Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 495 - 491: Isn’t This a Bit Too Fast?
Once inside the villa, Cecilia Sterling proactively took the porcelain bowl to the dining room and set it on the table. The bowl was still scalding, a clear sign the dumplings had just been cooked.
It was rare to have a stranger visit, so Yoda excitedly wagged his little tail and circled Wyatt Sherman.
Wyatt stood somewhat self-consciously in the center of the living room, quietly awaiting Cecilia’s next instruction.
"Have a seat. I’m going to separate the dumplings, otherwise they’ll stick together."
As Cecilia spoke, she went into the kitchen and brought out two plates. Hearing her, Wyatt picked up Yoda, walked over to the sofa, and sat down, his eyes still unable to resist scanning the villa’s interior.
A moment later, Cecilia emerged from the dining room. She looked at Wyatt and called out, "Come on, follow me upstairs!"
"Huh?"
Wyatt shot up from the sofa, his expression shifting dramatically in an instant.
He glanced around nervously, gently tossed Yoda onto the sofa, and looked at Cecilia, asking hesitantly, "Right now?"
’The dumplings are still in the dining room. Aren’t we going to eat?’
Seeing his expression, Cecilia knew exactly what was on his mind. But she neither confirmed nor denied it, simply nodding along with him. "Upstairs first."
With that, she turned and headed upstairs first.
Wyatt’s throat and lips suddenly felt dry. He darted his pink tongue out to lick his lips, his Adam’s apple bobbing before he quickly followed her.
Cecilia randomly chose a guest room. Standing at the bathroom door, she turned to look at Wyatt and said, "Go take a shower first."
Wyatt blinked. He could hardly believe what was happening; it felt like a dream.
’Isn’t... isn’t this a little too fast?’
Seeing him dazed, Cecilia added, "Go on, don’t be shy. My mom usually doesn’t get back until after midnight."
’The implication of that comment...’
Wyatt swallowed, his mind already racing with fantasies. He quickly nodded and ducked into the bathroom before he could pitch a tent.
Cecilia watched the bathroom door close, an irrepressible smile playing on her lips.
She then returned to her own room, locked the door, and went into her bathroom as well.
She washed off the day’s stickiness with warm water, instantly feeling refreshed. After changing into loose, comfortable loungewear, Cecilia left her room and went straight downstairs to the dining room.
Meanwhile, Wyatt, freshly showered and wearing only a pair of underwear, sat on the edge of the guest room bed, awaiting Cecilia’s summons.
He waited and waited, but she never came.
’But I definitely heard someone walking on the stairs just now!’
Puzzled, he put his shirt and shorts back on and returned downstairs, where he could faintly hear a sound coming from the kitchen.
He walked over and peeked in, just in time to see Cecilia taking a jar of pickles from the refrigerator.
"All clean?"
When Cecilia saw Wyatt, she suppressed the urge to laugh and greeted him naturally. "Come, sit down. I snuck one just now. My sister-in-law’s dumplings are amazing."
Wyatt was still completely lost.
’Wait... what about all those hints just now...’
’And the shower...’
’Was that...?’
"Sit down!"
Wyatt didn’t snap out of it until Cecilia called to him again. He couldn’t help but feel embarrassed by his own lewd thoughts, and he avoided her gaze as he walked to the table and sat down.
Cecilia opened the glass jar, placed some of the pickles onto the small dish in front of Wyatt, and then, without any warning, asked him directly, "What was going through your head just now?"
In an instant, Wyatt’s face flushed red all the way to his neck.
It was the first time Cecilia had ever seen a guy look so utterly abashed.
"I..."
Cecilia popped a dumpling into her mouth and watched him expectantly as she chewed.
She just wanted to see if Wyatt’s honest nature would hold up even now.
"I’m sorry," Wyatt suddenly apologized, actually admitting it. "I thought you... you wanted to..."
Cecilia suddenly laughed. "We were out all day, and it’s so hot. We were bound to be sweaty. How uncomfortable would it be to sit and eat dumplings feeling all sticky?"
"I misunderstood," Wyatt said, scratching his head. He looked at Cecilia, trying to salvage some dignity. "But don’t get the wrong idea. I wasn’t... I just accidentally let my mind wander."
He actually wanted to say, ’I thought you were dropping hints,’ but he didn’t dare.
"You don’t have to explain. I was teasing you on purpose. It would’ve been hard *not* to get the wrong idea." Cecilia’s smile softened considerably. She looked at Wyatt and said, "But I like your honesty."
"Huh?"
Cecilia smiled and gestured for him to eat his dumplings.
After eating two dumplings, Wyatt looked up again. "Cecilia, besides being honest, do you think I have any other good qualities?"
Cecilia blurted out, "You’re emotionally stable, you have a good personality, and most importantly, you’re handsome!"
"So you’re all about looks?"
Cecilia raised an eyebrow, not denying it in the slightest. "Yep. Who isn’t?"
She looked at Wyatt and retorted, "If I were just an average-looking person, and we were complete strangers, would you have spotted me in that massive crowd on the first day of school?"
Wyatt couldn’t argue. He had, in fact, been drawn in by Cecilia’s stunning looks.
When it comes to attraction between strangers, appearance is the most direct weapon.
’And money!’
"There’s nothing embarrassing about admitting you like good-looking people. Everyone appreciates beauty, after all."
Wyatt nodded, happy. The fact that Cecilia had listed some of his other good qualities meant she’d been paying close attention to him.
’Which meant he had a chance.’
"So besides that, do you have any other requirements for a partner?" Wyatt decided to probe further.
He wanted to know his odds. If Cecilia had other requirements, he wanted to know what they were so he’d have a clear goal to work toward.
However, Cecilia just glanced at him and said, "As for the rest... I’ll have to find out after a test run."
Wyatt froze, not understanding for a moment.
"But it’s still too early for that," Cecilia added.
This time, Wyatt understood instantly. His eyes filled with shock and surprise, as if he’d never expected Cecilia to say something so bold.
"What’s with that look? Is this some kind of taboo topic we can’t discuss?" Cecilia’s smile vanished, her expression turning sharp. "Or... do you have some kind of secret problem?"
"No!" Wyatt denied with a dead-serious expression. "No problems whatsoever! I’m... amazing!"
He only realized what he’d said after the words were out, and his face flushed red again. "I mean..."
"I get it. What man would ever admit he can’t perform?"
"No, I really *can* perform! I’m not trying to hide anything." Wyatt was getting flustered. "Really! I won’t disappoint you."
Cecilia was discovering she enjoyed teasing him more and more. The moment she did, he’d blurt out just about anything.
Still, she couldn’t completely take his word for it on whether he could perform or not.
’Back then, Shawn Lane had also sworn up and down that he was amazing!’
