Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 509 - 505: You Want to Die?
Jovar.
After spending the previous day exploring the fun spots in Downtown Jovar, the group set out early the next morning. Julian Summers drove them to the nearby Mount Providence Natural Scenic Area.
"The chairman of the Sullivan Group is personally chauffeuring you all. You must have done something great in your past lives to deserve this," Julian Summers said, not forgetting to praise himself as he drove.
Cecilia Sterling, sitting behind him, heard this and retorted, "With a car full of beauties like this, who’s the lucky one here? You, for getting the chance to be our driver?"
"It’s definitely your luck. I’m not interested in beautiful women," Julian Summers said with self-righteous confidence.
"I don’t believe that for a second!" Estelle Goodman knitted her brows. "What man isn’t interested in beautiful women? Mr. Sullivan, don’t tell me you like handsome men instead?"
Julian Summers’s hands slipped on the wheel, and he nearly drove the car into a ditch.
"Don’t talk nonsense! I’m a straight man, through and through," Julian Summers explained proudly. "Of course, everyone likes beautiful women, but I’m not that shallow. It just proves I’m a man of substance."
His comment made everyone burst out laughing.
Cecilia shook her head, speechless. She wouldn’t comment on whether Julian Summers had any substance, but she was inclined to believe he was immune to beautiful women.
As a woman, she had never felt uncomfortable around him. Even when they had occasional physical contact, you could tell he wasn’t trying to take advantage of her.
That was why the two of them had become such good friends.
"Grant, it must be tough working by Mr. Sullivan’s side every day, huh?" Estelle suddenly leaned over to Secretary Grant’s shoulder and asked.
Hearing this, Grant glanced at Julian Summers, a smile fighting to break free. She shook her head and denied it, "Actually, it’s fine. The boss is very good to us employees."
"See?" Julian Summers’s tail practically wagged. "Listen to the true voice of the people!"
Just as he finished speaking, the car braked and came to a steady stop in the parking lot at the foot of the mountain.
The group, in unison, put on their sun protection gear and got out of the car one by one. Estelle looked up at the majestic Mount Providence before them, a wave of regret washing over her. ’Why am I here?’
"Stop sighing and start climbing!" Blair said, pushing her forward from behind.
It was Golden Week, so Mount Providence was crowded with tourists. The group laughed and chatted as they followed the main crowd up toward the summit.
"Is anyone here afraid of heights?" Julian Summers suddenly asked, turning back to them.
Cecilia and the others heard him and shook their heads.
Julian Summers’s eyes lit up. "Great! There’s a sky swing and bungee jumping at the summit of Mount Providence. We should all try them later, or this trip will be a waste."
"Huh?" Jane Sterling heard this and immediately chickened out. "I’ll pass. I have a bad back."
Cecilia looked at her. "You didn’t mention a bad back when you were ’wrestling’ with that student athlete all night."
"Sis!" Jane Sterling clamped a hand over her mouth. "We’re in a public scenic area, not the middle of nowhere!"
The group burst into loud laughter, while only Lily Sterling blinked in confusion and asked in a low voice, "Sis, what does that mean?"
"Ahem." Cecilia immediately put on a serious face. "It’s nothing. Don’t ask."
Under the bright and scorching sun, the group climbed for nearly two hours before finally reaching the summit.
The wind at the top was much cooler.
"Hey, over there!" Julian Summers pointed to a distant cliffside attraction—the spot for the sky swing and bungee jumping.
But business was visibly slow. Very few people actually dared to do these kinds of extreme sports.
A staff member was energetically promoting it with a megaphone: "Welcome, friends and tourists from afar! Come experience Mount Providence’s signature extreme activities! Successfully complete either the sky swing or the bungee jump and receive a 20% off coupon for the Mount Providence Greenway Restaurant!"
There were plenty of onlookers, but they basically just wanted to watch someone else jump. No one was actually signing up.
Then, Julian Summers suddenly raised his hand excitedly. "Over here, over here!"
The staff member’s eyes lit up. "Welcome, handsome! Ready to take the challenge?"
But Julian Summers waved his hands, then gave a light push with his left and right hands, shoving Cecilia and Estelle, who were in front of him, forward. "Not me, these two are playing!"
Estelle:
She was scared to death!
"Are you crazy? Why don’t you go?!"
She said, ducking behind Blair.
Julian Summers said, "Weren’t you the one who said you’re not afraid of heights? If you succeed, you get a discount coupon for that restaurant. We’ll go there for lunch!"
Estelle clung tightly to Blair’s clothes. "I’m not afraid of heights, but I am afraid of dying!"
Cecilia also quietly retreated to the back, because she was genuinely afraid of heights.
But Julian Summers looked at her. "Then you go, Cecilia!"
Cecilia just gave him a polite smile.
"Alright, alright, I’ll do it!"
Just then, Blair stepped forward voluntarily. She actually wanted to do it.
Then, another timid voice spoke up. "I... I kind of want to try too..."
Everyone looked closely and saw, to their surprise, that it was Secretary Grant.
Even Julian Summers was shocked. "You dare to do this?"
Grant nodded.
In the end, Blair chose bungee jumping, while Secretary Grant surprisingly picked the even more terrifying sky swing.
And right at that moment, Cecilia suddenly received a text from her brother.
"Sis, there’s trouble at Mom’s company..."
Cleanscape, as the most competitive new company in the industry, had today hired a group of employees from other cleaning companies to clean its own storefront, which sounded novel.
But one look at the vast stretches of paint and graffiti made it clear that things weren’t so simple.
However, this incident didn’t affect the company’s normal operations. After the police came in the morning and took the surveillance footage, Jasmine Sterling didn’t let the matter bother her any further.
There were surveillance cameras all around, and she had also told the police about Felix Vance’s identity. She was confident they would catch the culprit soon.
Around five in the afternoon, Jasmine Sterling received a call from the local police station, informing her that they had caught the person and asking her to come down.
Jasmine Sterling left for the station immediately.
When she arrived at the police station, right in the lobby by the entrance, Jasmine Sterling once again saw Felix Vance, along with several friends who had helped him commit the crime.
Felix Vance, of course, saw Jasmine Sterling too. His face showed no trace of remorse. Instead, he smirked contemptuously. "Miss Sterling, we meet again."
Jasmine Sterling’s expression darkened slightly. If she could overlook Felix Vance’s words and actions in the office yesterday, today’s incident was of a completely different nature.
"You two know each other, right?"
The officer who had called them over asked, looking at them both.
Before Jasmine Sterling could even nod, Felix Vance cut in, "Yeah, she seduced my dad!"
Jasmine Sterling’s face froze. She was just about to speak when someone suddenly appeared behind Felix Vance and clapped a hand on his shoulder.
Felix Vance turned around instinctively. Before he could even see who was behind him, a slap landed squarely across his face.
SLAP! The crisp sound echoed clearly through the police station lobby.
Cecilia Sterling radiated a glacial aura, her eyes burning with fire. Staring down at Felix Vance’s stunned expression, she spoke in a frigid tone, "Are you looking to die?"
