Chapter 120: Chapter

"You won’t need to do that... you will be able to follow your master."

Yimei and Liu Feng both turned around to see Madame Bai walking toward them across the snowy courtyard.

Yimei looked at her mother-in-law in surprise. "Mother? What do you mean?"

Inside the room, Zhengyu stayed still in his wheelchair, not coming out into the cold, but his sharp ears listened carefully to every single word.

Madame Bai stopped in front of them, wrapping her warm cloak tight around herself. "I went to see your grandmother early this morning. I pleaded with her to let Liu Feng come along with us, since Zhengyu is crippled."

She looked down at Liu Feng, her voice soft but serious. "Old Madame Bai agreed, but under one condition. If Liu Feng comes, he cannot be treated as a servant of the Bai family. He won’t receive any wages or food from the estate. He will be treated like a regular commoner."

Hearing those words, Liu Feng didn’t hesitate for even a second. He immediately pressed his forehead flat against the snowy ground, bowing deeply. "I agree! I agree completely! I don’t need wages or food from the Bai family! I just want to serve Young Master!"

Yimei let out a quiet sigh of relief, glad that the loyal guard wouldn’t be left behind after all.

Madame Bai smiled gently, then turned to face Yimei. She reached into her sleeve, pulled out a neatly rolled-up paper file, and held it out.

Yimei looked at the paper, her eyebrows raising slightly. "Mother, what is this?"

"These are the deeds for the shop I own in the southeast," Madame Bai explained warmly, placing the file directly into Yimei’s hands. "It has been almost a month since you married into our family and became my daughter-in-law, yet I have never given you a proper gift. Let this shop deed be my present to you."

Yimei stared at her, genuinely taken aback.

"I have already informed your grandmother about it," Madame Bai continued smoothly. "She knows that this shop is my own personal property and does not belong to the Bai family estate. Because of that, any money you make from it will belong completely to you, and Old Madame will not object."

Yimei looked down at the shop deed, then back at Madame Bai’s kind face. In this cold, greedy family, she hadn’t expected her mother-in-law to be such a genuinely good person.

"Thank you, Mother," Yimei said, her tone full of genuine respect. "I will make good use of it."

Madame Bai nodded gently. "The carriages will be leaving in a few hour, so get everything ready."

Before turning to leave, Madame Bai paused, her gentle eyes drifting toward Zhengyu’s bedroom door with a quiet, warmth. Seeing that her son was safe, she turned around and walked back toward the main courtyard.

Yimei looked at the paper file in her hand, a clever, confident smile slowly spreading across her face.

Yimei turned to Liu Feng with a quick, practical look. "Get up and go get your things ready. Make sure your young master’s luggage is packed as well instead of just kneeling there."

Liu Feng nodded quickly, wiping the cold slush from his knees. "Yes, Young Madame!" He scrambled to his feet and hurried off to gather their belongings.

Once he was gone, Yimei pushed open the door and stepped back into Zhengyu’s room. He was still sitting near the window in his wheelchair, gazing quietly at the falling snow outside, completely lost in his thoughts.

Yimei slipped the shop deed safely into her inner sleeve and set her wooden acupuncture box down on the table with a soft thud.

"Liu Feng isn’t here, so I’ll help you onto the bed," Yimei said, stepping closer to his wheelchair.

Zhengyu didn’t say a word, remaining completely silent. Taking his silence as a green light, Yimei bent down, wrapped her arms securely around his waist and shoulders, and lifted him up.

Thanks to the martial arts strength upgrade she had bought using her system points, she barely felt any strain. She lifted his heavy frame effortlessly, holding him steady without wobbling or losing her balance for even a second before placing him down gently onto the mattress.

Yimei didn’t hesitate. She rolled up his trouser legs and opened her wooden box, pulling out the thin, silver acupuncture needles one by one.

As she leaned over his knees to place the first needle, Zhengyu looked down at her. His dark eyes were quiet and unreadable.

"Aren’t you curious?" Zhengyu asked softly. "I didn’t show any reaction at all, even after my mother went to plead with Grandmother for Liu Feng to follow me."

Yimei didn’t stop her hands. She inserted another needle with practiced precision, her face completely calm.

"If I asked, you wouldn’t tell me anyway," Yimei answered casually, not even looking up. "So why should I bother asking?"

Zhengyu didn’t reply. He just stared down at her dark hair as she worked in steady silence, his mind drifting back into his own heavy thoughts.

When she was finally done with the session, Yimei wiped her hands, packed her needles back into the wooden box, and closed it with a soft click. She left him resting on the bed for a few moments to let his muscles adjust before turning back to face him directly.

"Your session doesn’t need to be two hours long anymore. According to Grandmaster Zhang’s instructions, the nerves in your legs are finally starting to wake up. Fifteen minutes of direct needle work every morning will be more than enough from now on."

She looked straight into his dark, distant eyes, her expression serious.

"I don’t know what exactly happened to you three years ago," Yimei said, her voice smooth and clear in the quiet room. "I don’t know what happened to make you hate everyone in this estate so much. You hate your father, you hate your mother... but the person you hate the most in this world is yourself."
