Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 299 - 297: I Won’t Pursue It for Your Sakes
Cecilia Sterling looked at Kai Sherman. She vaguely remembered him; he had been part of the group when she went to Starwood Film City.
Seeing this, Duane also chimed in. "Cecilia, these kids didn’t know it was your brother’s bike beforehand. And you see Kai has already taught them a lesson. Please, give them a chance."
Hearing this, Cecilia glanced at the three thugs, whose faces were beaten to a pulp. Honestly, it was a gruesome sight.
Although she knew Kai Sherman was putting on a show for her, the fact that he’d been so ruthless was enough to extinguish whatever anger she felt.
"They’re already in this state. What more can I say?" Cecilia said softly. "A few more hits and they might actually die. It’s just a bicycle. It’s not worth all this."
They were all Jeb’s men. Their fear of her stemmed mostly from her connection to her brother, and Cecilia didn’t want to use her brother’s clout to intimidate his subordinates.
Besides, these punks had gotten the punishment they deserved. A beating like this would ensure they learned their lesson.
Hearing Cecilia’s words, Duane quickly smiled. He turned to the still-dazed Kai Sherman and gave him a light smack. "What are you spacing out for? Cecilia isn’t holding it against you. Hurry up and thank her."
Kai Sherman snapped out of it and quickly bowed his head, thanking her sincerely. "Thank you, Cecilia!"
"Alright, let’s just consider this matter over."
Cecilia said, gently stroking her brother’s head, "Let’s go home?"
Ethan Sterling, who had been terrified all evening, finally broke into a smile. He looked at his sister and nodded emphatically.
He never dreamed his sister had this kind of power. These guys were big shots that nobody else dared to provoke, yet in front of his sister, they had to bow and scrape, not even daring to raise their voices.
"Cecilia!"
Kai Sherman suddenly called out to stop her, a hesitant look on his face.
Cecilia raised an eyebrow, looking at him quizzically.
Duane, who was standing to the side, seemed to notice Kai’s hesitation and spoke up for him. "Cecilia, could we have a word in private?"
Cecilia followed Duane to a nearby corner. He looked at her and explained, "It’s a sensitive time right now. Jeb has been really busy lately with a lot to handle. He specifically told all of us to keep a low profile and not stir up any trouble."
As he spoke, he glanced over at Kai Sherman and sighed. "So, Cecilia, please don’t mention this to Jeb. If he found out, I’m afraid..."
Cecilia smiled faintly at his words and nodded in understanding. "Don’t worry, I have no reason to go tattling to my brother about something like this. But what did you mean just now by a ’sensitive time’?"
"Cecilia, please don’t ask. I can’t say any more about it." Duane was tight-lipped, making it clear he wouldn’t elaborate.
Cecilia didn’t press him. When you worked for her brother, being tight-lipped was a necessity. She knew she wouldn’t get anything more out of him.
After they finished speaking, they walked back. Duane gave Kai Sherman a slight nod. Seeing this, Kai felt a weight lift from his chest. He took the initiative to speak to Cecilia again. "Cecilia, I’m located very close to No. 2 High. If your brother runs into any trouble at school in the future, he can come find me anytime. I’ll help you look out for him."
Cecilia stepped forward and put an arm around her brother’s shoulder. "Did you hear that? If you run into any trouble, you can come here and find Kai."
Ethan Sterling nodded. Having witnessed his sister’s capabilities, his fear of these people had diminished considerably.
Just as they were about to leave, Blair, who hadn’t said a word the entire time, suddenly walked toward Golden Blade.
Everyone looked on in surprise. Golden Blade had an almost traumatic reaction, instinctively stumbling back two steps, his badly swollen eyes filled with terror as he looked at Blair.
But Blair remained silent. He simply grabbed Golden Blade’s dislocated left arm, and with a quick, precise twist and push...
"AARGH..."
Golden Blade howled in pain, but a second later, a distinct POP echoed from his arm. The dislocated joint had been reset.
The pain in his arm vanished instantly. Golden Blade, mouth half-open, swallowed the rest of his scream. He stared at Blair, a mixture of fear and shock in his eyes.
Blair turned back to Cecilia. "Just a compulsion. I can’t stand to see a dislocated arm just dangling there."
Cecilia chuckled at that. She turned to Duane and Kai Sherman. "We’re leaving now. You should hurry and get these guys to a hospital to treat their wounds. They look pretty gruesome."
"Cecilia, about the compensation..."
Cecilia waved her hand. "Forget it. It’s not like they have the money to pay anyway. For your sakes, I won’t pursue it."
Hearing this, Kai Sherman felt even more ashamed. But since Cecilia had said so, he was certainly grateful for her generosity.
After escorting Cecilia and her group outside the pool hall, Kai Sherman finally saw the twenty-eight-inch bicycle.
Duane offered, "Cecilia, are you heading back to school? I drove. I can give you a ride."
"That’s okay. You guys go on and take care of your business."
Duane nodded. "Alright, then. Let me know if you need anything. I’ll get going."
After Duane left, Kai Sherman also said his goodbyes to Cecilia and took his battered underlings to the hospital.
"Ethan, I’m heading back too," Jameson Stone said quietly to Ethan Sterling. "I’ll go with you to the police station tomorrow after school to withdraw the report."
Ethan Sterling nodded slightly. "Okay, ride safe. See you tomorrow."
Jameson Stone looked toward Cecilia and Blair. "Goodbye," he said.
"Goodbye."
After Jameson Stone left, Cecilia asked her brother, "Is he a classmate of yours?"
Ethan answered truthfully, "He’s in the class next to mine."
Cecilia raised an eyebrow but didn’t press for details. She flagged down a taxi and had Ethan and Blair get in. "Let’s stay at home tonight."
Jasmine Sterling had spent the entire day out shopping with Wendy Duncan. They not only had afternoon tea at a high-end club but also bought tons of clothes, jewelry, and perfume.
This was the first time Jasmine Sterling had ever spent money so extravagantly. But it seems knowing how to spend money is an innate talent in all women. Having been frugal for half her life, she had always believed that one shouldn’t spend recklessly even if they had money. But today, after casting that notion aside, it felt as if she had stepped into a brand-new world.
’Spending money feels great!’
’Spending the money her daughter gave her feels even better!’
When Cecilia and the others got home, they were stunned to see a huge pile of designer shopping bags on the sofa.
"Mom, you went shopping?"
Cecilia was both surprised and delighted. Surprised that her mother had bought so many things—all of them designer brands. Delighted that her mother was finally willing to spend money on herself!
Jasmine Sterling smiled and explained, "Estelle’s mom invited me out. At first, I was a little reserved. But when I watched her picking out clothes and jewelry she liked and paying for them, something just clicked for me. I used to be frugal because we didn’t have money. Now that the family is well-off, what’s the point of being frugal anymore?"
