Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 387 - 383: Can I Hand Them Over to You?
The next morning, at the Perry residence.
Monica Coleman came downstairs after waking up and froze when she saw her son sitting at the dining table.
She subconsciously glanced at the clock on the wall. After confirming it was only seven-thirty in the morning, she turned back to her son, her brows furrowing. "Did you just get back?"
Quentin Perry chuckled. "Mom, I came home and went to bed before two yesterday!"
"Well, that’s a first!"
Monica Coleman said as she walked over to the dining table and sat down, eyeing her son with suspicion.
She knew her own son, after all. He was even more of a handful than her daughter.
Her daughter was, at worst, childish, rebellious, willful, and spoiled.
But this son of hers had truly managed to embody every single bad habit of a rich heir.
When he went out to party at night, he never came back, only returning the next day after waking up in a hotel.
Endless nights of debauchery, spending money like water... and there were other things she was well aware of. Every so often, she had to remind her son to use protection and not catch some disease he shouldn’t.
Coming home at two in the morning to sleep?
She couldn’t even remember the last time that had happened.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Am I not allowed to come home in the middle of the night?"
"You’re in trouble again, aren’t you?" Monica Coleman guessed, based on her son’s personality and his unusual behavior today. "Got into another fight?"
As she spoke, she leaned to the side to check for any signs of injury on him.
"No, no," Quentin Perry quickly denied, then attentively peeled an egg for his mother. "Mom, who were the guests who came over yesterday? I know Mrs. Goodman, but I don’t recognize the other one. A new friend?"
He was her son, after all.
The moment he dropped his pants, Monica Coleman knew what shape of shit he was about to take.
She immediately shot him an annoyed glare and warned, "Don’t you go asking around. Cecilia is still in college, and she’s a very capable young woman, not like you. Don’t even think about corrupting her."
"How could you call it corrupting her?" Quentin Perry sat up straight. "Hey, I’m your son! Do you really think that little of me?"
Monica Coleman let out a cold laugh.
Quentin Perry immediately put on a wounded expression. "Mom, at the very least, I’m good-looking, right?"
"Cecilia isn’t that kind of shallow person. That face of yours is only good for fooling naive little girls."
Cecilia’s inner voice: ’Auntie, when it comes to men, I actually am pretty shallow!’
"Isn’t she a little girl? She’s several years younger than me!" Quentin Perry said, looking unconvinced.
Monica Coleman stared at her son for a moment before speaking, word by word. "She is several years younger than you, but she’s already earned a net worth of over ten thousand on her own merits. Can you say the same?"
"You’re kidding. I don’t believe it," Quentin Perry said with a disdainful smirk. "She hasn’t even graduated from college yet. How could she..."
He trailed off mid-sentence, choked by his mother’s exceedingly serious expression. She wasn’t joking at all.
"Is... is it true?" Quentin was stunned.
Monica Coleman gave him a look that said she couldn’t be bothered to waste her breath on him and shook her head. "Just eat your breakfast. Seeing you at the table this early in the morning, I thought I’d seen a ghost. Turns out you’re the one with ghosts in your heart."
"I invited Cecilia over yesterday to introduce her to your sister, but it backfired. I get it now. Cecilia is just not on the same level as you two. It’s a lost cause!"
"Mom, that’s a bit biased," Quentin’s focus shifted again. "Why are you only thinking about introducing new friends to my sister? I can be friends with her first. I’m at least better at making friends than my sister, right?"
"You?" Monica Coleman looked at her son with disgust and snorted. "You’re more suited to be a club promoter!"
Quentin Perry: "..."
It was Monday, the day Cecilia Sterling and Wesley Yates had arranged to have a meal.
Aetherium.
Cecilia pushed open the door to the private room, the smile on her face faltering as she saw the people inside.
Mr. Young wasn’t there today. She had assumed it would just be her and her brother, and she’d been planning to use the relatively private setting to ask about the doubts and suspicions weighing on her mind.
But inside the private room, besides Wesley Yates, there was a beautiful young woman and several other faces she didn’t recognize at all.
Duane was there, too.
"Cecilia’s here!"
Wesley Yates was the first to greet her, pulling Cecilia back to her senses. "Brother."
"Come, let me make an introduction." A rare smile appeared on Wesley Yates’s face. As he spoke, the woman sitting next to him stood up smoothly. Wesley formally introduced her, "Zelda Warner, my wife."
"Hello, Cecilia. I’ve heard your brother mention you so often. It’s wonderful to finally meet you in person. You’re so beautiful." The moment Zelda Warner spoke, her voice proved to be as gentle and sweet as her appearance, incredibly pleasant to the ear.
A shocked expression appeared on Cecilia’s face, but she quickly extended a hand to greet her. "Oh, so you’re my sister-in-law! It’s a pleasure to meet you!"
The reason for her surprised reaction was that she had never imagined her brother would suddenly introduce his wife to her in a setting like this.
He rarely even mentioned his wife. At least, as far as Cecilia could remember, her brother had only ever said that he was married, without ever going into any details about his wife.
She understood that due to her brother’s special status, he had to protect his family’s privacy to the greatest extent possible to keep them safe, minimizing their contact with the outside world, especially with people in his circle.
But today, he had taken the initiative to introduce her, which was why she was so surprised.
"Brother, you should have told me my sister-in-law was coming today," Cecilia chided gently once she had recovered.
If she had known, she definitely would have prepared a gift.
Wesley Yates could easily guess what was on Cecilia’s mind and said directly, "Don’t waste your money on that. Your sister-in-law doesn’t lack for anything."
Zelda Warner smiled demurely. Her eyes were beautiful, and the loving gaze she directed at Wesley Yates was impossible to conceal.
Cecilia poured a glass of wine. She was happy her brother had introduced his wife to her today, as it showed his complete trust.
However, thinking of the matters that worried her, she knew it would be inappropriate to ask about them in front of her sister-in-law.
But if she didn’t ask soon, she would remain deeply worried, especially after personally witnessing someone being taken away at the entrance of The Loft that day.
However, before she could even figure out what to talk about during the meal, Zelda Warner suddenly stood up to leave. "Cecilia, I just came to meet you today. Your brother said he has something to discuss with you, so I won’t disturb you. I’ll be heading back first."
Cecilia was taken aback, then quickly said, "Sister-in-law, you’re leaving already? We haven’t even eaten yet!"
"The housekeeper has already prepared my meal at home. You two go ahead and eat."
With that, she turned to Duane, who was standing to the side, and said, "Duane, could you take me home?"
"Of course," Duane nodded. "Then, Big Brother, Cecilia, I’ll escort Sister-in-law home."
Wesley Yates just nodded and said, "Drive safely." Seeing that her brother didn’t stop them, Cecilia also saw them off. "In that case, sister-in-law, let’s meet up again when we have the chance?"
"Okay. Don’t see me out. You two talk."
Once Zelda Warner had left, the atmosphere in the room abruptly shifted. The fact that the men her brother brought today were all complete strangers to her made her sit back down with a sense of bewilderment.
Then she saw Wesley Yates suddenly produce a thick stack of documents and place them on the table.
Cecilia blinked. "Brother?"
Wesley Yates looked at her and said slowly, "These are some of my private assets in Lorcain. They aren’t part of the group’s holdings, and most are registered under your sister-in-law’s name. They include twenty-seven bars, four entertainment clubs, and some other properties."
Wesley Yates paused for a breath here before looking at Cecilia again and asking, "Cecilia, can I entrust them to you for the time being?"
