Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't

Chapter 532 - 528: When Are You Going to Inspect the Goods?

Seeing Mr. Young was also leaving, Director Sanders opened his mouth to ask him to stay—he hadn’t had his fill of drinks yet.

But ultimately, he didn’t say a word.

Just then, the half-open door to the private room was pushed open. Mr. Garrett’s wife appeared at the entrance and immediately spotted her husband just getting up from the floor.

She immediately gasped, "Honey! What happened to you?"

Her terrified gaze swept over the people in the room, and she immediately assumed her husband had been bullied.

And when she saw Cecilia, her eyes widened in an instant.

’It’s her?’

"What did you do to my husband?" the woman demanded, her voice sharp and her emotions spiraling.

Cecilia just gave the woman a cold, contemptuous glance before walking out without a word.

Seeing this, the woman was about to rush forward to block her path but was pulled back by Mr. Garrett.

"Honey! What on earth happened? Did they hit you?"

Mr. Garrett frantically shot her a look and shook his head. "Just be quiet!"

’He can’t afford to offend Mr. Young!’

As Mr. Young passed him, he shot him a warning glare. Mr. Garrett flinched, shrinking back and forcing a very ugly expression onto his face, but he didn’t dare say a word.

"Are you alright?"

Once they were outside the restaurant, Mr. Young asked with concern, feeling a little guilty.

’That man just now was utterly disgusting, daring to touch Cecilia. If I’d reacted faster, I should have punched him sooner.’

Cecilia shook her head nonchalantly. He had been disgusting, but Mr. Young’s kick had clearly been a heavy one.

She told Mr. Young about what happened in the parking lot, then chuckled. "If it weren’t for the parking incident giving me a bad impression of that couple, I might have just played along. I wouldn’t have just sat there, and he wouldn’t have gotten that kick and ended up offending you."

’You reap what you sow. People shouldn’t be so arrogant; otherwise, even the smallest thing can become a boomerang, coming back to hit you between the eyes when you least expect it.’

Still, she was very moved by how assertively Mr. Young had just protected her.

「Meanwhile.」

Finn Vance arrived at Cleanscape again.

The lights in the office were on. Jasmine poured him a cup of hot water and handed it to him.

"I just saw the damage outside your office. I’m so sorry." Finn Vance was full of self-reproach. He blamed himself for not raising his son properly, and even more for failing to restrain him, which led to him hurting Jasmine.

Hearing this, Jasmine just smiled gently. "It’s alright. We’ll get it fixed up again, it’ll just take some time."

"Um, remember to give me the list of damages. I’ll compensate you," Finn Vance said instinctively.

Jasmine nodded without any pretense of politeness. This was something Felix Vance should be responsible for; she wasn’t going to be falsely courteous.

Then, a silence fell over the office.

Finn Vance desperately wanted to say something. He clearly couldn’t bear for things to end with Jasmine like this, but his son’s actions had put him in an incredibly difficult position. The words were caught in his throat, unable to come out.

In the end, it was Jasmine who broke the awkward silence. She said softly, "Mr. Vance, let’s just call it quits. I know this is hard for you, but we both have to be realistic, don’t we?"

Finn Vance looked at Jasmine, his tender expression filled with struggle and reluctance.

But he no longer had the confidence to say, "Let’s give each other another chance," like he had last time.

’Felix is still in a detention cell.’

When Finn Vance didn’t speak, Jasmine slowly stood up. "It’s getting late. We should both be heading home."

"Jasmine, then... then can we still be friends in the future?" Finn Vance quickly asked, his tone utterly humbled.

’Perhaps in his mind, being friends meant there was still a chance. Once Felix changed his attitude and way of thinking, he could pursue Jasmine again.’

But Jasmine shook her head. "It’s better not to. A man with your qualifications, Mr. Vance, doesn’t need to be hung up on me."

Finn Vance slowly lowered his head. He had actually been prepared for this outcome, but only by hearing Jasmine say it to his face could he finally give up hope.

After Finn Vance left the office, his figure heavy with defeat, Jasmine lowered her gaze, her eyes stinging and turning slightly red. An indescribable mix of emotions welled up inside her.

’I’ve always been clear-headed. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been single for so many years, never easily falling into a relationship because of a man’s sweet talk or aggressive pursuit.’

’I’ve viewed my relationship with Finn Vance with the same rationality.’

’But I have to admit that Finn Vance is truly an outstanding man. After spending this time with him, I genuinely started to develop feelings, and my affection for him is undeniable.’

’Breaking up was unfortunate, but it was also reality.’

’Just as I said before, for people in their middle years, how could love alone be enough?’

Sorting through her emotions, Jasmine let out a long breath, turned back to switch off the company’s lights, and headed home.

「The next day at noon.」

Cecilia took the initiative to ask Wyatt Sherman out for lunch.

When she arrived at the restaurant, Wyatt was already there. Seeing her from afar, he eagerly stood up and waved. From a distance, he really looked like a sunny, handsome "golden retriever."

"Isn’t this place pretty far from your house? How did you get here so early?"

"I didn’t want you to have to wait for me," Wyatt said, looking at Cecilia. As he looked at her, the light in his eyes grew noticeably brighter.

Cecilia smiled helplessly and shook her head. "You don’t have to be so perfect about everything. My only requirement in these situations is that you’re not late."

After sitting down, Cecilia looked at Wyatt and asked, "I see you’ve been studying these past couple of days?"

Wyatt nodded lightly, a wronged look on his face. "You’ve been back for three or four days, but every time I asked you out, you said you were busy. I had no choice but to stay home and study."

"I really was busy. My sister-in-law gave birth. You’ve met her, she’s the one who brought us dumplings," Cecilia said with a smile.

"Ah!" Wyatt was startled. "That baby you posted on your Moments—that was your sister-in-law’s?"

"Who else’s would it be? It’s not like I gave birth to it!"

"That’s not what I meant."

"I know. See? The moment I had free time today, I asked you out!" Cecilia said, then looked at him seriously. "But since you’re preparing for your graduate school entrance exams, studying hard is what’s important. You can’t be thinking about seeing me all day."

"I understand. I was just kidding just now," Wyatt said quickly, afraid of putting pressure on Cecilia.

"Cecilia." Wyatt’s expression suddenly turned serious.

This made Cecilia blink inexplicably. "Huh?"

She looked at Wyatt and noticed his face was flushing an unnatural red, which made her even more surprised.

Wyatt seemed to have suddenly become nervous. His throat bobbed unnaturally as he swallowed, and then he asked in a low voice, "Um... we’ve known each other for over a month now, and you know how I feel about you. I... you..."

He suddenly trailed off, as if he found the next words difficult to say.

Cecilia frowned slightly, a puzzled look on her face.

Then, Wyatt gritted his teeth and blurted out, "When are you planning to inspect my goods?"
