Chapter 69 Lucky's Adventures In The Beast Plane
Rustle! Rustle!
The grass and the leaves of the trees danced to the tone of the night breeze.
The greenery of the forest now had a tone of dark and red to it as the red moon shone its light on the forest. Like the sun, the moon served as the night supplement that supported the growing ecosystem of this forest.
The dancing grass and leaves of the giant trees were just one part of the forest, the more passive side. The more active side of the forest was dangerous.
A group of ants moved through the bare forest floor, taking advantage of their small size and the moon as camouflage to blend into the night without being seen. They remained successful for the most part as they searched for food.
A few minutes later, they were marching back to their hideout with particles of food and grass on their mandibles.
While they marched, a pair of eyes watched them from the dark.
As the ants marched underneath a fallen green leaf on the ground, a pair of raptiorial claws launched out like a spring. The praying mantis who remained hidden since got its food as it ruthlessly killed some of the ants.
Having hid in the green grass since, its patience paid as it feasted on its food happily. As soon as it finished eating though, it felt the grass behind it shudder.
With a slight whooshing sound, the tongue of a chameleon who also changed its color to blend with the surrounding greenery arrived, grabbing the mantis like a glue and retracting as the chameleon easily swallowed its prey.
It was a never-ending circle, and as all this happened, for the most parts, the forest remained dark and silent like nothing happened.
In other parts of the forest, the commotion was bigger.
The grass rustled sharply as a small rabbit rushed through an underbush in search of food. In no time, it soon discovered a small shriveled grass growing a nut on its flower, the excited rabbit grabbed the nut and started chewing away.
It barely started chewing before a slight hissing sound reverberated.
Before the rabbit could understand what was happening, the python wrapped it from the legs rapidly, giving it no time to react as it soon started swallowing it. The rabbit struggled but it could not overpower the python.ππππ΅xt.ππΆπ
At other parts of the forest, it was noisier as growls and roars reverberated, life went on as beasts preyed and fed on other beasts.
After wandering for days in the beast plane, Lucky found herself here. Despite her incredible luck, till now, she was yet to find another fox.
After leaving Legolas, she set out to build her own fox pack. She was unsuccessful though as she didn’t even know where to find foxes, and the worst part of it all was the constant threat to her life.
Lucky hid in the darkness with her eyes open and alertly watching her surroundings as she found it hard to sleep.
Having been attacked more than 8 times since she entered this forest in just 2 days, she dared not sleep out of fear of being killed.
Her only saving grace was that in the night under the illumination of the moon, all her attributes increased by 50%.
As she watched alertly, she suddenly felt a shift in the air.
Whoosh!
The huge Owl descended from a nearby tree with swift momentum.
Lucky reacted instantly as she sprang up from the under bush where she hid. Having fended for herself and fought for her life for over a week already, her danger and battle instincts already developed than before.
Lucky dashed to the side, barely dodging the deadly lunge of the Owl as she turned with a furious expression on her face to retaliate against the Grade E Owl.
Lucky instinctively activated both her Calm Fighter and Moon Power skills.
The Owl flapped its powerful wings with the intention to stabilize itself in the air but Lucky was having none of that as she dived into the air to meet it.
Once her altitude was high enough, her claws became engulfed with a sharp wind energy as she clawed at the Owl with all the strength she could muster.
The Owl hooted loudly as the claw tore a hole through its powerful wing. Then it went berserk as it retaliated against Lucky like a rabid dog.
For a few minutes, Fox and Owl went back and forth as they fought aggressively. Amid the chaos though, the one constant was that every probability related outcome always came out in Lucky’s favor.
Under her luck glow, the Owl was so unlucky that Lucky finally snapped its neck after one last explosive effort. She didn’t escape the battle unscathed though.
The pain from her injuries made her sob. “Am I really so lucky? Legolas always say I am so lucky yet I always get injured when fighting against an equal”.
Though she already grew to mature far beyond her age, in the end, she was still a new-born fox that was not even 6 months old yet.
The pain made her scared but it also made her stronger. After the insult from Predator and Legolas, she was determined to save her face and if that meant enduring pain and injuries, she would enjoy it.
“I will never succumb to defeat!” She encouraged herself and went deeper into the forest. That night, it was like a force was leading her.
She encountered 3 more battles all against ferocious beasts that left her injured. After everything though, she went deep inside the forest until she saw the entrance to a strange cave.
Skeletons of different beasts filled the entrance to the cave.
Lucky was wary but her nose detected a scent that was calling towards her from inside the cave. She was scared but she trusted her instincts and went in.
All the way through, skeletons filled the cave.
She went deep enough until she arrived before a huge circular expanse inside the cave, a voice reverberated as soon as she arrived.
“They once tried to take my cave, they ended up as skeletons instead”.
Lucky activated her Moon Power skill again but she was not attacked, it took a few seconds before she calmed down. On looking closer, this was when she discovered the beast that startled her, he was⦠a fox.
“Welcome to my hideout, I sensed your energy 2 days ago when you entered the forest and I used my abilities to direct you here”.
“My name is Redmane, I am a Red Fox”.
Lucky kept her distance as she watched this first beast of her species that she had ever met with curiosity and wariness.
The fox didn’t mind as he turned to face her.
“I know you want to become a Grade D Fox, I can help you”.
Lucky was attracted by that but the fear and wariness that she grew to develop with experience after spending a week in the wild held her from replying immediately as she just kept on looking at this fox.
“Why did you direct me here?” She finally asked.
“Because you have a bloodline of royalty”. The Red Fox turned to face her and bowed. “Please let me be your follower, my Lord”.
Lucky looked with a confused expression on her face. “Huh?”
