Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 438 - 434: This Is a Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity
As Megan Nash talked about herself, she kept stealing glances at Randall Jennings to gauge his reaction. She also subconsciously kept her answers short, afraid he wouldn’t be interested.
But to her surprise, Randall Jennings asked, "So what are your hobbies?"
"Er..." Megan Nash paused, her mouth slightly agape as she blinked, seemingly racking her brain for an answer. Finally, she just said, "Probably just reading magazines and watching movies. It gives me some design inspiration."
Then, she added tentatively, "That sounds pretty boring, doesn’t it?"
Randall Jennings raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You’re doing something you enjoy. Why would you think that’s boring?"
"I meant, you must think it’s boring, Mr. Jennings."
Randall Jennings shook his head gently. "Those are your hobbies. My opinion doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that they make you happy."
At his words, the way Megan Nash looked at Randall Jennings changed slightly.
When a man deliberately tries to exude what he thinks is charm, he just comes off as smarmy.
But when he exhibits his personal charisma naturally, he can instantly win people over.
This was especially true for a man who was already exceptional in every respect.
Meanwhile, Randall Jennings had also formed a basic impression of Megan Nash.
Honestly, he thought Miss Nash was quite nice.
Her reactions were all genuine—not affected or forced. She wasn’t like the others he’d met, who came over-prepared to cater to his tastes, claiming his hobbies as their own just to make him think they were kindred spirits.
But to Randall Jennings, that sort of thing was completely unnecessary.
’Everyone is an individual. Whether it’s your personality or your preferences, you shouldn’t have to force yourself to change for someone else. A person should never lose themselves.’
So, Megan Nash had left a very good first impression on Randall Jennings.
The atmosphere gradually grew more comfortable. As Megan Nash found herself increasingly drawn to Randall Jennings, her nervousness completely melted away, and she became more and more relaxed.
Just as the two were deep in conversation, Randall Jennings noticed that Jasmine Sterling and Monica Coleman seemed to have finished their meal and were getting ready to pay and leave.
Remembering how Ms. Sterling had paid his bill at Aetherium last time, Randall Jennings looked at Megan Nash and said softly, "Excuse me, Miss Nash. I’m going to say hello to some friends. I’ll be right back."
Megan Nash nodded and watched Randall Jennings rise. At six-foot-one, his frame was tall and lean, and his long legs carried him quickly in the other direction.
"Ms. Sterling, all finished?"
Randall Jennings’s sudden appearance made both Jasmine Sterling and Monica Coleman instinctively glance toward the table he had just left, their eyes meeting Megan Nash’s.
Megan Nash offered a smile, and Jasmine Sterling gave a slight nod in return, a silent greeting.
"We were just about to leave," Jasmine Sterling said. "How is the blind date going, Mr. Jennings?"
Randall Jennings nodded. "Let me get this. You paid my bill last time without a word, Ms. Sterling. I felt bad about that."
"Oh, you don’t have to be so formal. I was just trying to thank you, Mr. Jennings."
"Thank you? Aren’t you getting things backward? You saved my life, Ms. Sterling..."
"Please don’t bring that up again, Mr. Jennings. It was so long ago."
Seeing the two of them going back and forth so politely, Monica Coleman chimed in with a wry smile. "Director Jennings, don’t argue about it today. This meal is on me. You can wait for the next one."
Jasmine Sterling laughed at that. It was true, Monica had invited her out today.
"Oh?" An idea seemed to strike Monica Coleman. Before Randall Jennings could respond, she looked at him and proposed, "Director Jennings, if you really want to thank Jasmine, she recently started a high-end cleaning company. If you’d be willing to help promote it a bit, that would be a huge help!"
"Monica..." Jasmine Sterling said, quickly shaking her head.
"A cleaning company?" Randall Jennings asked in surprise. "You’ve started your own business, Ms. Sterling?"
Jasmine Sterling smiled bashfully. "Yes, I just wanted something to do."
"That’s wonderful! What’s it called? I’ll help you promote it," Randall Jennings said, already pulling out his phone.
Before Jasmine Sterling could answer, Monica Coleman jumped in. "It’s called Cleanscape. It even has an app. Jasmine’s company is legitimate and professional. All of our friends use her cleaning service."
Jasmine Sterling, a little flustered by the praise, quickly added, "It’s a very small company."
Randall Jennings smiled. "It’s just starting out. I’m sure it will grow bigger in the future."
"I hope you’re right, Mr. Jennings."
Monica Coleman turned to pay the bill, then she and Jasmine Sterling said their goodbyes to Randall Jennings and left.
Once they were outside the restaurant, Jasmine Sterling couldn’t help but say, "Monica, why did you have to bother Mr. Jennings? He already helped Cecilia once. I really don’t want to trouble him again."
"Jasmine, I can tell you’re new to business," Monica Coleman said, earnestly sharing her experience. "You can’t think of this as bothering him. For you, this is a golden opportunity. Think about it—how many people in all of Cathay get a chance like this? To have Director Jennings himself offer to promote their business?"
"The reach of his personal network is probably greater than all of ours combined. If he gives you his endorsement and puts in a good word, who wouldn’t give him face and check it out?"
"Your company’s orders will skyrocket—you’ll be swamped. That’s what happens when you know how to use your connections to seize an opportunity. In business, you have to put your interests first."
"If you feel like he’s done you a favor, you can just find an opportunity to thank him or help him out in the future. In the business world, people helping each other out is perfectly normal. The main thing is whether they’re willing to do it."
"And you saw how willing Chairman Jennings was—he was more enthusiastic about it than you, the actual owner."
Listening to Monica Coleman, Jasmine Sterling belatedly realized that she had a point.
Seeing that her words had sunk in, Monica Coleman gently patted Jasmine Sterling’s back. "Relax. He offered, it’s not like you asked him to. You need to be decisive enough to accept kindness when it’s offered. There’s always time to return the favor later. Right?"
"You have a point, Monica," Jasmine Sterling agreed with a smile.
Back in the restaurant, Megan Nash subconsciously watched the two women’s figures recede into the distance, only looking away when Randall Jennings returned to his seat.
Her expression was perfectly composed. Randall Jennings, looking a bit apologetic, explained, "Sorry to keep you waiting. They’re friends, and we got to talking."
"It’s no problem. I’ve finished eating as well," she said, looking at Randall Jennings with anticipation.
’Usually, if a blind date goes reasonably well, there’s always something afterward, like taking a walk or seeing a movie.’
Megan Nash thought anything would be fine, as long as the date continued.
But Randall Jennings just glanced at the time and said, "Shall I take you home, then?"
