Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 511 - 507: Both Detained
Finn Vance still wasn’t sure what had happened, but he knew that ending up at the police station was never a good thing. And he was certain his son was the one at fault.
He breathed a small sigh of relief upon seeing his son was uninjured. Then, he looked at Jasmine Sterling with a guilty expression. Just last night, they had decided to give each other another chance, yet now they were both here.
Finn Vance felt terrible. He admitted he was largely to blame for not having disciplined his son properly.
Too embarrassed to ask Jasmine, Finn Vance walked directly over to a police officer. "Officer, I’m Felix Vance’s father. Can you briefly tell me what happened?"
"No need for words. It’s more direct to see for yourself." The officer snorted. He could tell from Finn Vance’s bearing that Felix was a rich kid, a type of person the police generally disliked. He immediately took out his phone and handed it to Finn Vance.
Finn Vance’s heart pounded with apprehension. He was terrified he would see a video of his son hurting Jasmine.
But even without that, what Felix had done was enough to make his blood boil!
As Finn Vance watched the video, his expression grew cold, and his eyes seemed to burn with a fiery rage.
After finishing the video, he spun around, strode over to Felix, and almost instinctively raised his hand.
But when Felix felt his father’s fury, he showed no fear. Instead, he tilted his head back defiantly, glaring at his father and roaring, "Go on, hit me! You’ve never hit me in my entire life! Are you going to hit me now for this woman? Do it! Hit me!"
Finn Vance looked at his son, his eyes filled with pain and disappointment.
’Why?’
He didn’t understand. He truly didn’t understand.
In the end, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. His arm dropped limply to his side as he said, exhausted, "I’m not going to hit you. But you did something wrong, and you have to face the consequences."
"What do you mean? You’re going to let them detain me? You’re not going to help me?" Felix’s brows furrowed. He couldn’t believe that his father, who had never let him suffer even the slightest hardship, was abandoning him now.
’Didn’t I just teach that woman a little lesson? It’s not like I actually hurt her!’
"Do you care about her that much? Do you feel that sorry for her?"
Finn Vance looked at his son’s obstinate face and suddenly lost all desire to lecture him. Jasmine was right. He was already an adult with his own established mindset; a few words weren’t going to change him.
The only one to blame was himself, for failing to raise his son properly all these years.
Turning, Finn Vance walked over to Jasmine Sterling. "Jasmine..."
"Mr. Vance." Before Jasmine could speak, Cecilia Sterling stepped forward. "There’s no need for apologies right now. As a junior, I was very supportive of you and my mother. But I didn’t realize you had a giant baby living in your house. If I had known it would come to this, I would have stopped my mother from getting any closer to you."
Finn Vance was deeply ashamed. Yesterday, he’d had the courage to ask Jasmine for a chance. Today, he couldn’t bring himself to say a word.
Finally, he gave a slight nod. "I understand. We can talk about everything else later. Today, Felix must be held accountable for his actions."
Hearing his father’s firm tone, Felix laughed in a fit of fury. He nodded with a sneer. "Fine. Detain me! Go ahead!"
With that, he walked toward a small room on the side on his own accord.
The officer sighed at the sight. ’Today’s case seemed simple, but it turned out to be quite complex and dramatic, just like a TV show,’ he thought.
But in the end, Felix obviously wouldn’t get slapped for nothing. Cecilia Sterling would have to be detained as well.
But before she was taken into custody, she quietly sent a message to someone.
"Cecilia," Duane came forward and said calmly, "don’t worry. I’ll pull some strings. I should be able to get you out by tonight."
This was a small matter that Duane could handle.
Cecilia replied, "It’s fine. I’ve already contacted someone. In a bit, please take my mom home. It’s on your way, so you can also check on my sister-in-law. She’s been on edge lately, since my brother’s sentencing is coming up."
Duane nodded upon hearing this. "Okay. Let me know when you get out so we can all stop worrying."
"Okay."
Back at her mother’s side, Jasmine Sterling looked nervous. "Why did you have to run back? And you were so impulsive. Now you’ve gotten yourself detained too."
"It’s alright, Mom. That kid is a reckless punk. Words are wasted on him. You just have to get physical," Cecilia said, reassuring her mother with a relaxed expression.
Jasmine Sterling took her daughter’s hand and said hesitantly, "How about I contact Saul Thorne later? I’m sure he can do something."
"Don’t," Cecilia quickly stopped her. "We’ve already broken up. Let’s not bother him. Mom, don’t worry. Go home and make me something good to eat while you wait."
"You have a plan?"
"You really think I’m going to obediently stay in there for five days?" Cecilia grinned. "Duane will take you home in a bit. I promise you I’ll be back for dinner tonight."
Hearing her daughter say this, Jasmine Sterling was instantly relieved.
The conditions in the police station’s holding cells were extremely basic. They weren’t even separated by gender—just two adjacent rooms with iron bars, each containing nothing but a single cold bench.
One on the left and one on the right, Cecilia and Felix were led in one after the other.
"Hey, there’s no bed? How am I supposed to sleep?" Felix shouted in displeasure at the sight.
’I’m supposed to be in here for fifteen days!’
The officer shot him an impatient glance. "This is a holding cell, not a hotel. Ring the bell when you need the toilet. Three meals a day will be brought to you, free of charge."
Leaving him with those words, the officer left.
Felix opened his mouth, but ended up swallowing his words. He turned to look at Cecilia, who was sitting on the bench in the next cell. "You look pretty relaxed. No showers, no sunlight for five days. You think you can handle just sitting there like that?"
Cecilia stared at her shoes with a blank expression, not even bothering to acknowledge him.
Just then, someone else arrived at the police station.
In the main hall...
"My surname is Jennings. I’m here to see your chief."
About half an hour later, the sound of the outermost door to the holding cells opening could be heard.
Cecilia slowly stood up, a smile spreading across her lips.
Felix, however, assumed it was someone bringing food. But when he looked up, he saw a familiar person following behind the officer.
He was first startled, then overjoyed. "Mr. Jennings!"
Felix rushed excitedly to the bars and looked at Randall Jennings. "Did my dad send you to get me out? I knew he wouldn’t abandon me!"
Randall Jennings looked at Felix. He and Finn Vance were very close; because their corporate groups operated in different sectors, there was no competition between them, allowing for a purer and deeper friendship. Seeing Felix locked in a holding cell, he sighed helplessly. "You are just too immature!"
At that moment, however, the officer had already unlocked the door to Cecilia’s cell.
"Mr. Jennings, thank you for making this trip for me," Cecilia said softly as she walked up to Randall Jennings.
Felix’s eyes widened, and he froze, completely dumbfounded.
