Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't

Chapter 493 - 489: You Damn Girl, You’re Eating Really Well

  • Next Chapter

Cecilia Sterling wasn’t some naive little girl, of course. And while Jane’s words were crude but true, this was just *too* crude!

’People who grow up abroad are really different.’ Jane was more uninhibited and free than even her, a woman who had lived for over sixty years. When it came to relationships, Cecilia had always considered herself quite worldly-wise.

But Jane Sterling was no slouch either. In fact, on certain subjects, her views were even more progressive and daring than Cecilia’s.

Once the guys had finished their fun, the group returned to the campsite, only to find that everything had been packed up. Even the trash was cleaned away.

Wyatt Sherman was there, loading a car all by himself.

"Damn, Wyatt! We were all just looking for you, wondering where you’d gone. Turns out you were here cleaning up the mess all by yourself?"

"You packed all this up?"

"Wyatt, you’re making the rest of us look like assholes!"

As they spoke, everyone started to pitch in, but there wasn’t much left to do. Wyatt Sherman had already taken care of almost everything on his own.

"You know, Wyatt is pretty considerate." Seeing this, Jane Sterling leaned in and whispered to Cecilia again. "That’s a definite plus. You can be a little flexible on the size department, but it can’t be *too* small."

Cecilia quickly clapped a hand over Jane’s mouth. "Honey, we’re in the suburbs, not the middle of nowhere! Be quiet, what if someone hears you? Anyone listening would think I’m incredibly thirsty!"

"Huh? Who’s thirsty?" Wyatt Sherman had suddenly appeared behind Cecilia. He looked at her with concern and asked, "Cecilia, you’re thirsty? I’ll go get you some water. Or would you prefer a soda?"

Cecilia turned, feigning composure. "Just water is fine, thanks."

Wyatt nodded and turned to leave. He must have been working for a while, because a thin, glistening sheen of sweat covered his exposed skin.

A man glistening with sweat is the sexiest thing. Jane Sterling’s eyes followed him, and she suddenly slapped Cecilia’s arm, exclaiming, "You lucky girl! You really know how to pick them!"

The last one was Saul Thorne, a man who was, from every conceivable angle, perfect.

And now this second one, Wyatt Sherman, was no less impressive. As a loyal best friend, Jane Sterling sincerely prayed that he had another... ’well-hidden’ surprise waiting for Cecilia!

Cecilia rubbed her stinging shoulder and reminded Jane, "Didn’t you just get the numbers of three ’little brothers’? You’d better start thinking about time management. It’s one thing to be obvious when you like one guy, but with three, you’d better keep it under wraps. Or else things are going to blow up in your face."

"Besides, they’re all on the Lorcain U basketball team. Don’t you go and get the whole team disbanded all by yourself!"

"You’ve got a point. I should edit their contact names right now so I don’t get them mixed up later." As she said this, Jane Sterling actually pulled out her phone and walked off to the side.

By the time everything was packed up, the sun had nearly set. A quick look at the time showed it was already past seven o’clock.

Everyone started calling out to each other to get into the cars. Wyatt Sherman approached Cecilia and offered, "Let me drive for you."

Before Cecilia could answer, Thalassa Bowman’s hand landed on her shoulder, playing wingman for Wyatt. "Cecilia, give the man a chance to impress you."

Cecilia smiled and nodded. Just then, they heard Jane Sterling shout, "Is there any room in the other cars? I just need a ride to the city, I can grab a cab home from there."

It was obvious she was trying to leave Cecilia and Wyatt alone together.

Everyone got the hint. A girl ran over and pulled Jane into her car.

Seeing this, Thalassa Bowman grinned. "Alright then, we’ll head out first. You two follow behind us."

Wyatt nodded, feeling a small thrill of excitement.

Cecilia smiled at him. "Shall we?"

The two of them got into the car, and Wyatt suddenly felt nervous again.

He’d never driven a Cullinan before.

But he maintained a calm expression. After all, he was a pretty good driver.

"Just give me the address. I’ll pull up the navigation."

Cecilia said, "Hearthstone Villas."

As a Lorcain local, Wyatt had heard of Hearthstone Villas. Most villa communities were built in remote areas, but Hearthstone Villas was located in a prime spot in Lorcain—a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city’s most prosperous district. That made it one of the most expensive neighborhoods in all of Lorcain.

Wyatt subconsciously glanced at Cecilia. From his interactions with her, he’d gotten the sense that her family was well-off, but he’d never imagined she was *this* wealthy. They were in completely different social echelons.

The car began to move smoothly. Cecilia adjusted her seat, reclining slightly into a comfortable position.

"Tired?" Wyatt asked, wanting to start a conversation.

"Not tired. But it’s been a really long time since I’ve done anything like this."

She and her friends were always talking about going camping together, but it never got past the planning stage.

Thinking back on the unpleasant incident from earlier, Wyatt was still filled with guilt, but more than that, his heart ached for Cecilia.

’He was actually surprised. How could someone with Cecilia’s personality be a target for bullying?’

"About today..."

"I had a lot of fun today." Wyatt had barely started speaking before Cecilia cut him off, already knowing what he was thinking. "Don’t worry about what else happened. I know it wasn’t your fault."

As she spoke, she showed Wyatt a message on her phone. "That underclassman of yours—Cindy Underwood’s boyfriend—went to find my brother after he got back to campus. Looks like he was still holding onto some last shred of hope for Cindy, but that should be shattered by now."

Cecilia didn’t know if he would break up with Cindy Underwood, but at least Cindy had suffered another major setback because of her. Far from being angry, Cecilia actually found it quite satisfying.

Wyatt’s expression was cold. "He brought it on himself. He never should have helped his girlfriend use my name to harass you. I’ll be settling that score with him later."

Hearing this, Cecilia looked up at his profile as he drove. The cold, suppressed anger radiating from him told her that he was genuinely upset about this. He was truly furious.

Cecilia smiled and casually turned on the car stereo.

The car left Mount Lyra and merged onto the viaduct heading toward Downtown Kaelon. A fitting song began to play softly from the speakers.

*The viaduct is behind us now, so many intersections still to go.*

*This journey isn’t a winding road, we’ll be there in the blink of an eye.*

*Riding in your car, listening to your songs, we’re so happy...*

Cecilia closed her eyes, enveloped by a profound sense of peace, and before long, she had drifted off to sleep.

Wyatt glanced over at her serene, sleeping face, his eyes brimming with affection. He kept the car at a constant speed, driving even more smoothly than before.

Cecilia slept the entire way, only to slowly open her eyes the moment the car came to a complete stop.

"Are we here?" she asked, rubbing her drowsy eyes. She sat up a little straighter and realized the car was stopped at the entrance to her neighborhood.

The security guard at the gate had already opened it, but when he saw the car wasn’t moving, he walked over. "Miss Sterling, why aren’t you driving in? Do you need any help?"

"It’s fine. I just woke up. My friend is driving and doesn’t know the way around in here. We’re heading in now."

Cecilia then pointed through the gate. "Drive on in. I’ll give you directions."

Wyatt snapped out of the shock brought on by the community’s luxurious entrance, nodded, and started the car again.
