Chapter 354 - 352: You’re in Breach of Contract

The moment Lily Sterling got back to the waiting room, an ecstatic Hannah Warner rushed over to her.

"Oh my god, Lily, I just saw Heather Keaton! Heather Keaton! I actually saw her in person!"

Hannah Warner was so excited her eyes welled up. Heather Keaton was her idol, and she had imagined countless times meeting her on a film set or after she herself became famous.

She never expected to meet her so unexpectedly, completely by chance!

"I ran into her too. She happened to have something to discuss with Connie. I’ll help you get an autograph next time I get the chance."

"Really?" Hannah Warner’s eyes widened, filled with sheer delight. The gloom from her string of failed auditions was instantly swept away; it was as if Heather Keaton was a ray of light that had shone into her heart.

Seeing Lily Sterling nod, Hannah Warner exclaimed dramatically, "Lily, from now on, you’re my goddess! I have to treat my goddess to a meal today. If you hadn’t brought me here, I never would have seen her. I’m so happy today!"

The two of them were talking as they left the waiting room, and just as they reached the elevators, they ran into Jessica Reynolds.

Jessica Reynolds was also a little surprised to see Lily Sterling, then a smile spread across her face. "Lily, long time no see. Have you wrapped up filming?"

Lily Sterling nodded politely and greeted her, "Jessica."

Jessica’s gaze fell on the thick script in Lily’s hands, and she couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. "Oh, Connie gave you a new script already? You’re landing roles at an incredible pace. Don’t you ever take a break?"

Lily Sterling explained softly, "Connie just wanted me to take a look. Nothing’s been decided yet."

She was just telling the truth, but to Jessica Reynolds’s ears, it sounded like she was showing off.

A soft scoff escaped Jessica’s nose, and her tone was dripping with insinuation. "So she’s letting you pick and choose, is she? There certainly are a lot of perks to working under Connie. I’ve been in this industry for so many years and I’ve never seen a newcomer have it as easy as you."

She pursed her lips and added, "But then again, you have what it takes. If Connie could make a star out of Heather Keaton, she can definitely make one out of Lily Sterling. Good luck!"

With that, Jessica Reynolds turned, rolled her eyes, and stepped into the elevator on her high heels.

Standing to the side, Hannah Warner’s brows furrowed in anger. She said indignantly, "Why is that Jessica Reynolds so passive-aggressive? I thought she was only a villainess for her roles. I didn’t expect her to be so obnoxious in real life."

Lily Sterling looked at her and gave a helpless smile. ’She’s right, just like Jessica said, my career path has been too smooth. I can totally understand why some people would feel it’s unfair.’

In the same building as Locke Entertainment, at the offices of Wanderlust Entertainment, Cecilia Sterling and Estelle accompanied Blair to the front desk.

The three of them waited for a short while in the reception area before a young man wearing a company ID badge ran out to greet them.

"You must be Blair, right? I’m Chuck Lawson from the Operations Department. I’ve been your point of contact."

As Chuck Lawson spoke, he extended a hand, his eyes subconsciously raking over Blair from head to toe. "You’re even prettier in person than you are on your streams."

As he spoke, his gaze was involuntarily drawn to Cecilia Sterling standing beside her. Cecilia was dressed simply today in a white shirt and light-colored jeans, her hair tied back in a ponytail and her face completely free of makeup. Despite this casual appearance, she was the spitting image of the pure, girl-next-door type that so many men dreamed of.

Chuck Lawson was momentarily dazed. "And this is..."

His gaze was blatant. Cecilia Sterling shot Blair a look of disgust, and Blair replied irritably, "My friend. She came with me."

Chuck Lawson kept staring at Cecilia Sterling as he replied, "She’s gorgeous. Have you considered becoming a streamer? With looks like yours, if you joined the beauty category, people would be showering you with gifts just for sitting there!"

Then, not forgetting Estelle on the other side, he gave her a similarly blatant once-over. "This lady is also very beautiful!"

Normally, neither Cecilia Sterling nor Estelle would have responded kindly.

But they were here for Blair today, and she was still under contract. So Cecilia Sterling just said coolly, "We’re here about Blair’s business. Please sort out her issues first."

Meanwhile, Estelle’s eyes had practically rolled into the back of her head.

Only then did the man snap out of it and turn back to Blair. "Right, right. It’s about getting you a team, isn’t it?"

Blair nodded. "When I first signed with Wanderlust, a big part of the reason was the clause promising a professional team. But it’s been almost a month since I signed, and you haven’t assigned a single person to me. That’s unacceptable, wouldn’t you say?"

"Let’s go inside and sit down to talk, shall we? There are too many people coming and going out here."

The three followed Chuck Lawson into the company. Wanderlust Entertainment’s office was huge. Just a glance at the outermost work area revealed a sea of people.

The environment was also extremely noisy; colleagues basically had to stand up and shout at each other to be heard.

Familiar influencers could be seen milling about, as their live streaming center was located upstairs. Many of the company’s contracted streamers broadcasted from small rooms in that streaming center.

They walked to a small meeting room further inside. As soon as the door closed, the noise from outside was shut out. However, just as they were entering, they were spotted by Cece Desire, who was about to leave.

"That girl Chuck Lawson just brought in, isn’t she the one who embarrassed me at the reception the other day?"

Her assistant, standing beside her, had seen them too. "Yes, that’s her. I recognized her immediately. But she just signed with the company, she can’t stir up any trouble."

Word of what happened at the reception had already spread. After all, with so many people present, it was inevitable that some would want to laugh at her expense.

That’s why she harbored a deep resentment over the incident and toward Blair herself. She had no intention of letting the humiliation she suffered that day slide.

"Go ask Chuck Lawson. Find out what she’s here for."

The assistant was about to go when Cece Desire stopped her. "And that other girl with her. I saw Gideon acting like he knew her well that day. Find out who she is, too."

Inside the meeting room, Chuck Lawson first poured each of them a glass of water with fawning attentiveness, then sat down to the side. His eyes couldn’t help but roam over the women, lingering especially long on Cecilia Sterling.

Cecilia Sterling could feel his stare. Seeing that his attention was constantly fixed on her, she decided to speak up directly on Blair’s behalf. "According to the contract, your company promised to assemble a full team within one week of the signing date. This includes one operations manager, one video editor, one content planner, and one streaming assistant."

"But a month has passed, and besides taking half of Blair’s streaming income, your progress in fulfilling the contractual obligations is practically zero. We’ve consulted a lawyer, and you are in breach of contract!"
