Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 501 - 497: Which One Is Your Sister?
Yuna and Finn couldn’t help but be moved by the scene. Yuna turned her head to wipe away the tears she couldn’t hold back.
Blair also smiled in relief and gently patted the two sisters. "Alright now, visiting the set today was supposed to be a happy occasion, wasn’t it? Lily, don’t cry."
Lily Sterling nodded and sat up straight again, her beautiful eyes red and puffy from crying.
"Good thing I don’t have any more scenes today," she said, mocking herself as she dabbed at her eyes.
Cecilia Sterling heard this and said with a smile, "That’s perfect. We can all have dinner together tonight. Estelle and Jane are here too. They’re resting at the hotel right now."
Lily Sterling nodded, then a sudden, alarming thought struck her.
"Sis." She looked at Cecilia Sterling, her voice tinged with worry. "That George Lowe is a big shot in the industry. I’m afraid he won’t be easy to deal with."
"You think I’d be afraid of him?" Cecilia Sterling sneered dismissively. "A maggot is a maggot, no matter how powerful. It would’ve been one thing if he’d left you alone, but since he had the nerve to try something, he’d better be ready to face the consequences."
As she spoke, Cecilia Sterling pulled out her phone.
’Something like this needs to be handled by the professionals.’
"Sis, what are you planning to do?" Lily Sterling asked her sister, confused.
While texting Connie, Cecilia Sterling explained, "I’m going to drag this slimy bottom-feeder out of his gutter and let the whole world gather around to spit on him!"
George Lowe had been in the business for decades. The number of women he’d sexually exploited was simply unimaginable. Even if someone spoke up and exposed him, their accusations would likely vanish without a trace.
In this industry, trying to take down a powerful mogul on your own was like an ant trying to shake a tree. Over time, everyone had adapted to this reality, which only allowed men like him to become more and more brazen, acting without any scruples.
But since this affair involved Lily, she didn’t mind stirring the waters of this filthy cesspool. ’Who knows,’ she thought, ’I might even get a few pleasant surprises out of it.’
Meanwhile, in George Lowe’s dressing room, the atmosphere had dropped to a freezing point.
His rather bloated body was squeezed into a narrow chair. He tilted his head, staring for a long moment at the director, who stood trembling in the doorway.
No one else in the room dared to make a sound. The pressure was so suffocating it felt hard to breathe.
After a long pause, George Lowe’s voice, tight with suppressed fury, finally broke the silence. "Repeat what you just said."
The director, who had arrived ready to stand his ground, had now lost all his nerve. George Lowe was simply terrifying when he was angry.
He forced himself to remain standing on trembling legs. He avoided eye contact, his gaze drifting toward the ceiling. "Teacher Lowe, d-don’t be angry with me. It’s the investor’s decision. She wants to have you replaced."
"Hah, an investor?" George Lowe’s eyes turned cold. "What investor? Where did this investor crawl out from? Is there really an investor in this business who doesn’t know who I, George Lowe, am?"
"I-It’s Lily Sterling’s older sister," the director said, summoning his courage. "I just found out myself. This role is insignificant for someone of your stature, just a bit part. It’s no great loss to you if you don’t play it."
SLAM!
The sharp sound came as George Lowe slammed his fist on the table, making everyone in the room jump.
"Loss? I’m a goddamn actor! All roles are equal! There are no small parts!" George Lowe declared, striking a high-and-mighty, professional pose.
The director looked terrified, but inwardly, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
’Give me a break with the professionalism. Who the hell do you think you’re fooling?’
"This is the investor’s decision. If the investor doesn’t want you, there’s nothing we can do. We ask for your cooperation, Teacher Lowe," the director repeated.
He kept stressing that it was the investor’s decision, because he truly couldn’t afford to get on George Lowe’s bad side and was terrified the man would take his anger out on him.
"Cooperate? Go fuck your mother!"
Rage surged in George Lowe’s chest and he erupted with profanity. A man like him had little class to begin with, and he was even more foul-mouthed in private, so the director wasn’t the least bit surprised to hear it.
"Where is this investor? Tell her to come see me!" George Lowe commanded the director.
Cold sweat dripped down the director’s forehead. ’Yeah, right,’ he thought sarcastically. ’Like I have the power to make the investor come and see an old pervert like you.’
But on his face, he wore a pained, subservient smile. "Teacher Lowe, please don’t make things difficult for me. What power do I have? If you have a problem, you should take it up with the investor. I’m just the messenger."
"You motherfucker..."
The director didn’t want to argue. Things had already reached this point. "Cursing at me is useless. The production team is about to issue a public announcement. You should prepare to leave with your team tomorrow. We can only cover your hotel rooms until tomorrow night."
"This is all the investor’s decision. I’m only here to inform you on her behalf."
With that, the director fled, leaving everyone in the room to stare at each other in stunned silence.
Even though George Lowe only had a small part in this production, he’d brought a large entourage—four assistants, plus various other staff members. There were more than a dozen people in the room at that moment, the majority of them, naturally, being women.
No one dared to speak up, except for his agent, a middle-aged man in his forties who had been with George Lowe for many years.
"Teacher, don’t waste your breath on some director. It’s the investor, right? For her to offend you, isn’t that just asking for trouble?" The agent’s words immediately revealed he was no saint either, as he fanned the flames. "Let’s go take a look. We’ll go and ’meet’ this sister of Lily Sterling’s!"
George Lowe was so furious he actually laughed. "She dares to replace me? Kids these days, really something else. So arrogant. If I let some little girl get the best of me, then my decades in this business will have all been for nothing!"
With that, he heaved his hefty body to its feet and stormed out menacingly.
The agent immediately motioned for two male staffers to follow and warned the rest not to breathe a word of what had happened today.
It was almost dinnertime. In the dressing room, Cecilia Sterling and Blair were sprawled on the sofa, scrolling through their phones to find a good local restaurant.
Cecilia Sterling: "Seafood?"
Blair: "We’re not near the coast, so it probably won’t be any good. How about a stew?"
Cecilia Sterling: "This is the south, not the northeast. We might as well just get hot pot."
Blair: "We can get hot pot anywhere. What about a restaurant that serves local specialties?"
Cecilia Sterling: "That could work... let’s see what their specialties are..."
The two of them were the picture of relaxation.
Lily Sterling watched her two sisters with a serene expression, unable to offer any real suggestions. For the past few months, she had eaten nothing but the crew’s catered meals.
"Let’s just go with this one. I’m starving. Send the location to the group chat and tag Estelle and Jane." Cecilia Sterling decided the menu looked decent. It was a reputable, upscale restaurant specializing in local cuisine.
But just as they were about to leave, the door to the dressing room was kicked wide open.
That’s right. Not pushed, and certainly not knocked on. It was kicked open, and all of them got a clear look at the foot that did it.
A scowling man strode in, glaring viciously at Lily Sterling. "Which one of you is her sister?" he demanded.
