Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 395 - 391: I Am Her Boyfriend
Cecilia Sterling was playing a dice game with Sarah Harris when someone tapped her on the shoulder from behind.
She turned instinctively and saw Jonah Goodman greeting her with a handsome smile. "Cecilia!"
The moment Quentin Perry’s other two friends saw Jonah suddenly approach their table, their expressions changed. They were about to get up and say something, but Cecilia’s reaction took them completely by surprise.
"Jonah Goodman?"
Cecilia cried out in pleasant surprise, her entire expression far more animated than when she had been facing Quentin just moments before. She stood up smoothly, looking Jonah up and down before speaking. "It’s been a long time!"
Ever since Jonah had gotten drunk and slept in the small room on her first floor, Cecilia hadn’t seen him again.
At the time, Jonah had been interested in pursuing her, but before he could make a move, Cecilia had clarified that things would never work between them, for Estelle’s sake.
Still, they’d had some history. They might not have been friends, but at the very least, she was much more familiar with him than with Quentin Perry.
"Yeah, it’s been a while. You’re as beautiful as ever." Jonah was also happy to see Cecilia again, and once his gaze landed on her, he found it impossible to look away.
She was dazzlingly beautiful, and the bar’s lights cast a mesmerizing glow upon her, adding to her allure. Jonah was so captivated that he didn’t even notice the hostile stares from the side; at this moment, his eyes were only for Cecilia.
Sarah, ever perceptive, poured them both a drink. Jonah accepted it. "Let’s have a drink first. Later, you should bring Estelle over to my table. It’s the same friends you’ve met before."
Cecilia nodded in agreement. To her, it didn’t matter who she hung out with, as long as Sarah was having a good time.
They clinked their glasses together, then tilted their heads back and drained their drinks.
Just as Jonah was about to put his glass down and leave, Quentin Perry suddenly burst through the noisy, crowded bar, grabbed Jonah’s shirt, and yanked him backward with force!
Caught completely off guard, Jonah stumbled back. Fortunately, the dense crowd behind him broke his fall, and people instinctively supported him, preventing him from hitting the floor.
But before he could regain his footing, Quentin’s fist was already flying toward his face. Jonah had no time to react and took the punch squarely, his body lurching violently to the side.
The sudden violence made the surrounding crowd scatter. He staggered a few steps and then fell to the ground.
Quentin Perry’s eyes were wide with fury as he pointed at Jonah and roared, "You just don’t fucking quit, do you? Coming straight to my table to poach my people? You really think I’m afraid of you?"
Estelle let out a terrified scream, then turned to Quentin. "Don’t hit him!"
She started to rush over to help Jonah up, but he had already scrambled to his feet. Only then did he turn and realize it was Quentin who had punched him.
"Quentin Perry? Are you fucking tired of living? You dare lay a hand on me!"
Rage surged through him. He randomly snatched a beer bottle and swung it.
Seeing this, Cecilia quickly pulled Estelle aside. When boys like them fought, they were reckless and could easily hurt someone. Sarah and another girl also quickly backed away.
Quentin’s friends managed to stop Jonah’s bottle before it connected. Undeterred, he grabbed a glass and hurled it at Quentin’s head without even blinking.
Luckily, Quentin ducked quickly. The glass smashed with a BANG into the LED screen behind the booth. The screen instantly short-circuited, CRACKLING with sparks.
The next second, a group of people were tangled together in a chaotic brawl.
Jonah was outnumbered and clearly at a disadvantage, but a moment later, several more people rushed in and joined the fray. Cecilia recognized them from a distance; they were all good friends of Jonah’s.
The spectacle sent the other patrons scattering in fear. Estelle was so worried Jonah would get the worst of it that she was stomping her feet in anxiety.
Sarah, not understanding the situation, came over to Cecilia and asked in a low voice, "Cecilia, why did they start fighting?"
Incidents like this in a bar, however, never lasted long. Security guards and the manager soon rushed over to break it up.
Everyone involved had sustained injuries of varying degrees. Quentin’s forehead was even bleeding steadily.
But he was still defiant, yelling at Jonah, "From now on, if you see me in Lorcain, you better walk the other way! Or else I’ll beat you every time I see you!"
Jonah’s cheek was bruised from the punch. He shot back, not to be outdone, "Who the hell are you? Just looking at you is bad luck, you fucking dumbass!"
Cecilia was a little speechless. ’Young people these days are so impulsive. They just start fighting at the drop of a hat?’
’Good thing I was quick enough to pull Estelle back, or she might have gotten hurt in the chaos.’
「Half an hour later, at the Sunward Road Police Station.」
It was already close to midnight, and the police station was unusually lively.
Quentin’s group and Jonah’s group sat on opposite sides, and even though they didn’t dare to continue the fight in the station, the looks they exchanged were like daggers, each wishing they could stab the other.
Cecilia, Estelle Goodman, and Sarah Harris sat on another side.
Before long, the officer on duty walked in from outside. His cold gaze swept over everyone in the room, finally pausing on Quentin’s face. "His head is cracked open. Why didn’t you send him to the hospital?"
A junior officer beside him replied helplessly, "He refuses to go. He said he’ll go after this is all handled."
"What nonsense is this?!" the duty officer said, picking up the registration forms. He saw that they were all young men under twenty-five, and every one of them had cuts and bruises.
It was hardly surprising to see a brawl case like this at the station at this hour. On busy nights, there could be several.
With practiced ease, the duty officer asked, "Why were you fighting?"
The room was silent.
"Who started it?"
Jonah raised his hand and pointed at Quentin. "He did! It was four of them against just me at first!"
The duty officer looked at Quentin and asked again, "Why did you hit him?"
Quentin just glared viciously at Jonah without answering. Seeing this, the duty officer shouted sharply, "I’m asking you a question! Why did you start the fight!"
Quentin flinched, then instinctively glanced in Cecilia’s direction.
Cecilia was leaning against a chair by the door with her arms crossed, her expression unreadable.
When Jonah saw Quentin look at Cecilia, he followed his gaze and finally understood why he’d been attacked.
’So, it’s all because I had a drink with Cecilia? Quentin thought I was trying to steal his girl?’
At that thought, Jonah suddenly let out a laugh. ’Cecilia wouldn’t even give me the time of day. How could she possibly be interested in a moron like Quentin?’
The duty officer followed their gazes and turned his head, his eyes resting on Cecilia for a couple of seconds.
The police officer’s stare made Sarah a little scared. A wave of guilt washed over her. ’If I hadn’t insisted on coming out to have fun, Cecilia wouldn’t have gotten into this mess. She won’t get dragged into this, will she?’
"Which one of you is her boyfriend?" the duty officer asked again.
The two men looked at each other, but neither said a word.
"Tsk!" The duty officer’s brow furrowed in annoyance. "What is wrong with you? When I ask a question, answer it. Or do you not want to leave?"
"Who is her boyfriend!"
"I am!"
Another voice suddenly cut in from the doorway. Everyone looked over.
The duty officer was startled when he saw the newcomer. "Captain Thorne?"
Saul Thorne nodded, walked over to Cecilia’s side in two steps, and repeated to the duty officer, "I’m her boyfriend!"
