched up to the armed guard, crossing her arms arrogantly.

"You have obviously realised that I am completely innocent! So, where is your formal apology for detaining me?" Lin Suyi demanded loudly.

The guard merely stared back at her with a cold, unbothered expression.

The other students, who were already edging toward the exit, froze in utter disbelief upon hearing her ridiculous demand. They were utterly speechless at her complete lack of survival instincts.

"Lin Suyi, if you want to stay here and pick a fight, stay by yourself! We are leaving right now!" The student leader snapped, completely done with her drama.

"Yeah! Let’s get out of here before they change their minds!" another student chimed in.

Nodding in full agreement, the group quickly rushed toward the open hall doors, eager to put as much distance between themselves and the facility as possible.

"I just want justice! I was wrongfully accused!" Lin Suyi shouted after them.

Yet, not a single person stopped in their tracks or even slowed down to wait for her.

"Miss Lin, I suggest you leave right now." The guard warned her in a low, ominous tone. "Otherwise, you might find that you would not be allowed to leave at all."

Hearing the subtle threat in his voice, Lin Suyi felt a sudden surge of fear. Realising she might actually be left behind, her arrogant facade crumbled. She quickly turned around and scampered after her group to exit the premises.
