Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 343 - 341: The Event and Its Development Were Astonishing
His mother had sent him to Lorcain early so he could study in peace for his last six months of school, free from the Fultons’ interference. His sister had also gone to great lengths to arrange his schooling. From the bottom of his heart, Ethan Sterling didn’t want to disappoint his mother and sister.
Besides, ever since he’d learned what the Fultons had done to his mother back then, he was even more unwilling to have any further contact with them.
He had even developed a sense of resistance and disgust toward the Fulton family.
Ethan’s reaction caught Victor Fulton off guard for a moment. Back in Veridia, the family elders had all secretly visited Ethan at school. Although he hadn’t grown up in the Fulton household, blood was thicker than water, and Ethan had always been very obedient and happy to see them.
’So why is he avoiding me like the plague this time?’
"Ethan, your Second Uncle came all the way from Veridia just to see you. Look at you, acting as if I’m here to hurt you!"
Victor was a little angry, but he didn’t make his words too harsh. Instead, he began to plead patiently, "You transferred to Lorcain without a word. Do you have any idea how hard your First Uncle, your aunt, and I have been looking for you? We asked your mom, we asked your other aunt, but none of them would say anything. When your grandparents found out, they were worried sick..."
"Second Uncle, stop." Ethan didn’t want to hear it and cut him off directly. "I’ve only met my grandparents twice in my entire life. They aren’t short on grandsons; it makes no difference to them whether I’m around or not. But my mom only has me, her only son. I can’t bear to see her sad or hurt, so you all should just stop looking for me from now on."
"Did your mother say something to you?" Victor Fulton’s brow furrowed in anger. "You can’t listen to your mother’s nonsense! She’s deliberately trying to drive a wedge between you and us, you know..."
In his desperation, Victor had spoken ill of Ethan’s mother right to his face without thinking. Hearing this, Ethan’s expression immediately turned cold.
"Second Uncle!" he shouted angrily, issuing a stern warning. "I call you Second Uncle out of respect for an elder. But if you dare say another bad word about my mom, I won’t ever call you that again!"
His face was flushed red. He was clearly furious.
Victor was speechless for a moment. Then, remembering why he had painstakingly traveled all this way to Lorcain, he had no choice but to nod and admit fault. "Okay, okay, Second Uncle was wrong. I shouldn’t have said that about your mother. But look, I came all this way. You can at least have dinner with me, right? I even have some good news to tell you!"
As he spoke, he reached out to grab Ethan again.
This time he used more force and was prepared, so Ethan couldn’t shake him off even after trying twice.
"What’s with you, kid? It’s not like I’m going to sell you, is it? How did you come to Lorcain and end up disowning your own Second Uncle?"
"If you have something to say, just say it here. If I’m late, my mom will worry!"
"You can’t even have dinner with your Second Uncle? I’ve been squatting outside the school gate for six or seven hours! Don’t you feel bad for me?"
Jameson Stone stood to the side, watching the uncle and nephew pull back and forth. He was at a loss. ’Should I help or not?’
The main issue was that the man was Ethan’s Second Uncle. If it had been anyone else, he would have jumped in long ago.
But just then, a sharp shout came from behind Ethan. "Hey! What do you think you’re doing?"
Victor Fulton froze at the sound. Ethan and Jameson also turned to look, and both were startled.
It was Golden Blade!
Two other guys were with him.
The injuries the three had sustained from their last beating by Kai didn’t look fully healed, but they still wore fierce expressions as they came to a stop in front of Victor.
Golden Blade’s eyes darkened as he looked at the hand Victor had clamped on Ethan. Without a word, he grabbed Victor’s hand and pried it off.
Victor finally snapped out of it and glared at Golden Blade. "Who are you people?"
Golden Blade jutted out his neck, giving Victor a sidelong glance with the air of a street punk, and retorted, "I should be asking who you are. A human trafficker? Can’t you see he doesn’t want to go with you?"
Jameson was stunned. Ethan was a little dazed, too.
’Is Golden Blade... helping me out?’
"Wh-What human trafficker?" Victor’s eyes went wide with anger. He never in a million years imagined a few punks would jump out of nowhere. "I’m his Second Uncle! His guardian!"
Second Uncle?
Golden Blade’s expression froze. He blinked, feeling a pang of guilt. ’Oh, crap,’ he thought. ’Did I just make things worse again?’
The two guys behind him also exchanged a surprised glance.
The three had just been passing by when they recognized Ethan and saw that he seemed to be in some trouble. Thinking about how they had made things so difficult for Kai last time, they couldn’t just turn a blind eye now. That’s why they had jumped in, wanting to help Ethan out.
’Either way, if Ethan’s sister finds out about this, maybe she’ll think a little better of Kai, right?’
Just as Golden Blade and his friends thought they’d misunderstood and made things worse, Ethan snapped out of his daze and secretly tugged on Golden Blade’s shirt, whispering, "I don’t want to go with him!"
Those few words instantly ignited Golden Blade’s protective instincts.
With Ethan’s confirmation, they were now determined to see him get away safely.
Golden Blade puffed out his chest, looking completely confident. "I don’t care who you are. This is a society of laws. You can’t just force someone to do something!"
Victor was stunned. ’What’s this got to do with you?’ he wanted to scream.
He was the Second Uncle! His actual, blood-related Second Uncle!
But even though Golden Blade and his two friends looked to be just barely out of their teens, the three of them standing together had an intimidating presence. Victor didn’t dare to get tough with them.
He didn’t dare call the police either, because if things blew up, Jasmine Sterling would definitely find out, and he didn’t want that.
"Ethan, are you really going to treat your Second Uncle like this?"
Victor’s gaze went past Golden Blade to Ethan standing behind him.
But before Ethan could answer, Golden Blade sidestepped to block him from view, then said without turning his head, "You guys go. I’d like to see him try and follow."
"Thanks!"
Ethan quickly said his thanks, then reached out and pulled the still-dazed Jameson Stone. "Let’s go!"
The two of them pushed their bikes onto the road. After one last glance back at the silhouettes of Golden Blade and his friends, they hopped on and quickly rode away.
Victor Fulton watched them ride away, sighing with a look of pure frustration.
Golden Blade and his crew didn’t give him any more trouble. Once Ethan was out of sight, the three of them acted as if nothing had happened and walked off together.
"Ethan, what was all that just now?"
On the road, it took Jameson a long moment to recover. He asked Ethan with a horrified look on his face.
"Are you talking about my Second Uncle, or Golden Blade and his guys?"
"All of it! The whole thing, from how it started to how it ended, was insane!"
He couldn’t believe Ethan had a real uncle show up at the school gate to corner him, and he certainly couldn’t believe the situation was resolved thanks to the sudden appearance and help of Golden Blade.
The injuries from the beating Golden Blade took from Kai were still visible on his face!
