Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 456 - 452: So, They’re a Couple Now?
Seraphina?
"Does anyone know her?" Owen Griffin asked the friends behind him.
They all shook their heads. The semester had just started; they barely knew all the girls in their own class, let alone girls from other ones.
"So you only know her name?" Owen Griffin asked Victor Tucker.
Victor Tucker nodded honestly and explained, "Ethan Sterling has only seen her two or three times. He doesn’t know what major or class she’s in, so I have no idea either."
Seeing that he didn’t seem to be lying, Owen Griffin didn’t press him. He gently patted his collar and said with a smile, "Alright, that’s good information. The camera is yours."
"Owen Griffin, what are you planning to do? You’re not going to hurt anyone, are you...?"
"Don’t you worry about that. Your job is to keep an eye on Ethan Sterling. If you have any more good news in the future, remember to tell me. I’ll make it worth your while."
Victor Tucker’s heart was a mix of apprehension and guilt, tinged with a faint thrill of excitement.
Because Owen Griffin was a man of his word—he had really given him a brand-new camera.
The dorm was empty. Victor Tucker tore open the packaging and eagerly started fiddling with the camera, following the instruction manual.
But after only a few minutes, Ethan Sterling and Wayne returned.
Victor Tucker’s bunk was right by the door. The moment they pushed it open, they saw the camera in his hands. He had no time to react, and just like that, he was caught.
"Whoa? Vince, where’d you get a camera?" Wayne didn’t think much of it, just walking over with a surprised look on his face.
His eyes swept over to the side and saw the packaging was still there, which shocked him even more. "It’s new?"
Ethan Sterling also walked over, looking just as bewildered. They all knew about Victor Tucker’s family situation; he didn’t have the spare cash to buy a camera.
Victor Tucker forced a smile and said casually, "I borrowed it."
"Borrowed?" Wayne subconsciously glanced at Ethan Sterling, then back at Victor Tucker. "Who’d you borrow it from? It’s brand new!"
"From a classmate." As if he had prepared the excuse long ago, Victor Tucker explained without batting an eye.
Ethan Sterling finally spoke up. "I have one. Why would you need to borrow from someone else? This one’s brand new. What if you bump or scratch it?"
Wayne nodded too. "Yeah, didn’t Ethan lend you his last time?"
"It’s fine. My classmate said I can use it however I want." Victor Tucker looked at Ethan Sterling, still feeling a pang of guilt, but said, "Your camera was a gift from your sister. I was afraid of breaking that one."
"That’s no big deal. A camera isn’t made of paper. It’s not that easy to break when it’s hanging around your neck."
Wayne muttered from the side, "I really don’t know what’s going on in that head of yours. You’d better be careful with a new one like this."
Victor Tucker gave a slightly awkward smile and didn’t say anything else.
Suddenly, something small was tossed at him. Victor Tucker caught it instinctively. Before he could get a good look, he heard Wayne say, "Sunscreen. Military training starts tomorrow. Ethan bought one for each of us. Sunburns really hurt, you know."
Victor Tucker looked at Ethan Sterling, his mouth moving as he mumbled, "Thanks."
Ethan Sterling smiled generously and just said, "Don’t mention it."
That evening, after being overcast for a long time, the sky finally began to rain.
On the dorm balcony, Cecilia Sterling and Blair were squeezed together, looking down below.
At the entrance to the women’s dorm, a guy was standing there holding an umbrella, a freshly bought milk tea, and butter rice cakes. A moment later, they saw Estelle run out of the building.
The guy’s face was hidden by the umbrella, but Cecilia Sterling and Blair were no strangers to him.
The handsome instructor from the Go-Kart Club.
However, the two of them knew next to nothing about this instructor, other than the fact that he was definitely something to look at. They knew nothing else about him.
"So they’re dating now, right?"
Blair muttered uncertainly.
Cecilia Sterling shook her head slightly, indicating she didn’t know. But Estelle was clearly not indifferent to the instructor. And now he had come to deliver things to her dorm in the rain. Even if they weren’t dating, they were probably close to it.
After all, girls are emotional creatures. A gesture like this was sure to move her.
"Tsk." Blair pursed her lips, unable to watch. "So mushy. What’s there to talk about in the rain?"
Cecilia Sterling couldn’t help but laugh. "They’re not hugging or kissing. Can’t they even exchange a few words?"
"If they were actually hugging and kissing, I wouldn’t say a thing. It’s this kind of stuff that’s so mushy." Blair said, shutting the window.
Cecilia Sterling craned her neck anxiously. "What are you doing? I wasn’t done watching!"
"Stop looking. I have something serious to talk to you about."
Blair pulled Cecilia Sterling back into the room, grabbed a chair, and sat down. Cecilia looked at her and blinked, confused. "What’s wrong?"
"Didn’t you say you were optimistic about Sunstone District? Well... I bought a place in Sunstone District!"
Cecilia Sterling was shocked. "Wow, you work fast. You already bought it?"
Blair nodded. "Yeah. The previous owners are immigrating, and the place is a large flat. They were in a hurry to sell, so I checked the price, and it was quite a bit lower than other units in the same complex. They wanted the full payment in cash, and since I happened to have the money on hand, I basically got a steal."
’A large flat in Sunstone District, at current prices, couldn’t be *that* expensive anyway.’
Cecilia Sterling nodded, expressing her sincere admiration for Blair’s decisive style. "That’s our Blair. You’ve got guts. The timid never get rich."
"So it really has potential, right?" Blair pressed.
This time, Cecilia Sterling didn’t joke around with her and gave a firm nod. "I’m sure of it. Because I’ve sunk a lot of money into Sunstone District myself."
’She hadn’t held back at all. Even though her monthly pension alone translated to an income of hundreds of millions, who could resist the urge to make money with money?’
"So should I invest a little more?" Cecilia’s words had whetted Blair’s appetite.
"You can certainly up the ante a bit, but always leave yourself a safety net."
’All investments carry risk; nothing is ever certain. It’s normal to increase your investment in a project you’re confident about, but you always have to leave yourself a buffer. Nothing is a one-hundred-percent guaranteed win.’
’It’s a matter of probability.’
Just as they were speaking, Estelle pushed the door open and came in, her pretty face flushed and shy. One look and you could tell her heart was pounding.
"Babes, time for milk tea!"
"He got some for us, too? This young instructor sure knows what he’s doing!" Cecilia Sterling teased, raising an eyebrow.
Estelle gave a shy smile and took out the milk teas for the other two to pick first. There were also the butter rice cakes that had been trending recently. Estelle had been talking about them for days, and she couldn’t believe the guy had actually bought them and brought them over.
"Estelle, are you two dating?" Blair asked bluntly as soon as she opened her mouth.
Cecilia Sterling took the cue and looked over. She saw Estelle’s bashful expression as she muttered softly, "I was originally planning to observe him a little longer, but he made a special trip from the club just to bring me milk tea and snacks, and in the rain, too... I think that earns him a lot of points."
Cecilia Sterling blinked. ’Charles Jennings has done this kind of thing for me countless times,’ she thought.
’But this guy does it once and our dear lady is moved to tears. Where’s the justice in that?’
