Good friends.

The more casually Emeric Grant said those two words, the colder Cecilia Langley’s heart grew.

Meanwhile, Cecilia Sterling sat upright in her seat, looked at Cecilia Langley, and said with a smile, "Hello, Cecilia Langley. Emeric often mentions you to me!"

Of course, he had never mentioned her. Cecilia Sterling was saying it on purpose.

If a man frequently brought up another woman to his girlfriend, it meant that woman wasn’t special to him. If she were some unforgettable childhood sweetheart or the one that got away, any normal man would surely avoid the topic in front of his girlfriend.

However, as a fellow woman, Cecilia Sterling held no personal animosity toward Cecilia Langley. She was only being Emeric’s girlfriend for a day.

But even as a one-day girlfriend, she had to commit to the role wholeheartedly to be worthy of Emeric’s trust. So, Cecilia Sterling clearly understood that in her current position as Emeric’s official girlfriend, this woman named Cecilia Langley would definitely not be friendly to her.

Sure enough, the moment she spoke, Cecilia Langley shot her an icy glare.

But her lips were curved into a smile, her entire expression radiating aggression.

Cecilia Langley raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her face. "Oh? Is that so? What exactly did he tell you about me?"

Cecilia Langley thought her aggressive front would intimidate Cecilia Sterling, making it clear that she had no place to interrupt while she was talking to Emeric.

And no matter how Cecilia Sterling answered, she could always reclaim the upper hand with a line like, "That’s right, we grew up together. We’ve always been very close."

But Cecilia Sterling simply tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and replied softly, "Just some trivial little things. I wasn’t very interested, so I didn’t pay much attention. I can’t recall."

Her tone seemed gentle, but the underlying aggression was even stronger than Cecilia Langley’s.

Cecilia Langley was a smart woman, too, and immediately understood the meaning behind Cecilia Sterling’s words. Her face darkened.

But she didn’t back down. Instead, she turned back to Emeric Grant. "I’m surprised you’d tell your girlfriend about our past."

"There’s nothing that can’t be mentioned. It was just casual conversation," Emeric Grant said calmly. "She wanted to know a bit about my past, to get to know me better."

As he spoke, he turned to glance at Cecilia Sterling, who looked up to meet his gaze. The way their eyes met made them look like a perfect match. Across from them, Mindy Grant couldn’t help but clasp her hands to her chest, absolutely fangirling over them!

"Is that so? Then I wonder who knows you better—your girlfriend, or your ’good friend’?" Cecilia Langley deliberately stressed the words "good friend," then shot a disdainful glance at Cecilia Sterling. "Do you even know Emeric’s blood type and star sign?"

Cecilia Sterling raised an eyebrow and nodded as if it were obvious. "Type A, Aries."

Cecilia Langley: "Do you know what he doesn’t eat?"

Cecilia Sterling: "He doesn’t eat celery, large intestine, or durian. As for fish, he only eats saltwater fish."

Before Cecilia Langley could ask another question, Cecilia Sterling continued on her own, "He likes cats but is allergic to their fur. He likes soft peaches but is also allergic to peach fuzz."

"When he was little, he had a stutter and got carsick, but both issues went away on their own when he was ten."

"He likes green and blue, but dislikes red and yellow..."

As she spoke, Cecilia Sterling pointed to the pale yellow cashmere coat Cecilia Langley was wearing. "The exact shade of yellow you have on."

Cecilia Langley: "...!"

Her face had turned as black as the bottom of a pot.

Listening to Cecilia Sterling rattle all this off in one go, Mindy was shipping them harder than ever.

Emeric simply stared at Cecilia Sterling, watching her handle the unexpected situation with such ease. He was inwardly shocked that she had actually memorized all that information about him.

"Is there anything else Miss Langley would like to ask about my boyfriend?" Cecilia Sterling asked, her expression a smiling mask, her eyes cold.

"That’s enough," Emeric Grant said, reaching out to interlace his fingers with Cecilia’s. He looked at Cecilia Langley and said softly, "Cecilia obviously knows me well, or she wouldn’t have agreed to be with me."

The implication was: I pursued her.

Cecilia Langley felt a pang of jealousy, but she still softened her expression and attitude, knowing what kind of occasion this was.

She just shrugged. "I’m your childhood friend. It’s only natural to ask a few extra questions the first time I meet your girlfriend. I didn’t mean anything by it."

Since the other party had backed down first, Cecilia Sterling naturally wouldn’t press the issue.

Emeric didn’t say anything. He just silently took a milk candy from the small dish in front of them, unwrapped it, and held it to Cecilia’s lips. "You’re just getting over being sick, and it’ll probably be a while before the meal starts. Have some candy first."

Cecilia opened her mouth, took the candy, and smiled at Emeric.

’I thought someone with his personality would be really stiff acting out a scene like this today,’ she thought. ’I didn’t expect him to be so good at it. All the little flirtatious glances and blatant public displays of affection seemed completely natural.’

Seeing this, Mindy wanted to scream out loud right then and there. ’Idol dramas have nothing on this! Shipping them in real life is the best!’

Besides, her brother and Cecilia were way better-looking than the actors in those dramas. Especially Cecilia—that face was just legendary. She was shipping them so hard she could faint!

"Bro, I want candy too!" Mindy said deliberately.

Hearing this, Emeric lifted his hand and pushed the whole plate of candy in front of his sister. "Help yourself!"

"How come you only unwrapped one for Cecilia?" Mindy pouted. "I want one too!"

Emeric said with a deadpan expression, "Then go get your own boyfriend."

With that, he stood up and took Cecilia Sterling’s hand, his voice softening. "My dad and grandpa should be arriving soon. Let’s go greet them at the door."

Cecilia Sterling nodded, letting Emeric lead her toward the main entrance.

Cecilia Langley sat there watching their retreating figures. Even though she didn’t want to admit it, they really did look perfect together.

She had always believed that no one was worthy of Emeric but her. Yet, seeing his girlfriend today... she was simply too beautiful, so beautiful that even Cecilia Langley herself had to admit it.

"They’re a perfect match, aren’t they, Cecilia?" Mindy’s voice drifted over faintly.

Cecilia Langley masked the expression in her eyes and pretended not to hear, taking out her phone and fiddling with it.

"Are you okay?" At the main entrance, Emeric asked apologetically, "She’s had a rather forceful personality since we were kids. Don’t mind her."

That whole scene had been completely unexpected. Emeric felt that Cecilia Sterling was an innocent party and shouldn’t have had to endure Cecilia Langley’s hostility and provocations for his sake.

But Cecilia Sterling just smiled sweetly, unconcerned. "It’s fine. She just likes you, that’s all. It’s not like she’s done anything wrong."

"It’s just that I’m not the type of person to let myself be taken advantage of. So, if she’s polite to me, I’ll naturally be polite to her. But on the other hand, if she tries to give me a hard time, I’m not going to just sit back and take it!"

Emeric looked at her face and could clearly see the starlight dancing in her eyes—confidence, clarity, and an effortless grace. In that moment, he clearly perceived the qualities that lay hidden beneath her beauty.

He had never imagined that Cecilia Sterling would be such a remarkable person.
