Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 326 - 324: The Most Extreme Revenge Within Her Abilities
Cecilia Sterling readily picked up the contract on the table. Looking at Eugene Jacobs, she raised an eyebrow and asked, "Did you bring a pen, Mr. Jacobs?"
At her words, Eugene Jacobs frantically patted his pockets. "My apologies, Miss Sterling. I left in a hurry and forgot to bring one. I’ll go borrow one!"
With that, he got up and walked toward the café’s counter.
Sitting at another table, Blair and Estelle quickly turned their heads away. Estelle asked curiously, "Didn’t Cecilia say she was going to make Eugene Jacobs rot in prison? Why does it look like they’re having a pleasant chat?"
"She’s been planning this for so long and has messed with him so many times. She definitely has a complete plan in mind," Blair said softly, taking a slow sip of her coffee. "Don’t be anxious. Just wait."
Eugene Jacobs went to the counter to borrow a pen from a barista. Although the barista lent him the pen, their eyes remained fixed on him.
After Eugene Jacobs walked away with the pen, the barista quickly pulled a coworker aside and whispered, "Hey, hey, isn’t that guy the one from the internet today?"
"Which guy?"
"The one the firefighters rescued from that adult hotel! Weren’t you the one who shared the video with me?"
"Huh? Was that really him? I didn’t get a good look..."
Meanwhile, Eugene Jacobs could no longer be bothered with anyone’s stares. He was just desperate to see Cecilia Sterling sign her name on the contract.
"Miss Sterling, here’s the pen." Eugene Jacobs uncapped the pen and handed it to Cecilia Sterling with both hands.
Cecilia Sterling accepted it with a smile. She flipped the contract to the final signature page and, under Eugene Jacobs’s expectant gaze, gracefully put pen to paper and signed her surname.
Eugene Jacobs’s eyes lit up, his mind flooded with excitement. All Cecilia had to do was sign her given name, and the deal would be done!
And yet...
Cecilia Sterling suddenly froze. She slowly lifted her head to look toward the café’s entrance, a flicker of confusion crossing her face.
Seeing this, Eugene Jacobs’s expression faltered. He turned his head to look, equally baffled, only to see two uniformed police officers enter the café and walk straight toward their table.
Watching from a distance, Estelle couldn’t help but stomp her foot in excitement. "They’re here! They’re here! The police are here!"
Eugene Jacobs’s heart lurched. ’Did the police find Daniels?’ he wondered. ’Are they here for me again?’
’But wasn’t that already handled? Didn’t the police confirm I wasn’t kidnapped?’
’But their timing couldn’t be worse, showing up at such a critical moment.’
Just his luck. The two officers did indeed stop right beside their table, their gazes fixed squarely on Eugene Jacobs.
Cecilia Sterling furrowed her brow, feigning confusion. "Mr. Jacobs? What’s happening?"
Eugene Jacobs looked frantic, but before he could utter an explanation, the officer’s next words made the color drain from his face. "Mr. Eugene Jacobs, we’ve received a report. You are a suspect in a case involving multiple charges, including the rape of a minor, surreptitious filming, and the distribution of obscene materials. Please come with us to the station for questioning."
As if struck by lightning, Eugene Jacobs sat frozen in his seat, utterly dumbfounded.
Across from him, Cecilia Sterling covered her mouth in feigned horror, quickly dropping the pen and contract onto the table. "Mr. Jacobs, you... I can’t believe you’re that kind of person!"
Eugene Jacobs snapped out of it and began to protest, "Officers, you must have made a mistake! This is complete nonsense!"
"We’ll find out if there’s been a mistake once we investigate. Now, please get up and cooperate!"
The officer then produced an arrest warrant stamped with an official seal. The issuance of an arrest warrant meant the police already had sufficient evidence to prove the alleged crimes were real.
The moment he saw the warrant, Eugene Jacobs froze, completely petrified. His normally sharp mind seemed to have crashed, utterly unable to function.
The scene had already drawn stares from everyone in the café. Many patrons were even pulling out their phones to record.
"Mr. Jacobs, I was willing to overlook the last incident as just a messy personal life. Ultimately, that was your own business, and I didn’t want to interfere. But this is different. I will not cooperate with a criminal. I think you’d better go with the police and sort out your affairs."
Cecilia Sterling said, looking at Eugene Jacobs with an expression of disappointment.
The contract already had half of Cecilia’s signature. For it all to fall apart at the final moment—how could Eugene Jacobs possibly accept that?
"Miss Sterling, it’s really a misunderstanding! Just sign the contract first, and I’ll explain everything when I get back, okay?" In his desperation, Eugene Jacobs was grasping at straws, starting to ramble incoherently. All he wanted was for Cecilia Sterling to complete her signature.
Cecilia Sterling looked at him, aghast. "Are you kidding me, Mr. Jacobs?"
The police were also losing their patience. "Eugene Jacobs," one of them warned, "if you refuse to cooperate, we will be forced to use coercive measures."
As he spoke, he reached into his pocket, and a "limited edition" pair of silver bracelets appeared in his hand.
Seeing this, Cecilia Sterling raised an eyebrow. ’Aren’t those Eugene Jacobs’s favorite?’ she thought.
But at the sight of the handcuffs in the officer’s hand, Eugene Jacobs’s heart was filled with nothing but anxiety and fear.
He stood up slowly, as if still clinging to a sliver of hope. Even as he was being led away, he didn’t forget to say to Cecilia, "Miss Sterling, I’ll contact you after I sort this out."
Cecilia Sterling barely managed to stop herself from rolling her eyes at him.
’No wonder Walter Lane values him so highly,’ she thought. ’What a dedicated dog. He’s about to rot in prison, and he’s still thinking about finishing the job Walter Lane gave him.’
As she watched the two officers escort Eugene Jacobs into a police car, Cecilia Sterling let out a soft sigh.
Once he was gone, there was basically no chance of him coming back out. She had spent so much effort and money for the sole purpose of bringing about Eugene Jacobs’s utter ruin. Now that it was all a foregone conclusion, Cecilia Sterling felt no sense of satisfaction.
Even though Eugene Jacobs had received her vengeance—a retribution that spanned a lifetime—it could not erase the humiliation and injustice she had suffered in her past life.
And her hatred for him had not lessened one bit.
"Cecilia, is it over?"
Estelle and Blair walked over, just in time to see the police car disappear over the horizon.
Cecilia Sterling nodded lightly. Eugene Jacobs’s part in this was over. He would be prosecuted on multiple charges. Everyone would despise and revile him for his vile deeds, making him a pariah. He would lose his job, all social standing, and his family, entering prison utterly alone.
This was the most extreme revenge she could enact with the power she currently possessed.
"Let’s go. The law will handle the rest."
A smile touched Cecilia Sterling’s lips. In any case, she was satisfied with the result. "Weren’t we going to get our nails done? After that, I’m treating you guys to a feast!"
"A victory feast? You’re really treating us?"
"Of course. Let’s invite the man of the hour, Fabian Griffin. His contribution this time was indispensable. And let’s call Jane, too."
"But I have to stream this afternoon..."
"Oh, come on. You’ve streamed enough hours. Besides, your number one supporter just got arrested..."
