Chapter 485 - 481: How Can Someone Be This Stupid?

  • Next Chapter

Reggie Hale looked at everyone present, then at his out-of-control girlfriend. He was in a real predicament.

He slowly took out his phone and handed it to Cindy Underwood. Cindy obviously knew the password. She quickly unlocked it, found the photos Reggie had secretly taken, and picked out the clearest, most intimate one.

She raised her hand, and the photo on the phone zoomed in right in front of Wyatt Sherman.

"Wyatt Sherman, open your eyes wide and take a good look. Is the person in this photo Cecilia Sterling or not?" Cindy Underwood’s voice was filled with smugness again, as if she could already picture Cecilia being utterly humiliated on the spot.

As if that wasn’t enough, she started walking around the room with the phone, showing it clearly to everyone while narrating, "At noon on that same day, Cecilia Sterling was on a date with Wyatt Sherman, shopping at a streetwear store in the mall. But by evening, she was with this man. Look at how intimate they are. Do you still think they’re just friends?"

After her speech, she returned to stand before Cecilia Sterling and Wyatt Sherman, staring directly at Cecilia and demanding, "Why aren’t you saying anything? Don’t you think you owe Wyatt Sherman an explanation?"

Cecilia Sterling simply looked at Cindy Underwood as if she were a fool. ’How can someone be this stupid?’

Beside her, Wyatt Sherman slowly turned to look at Reggie Hale and asked expressionlessly, "Reggie, you insisted on inviting me here today just for this?"

Seeing that Wyatt Sherman was still completely unfazed, Reggie Hale grew anxious. "Wyatt, I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t meddle in your affairs, but I happened to run into her that night. After what I saw, I really couldn’t stand by and watch you be deceived, so I secretly took these photos, planning to tell you when the time was right."

"Heh." Wyatt Sherman laughed in exasperation. He was speechless. Reggie Hale’s words really did sound like he was trying to do him a favor, but the whole thing was just too absurd.

Even Jane Sterling wasn’t angry anymore. She stood beside Cecilia Sterling, looking like she was just waiting for the joke to play out.

"Wyatt, you... you can’t possibly look at these and still think there’s nothing wrong, can you? Look at these photos! She’s holding his arm the whole time. This clearly isn’t just an ordinary relationship." Seeing Wyatt Sherman completely unmoved, Reggie Hale snatched the phone back and scrolled through the other photos for him to see.

The surrounding onlookers held their breath. After all, they were all from Lorcain U, friends and classmates of Wyatt Sherman.

This gossip had come out of nowhere, and witnessing it firsthand was a little too intense.

The more fickle-minded among them were easily swayed. At first, they had scoffed at Cindy Underwood, seeing her as a bully, and then they’d felt sorry for Cecilia Sterling.

Now, because of these photos, they felt Cecilia Sterling was also at fault. The most pitiful one was Wyatt Sherman, who was being kept in the dark.

With one climax after another, this was way more exciting than a summer blockbuster.

But to everyone’s surprise, Wyatt Sherman impatiently pushed Reggie Hale’s phone away. Then, he dropped a bombshell, saying coldly, "You don’t need to show me this. Of course their relationship isn’t ordinary—because the guy in the photo is Cecilia Sterling’s younger brother!"

With that one sentence, the entire room fell silent.

Cindy Underwood’s eyes flew wide, and Reggie Hale was practically petrified on the spot.

The others, however, silently breathed a sigh of relief for Wyatt Sherman.

’Thank goodness, it wasn’t what we thought.’

No wonder Cecilia Sterling had been so calm from the very beginning, without a hint of panic.

"W-What?" Reggie Hale was completely dumbfounded. He stared at the two people in the photo on his phone, trying desperately to find any trace of a sibling resemblance on their faces.

But unfortunately, Cecilia Sterling resembled her mother while Ethan Sterling resembled his father. They really didn’t look alike. Aside from both being very attractive, you could say they had no similarities whatsoever.

’These two are brother and sister?’

"Impossible!" Cindy Underwood completely lost it. This was her strongest piece of evidence. How could they be brother and sister?

She stared blankly at Wyatt Sherman. "Wyatt, why bother making up an excuse like this to protect her? You’re the one being played!"

Wyatt Sherman sighed and called over to Todd. "Todd, come take a look at the person in this photo."

Hearing this, Todd looked puzzled but still played along, walking over and taking the phone from Reggie Hale’s hand.

Although he didn’t know the person in the photo, he had seen him before—more than once, in fact, always when he was with Wyatt Sherman.

"Huh?" he exclaimed, then said, "Isn’t this that junior from Lorcain U?"

Todd looked at Cecilia Sterling. "This is your brother?"

Cecilia Sterling smiled and nodded. "Yes, my biological brother."

"No wonder!" It dawned on Todd. He looked at Wyatt Sherman and said, "No wonder you’ve always been looking out for him at school. So he’s Cecilia Sterling’s brother."

Wyatt Sherman asked him, "Can you remember his name?"

"Ethan Sterling, right? His name is pretty easy to remember," Todd blurted out.

Ethan Sterling!

Cecilia Sterling!

’It all adds up!’

Wyatt Sherman then looked at the crowd and said, "Cecilia Sterling’s brother is a junior at our university, Lorcain U. If any of you don’t believe me, you can go back and ask around. He’s in Team Inferno, so it won’t be hard to find him."

"How could this be..." Reggie Hale was both ashamed and guilty, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into. ’What have I done?’

"S-Sorry, Wyatt, I..."

"You don’t need to apologize to me," Wyatt Sherman said seriously. "Rashly trying to frame a woman without knowing the full story... what you did is no different from slander. You should be apologizing to Cecilia Sterling."

Reggie Hale swallowed his pride, quickly turning to Cecilia Sterling and saying sincerely, "Cecilia Sterling, I’m sorry. I didn’t understand the situation. I apologize for what I did today."

Just as Cecilia Sterling was about to speak, Cindy Underwood suddenly had a meltdown, yanking Reggie Hale around to face her and roaring, "Why are you apologizing to her? I’m your girlfriend! You should be on my side!"

"Cindy, calm down! We wronged Cecilia Sterling, so of course we have to apologize!" Reggie Hale said, patiently trying to soothe her.

But Cindy Underwood’s composure had already shattered. Because her final, crucial move had failed, everything Cecilia Sterling had said earlier was now validated in everyone’s eyes.

She was like a clown now. In everyone’s eyes, she was a bully, a petty person who framed others.

She was petty and aggressive. People were looking at her like she was an emotionally unstable lunatic who had just played with fire and gotten burned.

"I did nothing wrong! I don’t need to apologize to anyone, especially not her!" Cindy Underwood shrieked, breaking down in tears as she glared viciously at Cecilia Sterling.

Cecilia Sterling just watched her with contempt, too lazy to waste another word on such an idiot.

Seeing this, the people around them all showed expressions of displeasure.

Meanwhile, her "good friend" Ingrid Hayes, feeling implicated and ashamed, quietly slipped away.

Seeing that the farce was over, Thalassa Bowman sighed softly and said to Reggie Hale, "Your girlfriend looks like she needs to calm down. You should take her home."
