Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 588 - 584: Cure What Sickness? Lovesickness
"How did it go? Did everything go smoothly today?"
Cecilia Sterling nodded. "It went very well. A lot of people showed up; Zelda said pretty much everyone she invited came. The only issue was his younger brother trying to stir up trouble, but I managed to shut him down."
Jasmine Sterling smiled without saying a word. Her daughter was always so resourceful; she knew she wouldn’t let Zelda be at a disadvantage on an occasion like today.
Upon entering the house, she headed straight for the kitchen. After having dinner with Lily earlier, she had specially prepared a matsutake soup for Cecilia—it was exquisitely flavorful.
She quickly ladled a bowl and brought it to her daughter. "Drink it while it’s hot. These are the matsutake mushrooms Mr. Jennings brought last time he visited. They’re top quality. I saw there was only a tiny amount in the box, so I couldn’t even bear to share any with Zelda."
That’s how mothers are; they always want to save the best things for their own children.
Cecilia understood her mother’s sentiment. She took a sip and couldn’t help but exclaim, "This is so flavorful. Delicious."
"Then have some more. There’s still plenty in the pot."
Cecilia nodded, then finally asked, "Is Lily asleep again?"
"She is." Jasmine Sterling sighed, unable to hide her concern. "She must have been sleep-deprived on set. In the two days she’s been back, other than going out once for a meal with her classmates, she’s been sleeping whenever she has a free moment. She needs to catch up on all that lost sleep to feel properly refreshed."
Cecilia understood the feeling. In her previous life, when she was doing scientific research, her schedule was also irregular. When you’re sleep-deprived, you just have to keep sleeping. Only after sleeping your fill does your body feel comfortable again.
"Well, she’s in no hurry to leave this time anyway. Director Alan’s new movie won’t start filming until next year at the earliest, and she wants to prepare for the role without any distractions. She definitely won’t be joining another film set in the meantime, so she’ll be able to get a good long rest."
Jasmine Sterling was happy to hear that. "That’s wonderful. The family can finally be together for a few months, and we can all celebrate the New Year properly."
Early the next morning, the two sisters finally saw each other.
Cecilia had just come downstairs in her pajamas when Lily shot up and leaped toward her gleefully. "Sis!"
Cecilia smiled and opened her arms to hug her sister. Looking at her complexion, she couldn’t help but ask, "You still haven’t slept well? You don’t look very energetic."
"I think I slept too much. I woke up with a bit of a migraine this morning." Lily pouted. "When I took Yoda out for a walk just now, the right side of my head just kept throbbing."
Chatting, the two sisters entered the kitchen together. Jasmine Sterling was making scallion pancakes. Seeing her two beautiful daughters, she was filled with a sense of happiness and said in high spirits, "I’m not going to the office today either. It’s so rare for both of you to be home."
"Where’s Ethan?" Lily asked curiously. "It’s Saturday. Didn’t he say he was coming back on Friday?"
Jasmine Sterling said dismissively, "Forget about him!"
Cecilia laughed. "He probably knows you’re not in a hurry to leave this time, so he’s not in a hurry to come back either."
Lily pouted, then turned to her mother and said, "Mom, after breakfast, I want to make a trip to the hospital."
Jasmine Sterling immediately grew tense. "Is the pain that bad?"
"Not really, but it’s a throbbing pain, and it’s getting on my nerves. I want to see a doctor and get some medicine for it."
Before Jasmine Sterling could speak, Cecilia cut in, "Then you can come with me later. I was planning on going to the hospital today anyway."
Lily was taken aback and asked instinctively, "Sis, are you sick too?"
Cecilia just gave a mysterious smile. "Who told you that going to the hospital means you’re sick? I’m going to cure an illness!"
"Huh?" Lily blinked in confusion. "Cure an illness? You’re going to treat someone? What kind of illness?"
Cecilia replied, "Lovesickness!"
Lily: "?"
That morning, Cecilia, meticulously dressed and with a full face of makeup, went to the hospital with her sister, who was beside her wearing a hat and sunglasses, completely barefaced.
Because her sister’s status was different now—while not exactly a top-tier star, she was still quite famous. It would be troublesome if she were recognized by fans.
What Lily was most concerned about was inconveniencing uninvolved passersby.
As it turned out, the sisters’ appearances today had a surprisingly effective result. With a radiant beauty like Cecilia around, almost no one noticed Lily, who was completely covered up next to her.
Instead of going directly to Emeric Grant to cut the line, Cecilia accompanied her sister to register, wait in line, see the doctor, and pick up her prescription. By the time they finished the whole process, it was almost noon.
"Sis, didn’t you say you had something to do at the hospital?"
"Nothing is more important than you. You’re a big star now, and since Yuna and the others aren’t here, I couldn’t just leave you here by yourself."
Touched, Lily linked her arm with her sister’s. "Then it’s my turn to accompany you. Didn’t you say you were going to cure someone of lovesickness? I’m so curious. Quick, take me to see what this person looks like!"
"Doesn’t your head hurt? Why don’t you go home and rest first?" Cecilia asked with a teasing smile.
Lily said urgently, "My head can hurt later. For now, just take me to see him."
She had obviously picked up on her sister’s hidden meaning—there was clearly something else going on for her at this hospital.
"Alright. I don’t know if he’s busy right now, but let’s go up and see."
"Sis, which department is he in? Internal Medicine? Surgery?"
Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Lily stared at the huge department sign in front of them, momentarily dumbfounded.
"What’s wrong?" Cecilia turned to look back at her sister.
Lily blinked. "A male OB-GYN?"
"That’s right."
Lily: "..."
Meanwhile, Emeric Grant’s office was quite lively. As luck would have it, Mr. Grant and Mrs. White had arrived.
"Your dad and I had a meeting nearby this morning and were passing by, so he wanted to come up and see you," Mrs. White explained softly. Today, she was dressed in a professional women’s suit, looking elegant and capable.
Mr. Grant surveyed Emeric Grant’s office with a look of disdain before finally sighing. "Look at you. You just refuse to come work at my place. Aren’t the conditions there much better than here?"
Hearing Mr. Grant start to lecture again, Mrs. White shot him a reproachful look. "He’s grown up now. Isn’t it normal that he doesn’t want to work right under you? He has his own ideas and ambitions, and isn’t he doing quite well now? The Second Military Hospital is a major hospital, no worse than your private one."
Emeric Grant looked at his father and, instead of taking the bait, asked directly, "Dad, I’m still at work. If there’s nothing else, you and Mrs. White should head back first."
"There is something." Mr. Grant glared, then quickly put on a smile. "I sent you messages, but you didn’t reply, so I had to come and ask you in person. When are you going to bring Cecilia home for a meal?"
Mrs. White also chimed in to help. "Last time at your great-grandfather’s birthday, it was so crowded and noisy. Your dad has been thinking about how he didn’t get a chance to have a proper chat with Cecilia. Bring her home, and I’ll cook something delicious for you both."
Emeric Grant’s heart skipped a beat, but his expression remained impassive. "We’ve been busy lately. Cecilia is busy too. Let’s talk about it some other time."
"Tsk!" Mr. Grant said, displeased. "How much time can one meal take? Besides, you’re off work by dinnertime, aren’t you?"
"How about you give Cecilia’s contact information to Mrs. White and let her extend the invitation personally?"
Mrs. White nodded with a smile. "That’s a good idea too. It shows that we value her."
