Chapter 94: Chapter
Yimei stood frozen by his bed, her heart pounding in her chest. She stared at Zhengyu, her jaw practically dropping open.
"Sleep in your room?!" Yimei gasped, her hands immediately flying to her hips. "Bai Zhengyu, have you lost your mind? That was not part of the deal!"
"Command number six," Zhengyu repeated calmly, his voice smooth and completely unbothered. He pointed a long finger toward the wide bed behind him. "You said you would do whatever I asked for twenty-four hours. My time is not up until tomorrow morning. Are you going back on your word, First Young Madame?"
Yimei narrowed her eyes, glaring at him with pure heat. "I said I would obey your commands, not sleep in your bed! There is only one bed in this room!"
"Then we share it," Zhengyu replied smoothly, leaning back in his wheelchair as if he had just suggested drinking a cup of tea. "It is cold outside, and the fire in my room is warm. Besides, we are married. Why are you acting so scared? Do you think I am going to eat you?"
Yimei let out a sharp huff, crossing her arms tightly over her chest. "Scared? Me? In your dreams!"
"Then prove it," Zhengyu said, a tiny, teasing smirk playing on his lips. "Sit down."
Yimei gritted her teeth. She looked at his smug, handsome face, then at the wide, cozy bed piled high with the soft, thick cotton quilts Qinqin had brought earlier. The cold air outside was already biting through her clothes. She knew if she ran back to her side chamber now, he would tease her about being a coward for the rest of her life.
"Fine!" Yimei snapped softly, kicking off her shoes and sitting down on the edge of the mattress. "But if you cross the middle line, I am kicking you off this bed!"
"Fair enough," Zhengyu chuckled, his voice deep and warm in the quiet room.
He gripped the wooden armrests of his wheelchair, preparing to move himself over to the bed. But instead of calling Liu Feng inside to help him like he usually did, Zhengyu’s jaw tightened with a sudden, fierce stubbornness.
He didn’t want to look weak in front of her. Not tonight.
Zhengyu placed his hands firmly on the bedframe and pushed himself upward, trying to force his bad legs to take his weight.
"Zhengyu, wait! What are you doing?!" Yimei cried out, reaching forward. "Call Liu Feng!"
"I don’t need Liu Feng," Zhengyu grunted through gritted teeth, his face turning pale from the intense effort.
His knees shook violently. For a split second, he managed to stand upright on his own two feet. But his numb, frozen legs suddenly gave out beneath him.
"Ah—!"
Zhengyu lost his balance, falling forward with a heavy thud.
Yimei didn’t think twice. She lunged forward, catching his broad chest in her arms before he could hit the hard wooden floorboards. The heavy impact threw them both onto the soft mattress, with Zhengyu landing heavily right on top of her!
Yimei let out a soft gasp as his broad shoulders pinned her against the pillows. His face was just inches from hers, his dark, sharp eyes wide with shock, his warm breath fanning across her lips. For a long, silent second, neither of them moved. The room was so quiet they could hear the fast, heavy beat of each other’s hearts.
"Are you insane?!" Yimei yelled softly, her voice full of panic as she pushed against his chest. "You could have broken your head on the floor!"
Zhengyu’s face flushed red with deep shame and anger at his own useless body. He quickly rolled off her, lying on his back and turning his face away toward the wall.
"Leave me alone," Zhengyu growled bitterly, his voice hard as iron. "Go back to your room."
Yimei didn’t listen. She sat up, her eyes immediately scanning his body. She pulled his dark blue robe up past his knees, inspecting his legs with her sharp medical eyes.
Right on his left knee, a big, ugly purple bruise had already formed from hitting the wooden side of the bedframe.
"Look at this!" Yimei scolded, her eyes hot with worry and anger. "You bruised your leg! Does it hurt?"
"I can’t feel anything in these useless legs anyway," Zhengyu snapped bitterly, his hands clenching into tight fists against the bedsheets. "So it doesn’t matter. Stop looking at me."
Yimei felt a sharp prick of pain in her heart at his hopeless tone. She swung her legs off the bed, grabbed her wooden medicine box from the table, and pulled out a small jar of warm herbal balm.
She climbed back onto the bed, sitting right beside his legs.
"It does matter," Yimei said softly, her voice dropping into a gentle, soothing tone. "Your legs are healing, Zhengyu. The blood is starting to flow again. Just because you can’t feel the skin yet doesn’t mean you can throw your body around like trash."
She scooped up a glob of green, fragrant herbal balm onto her fingers and placed her soft hands directly onto his bruised knee.
Zhengyu stiffened completely. His breath hitched in his throat.
Yimei began rubbing the warm balm into his skin using smooth, slow, circular motions. Her touch was gentle, full of careful warmth as she worked the medicine deep into his muscles to clear the trapped blood.
"You are so stubborn," Yimei murmured, looking down at his leg as she kept rubbing the warm oil. "Trying to act like a grand hero in front of me... Next time you want to move, just tell me. I am your wife. It is not embarrassing to ask me for help."
Zhengyu didn’t answer. He couldn’t.
Because as her soft, warm fingers kept rubbing the inner side of his thigh, moving higher and higher to clear the cold tension, a sudden, powerful surge of heat rushed straight down to his lower body.
Even though his legs were still numb from the poison, his natural male instincts were completely alive!
Zhengyu’s body reacted instantly to her close touch. Down beneath his thin silk sleeping pants, his little brother suddenly woke up, standing stiff, hard, and proud right before her eyes!
Zhengyu’s eyes went wide in utter horror. A deep, bright red blush spread instantly from his neck straight up to his ears, making his face burn like hot coal!
"Y-Yimei... stop!" Zhengyu choked out, his voice turning raspy and tight. He quickly reached down, grabbing her wrists to pull her hands away. "Stop touching me! I am fine!"
Yimei frowned, completely misunderstanding his panic. "Stop moving! The bruise goes all the way up your thigh! If I don’t rub this balm in, the blood will freeze tomorrow!"
"I said stop!" Zhengyu gasped, trying to pull his lower body away, but his legs wouldn’t move fast enough.
"Don’t be a baby!" Yimei barked softly.
She used her weight to lean forward, pinning his strong chest down against the mattress with her left hand while her right hand reached further up his thigh to rub the remaining balm into his skin.
"I am a doctor, Bai Zhengyu, stop throwing a temper tan—"
Yimei froze mid-sentence.
Her hand, which had been reaching up his inner thigh, had bumped straight into a thick, rock-hard, burning hot tent rising right between his legs!
The entire room went dead silent.
Yimei’s hand rested directly on top of his hard, throbbing little brother.
Yimei blinked once. She blinked twice. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out.
Slowly, very slowly, her dark eyes moved down from his red face to her own hand resting on his lower body. She gave it a small, accidental squeeze to check what it was.
"Ah—!" Zhengyu let out a low, rough gasp, his eyes shutting tight, his jaw clenching so hard it looked like it might snap. His entire body trembled under her touch, his face burning so red it looked like he was on fire.
Yimei’s face instantly exploded into a bright, flaming red!
"O-Oh!" Yimei shrieked softly, snatching her hand back as if she had just touched burning hot iron! She tumbled backward on the bed, her face burning like hot fire, her heart slamming against her ribs like a trapped bird.
"I-I... I didn’t mean to!" Yimei stammered wildly, her hands flying up to cover her red cheeks, her confidence completely flying out the window. "I was just... the balm..."
Zhengyu lay on the bed, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling fast. He quickly pulled the thick cotton quilt all the way up to his waist, hiding his stubborn, standing little brother from her view.
He turned his head away, his ears so red they were almost purple. "You... you crazy woman," he rasped out, his voice low, thick, and rough. "I told you to stop touching me..."
Yimei hid her face behind her hands, feeling so embarrassed she wanted to dig a hole into the floor and jump inside. "How was I supposed to know your... your little brother was so active?!" she whispered frantically.
Zhengyu let out a low, embarrassed groan, covering his eyes with his arm. "My legs are sick, not my whole body! I am still a man!"
Yimei sat frozen on the corner of the bed, her cheeks burning hot, her heart racing uncontrollably. But as the sheer awkwardness of the moment settled in, she looked over at the powerful, arrogant First Young Master currently hiding under a blanket like a blushing teenager.
A tiny, quiet giggle suddenly escaped her lips.
Zhengyu pulled his arm down, glaring at her with red cheeks and sharp, embarrassed eyes. "Are you laughing at me?"
"No! No, I am not," Yimei lied quickly, biting her lower lip to suppress a huge smile. "It’s just... it’s a good sign! It means your blood is moving very well. My treatment is working!"
"Silence!" Zhengyu gritted out, his cheeks turning even redder. "Not another word about this!"
