Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 281 - 279: New Female Streamer, Blair
On the first day of school, the entrance was especially lively. Some out-of-town students had already returned to campus early, while most of the ones returning today were local students from Lorcain.
"Charles Jennings?"
The group had just gotten out of the car. As Charles Jennings was helping get the luggage from the trunk, two girls suddenly walked up to him, a look of pleasant surprise on their faces as they greeted him.
The two seemed stunned by how handsome Charles Jennings was after getting rid of his glasses, their eyes wide with disbelief. One of the girls covered her mouth and said, "Oh my god, it really is you? I almost didn’t recognize you. I only realized it was you after I saw the car your dad usually drives."
Charles Jennings had never been in a situation like this before. He just nodded, a bit awkwardly, and explained softly, "This isn’t my dad’s car."
"We know. Your dad’s the driver for that rich family, right?"
The other girl quickly added, "You look like a completely different person without your glasses. You’re really handsome."
This only made Charles Jennings more embarrassed. He’d gotten the surgery to look sharper and better, but not for people like them.
Estelle Goodman and Cecilia Sterling saw this happen. Cecilia deliberately glanced at Estelle to gauge her reaction, but unfortunately, Estelle didn’t seem the least bit upset. In fact, she seemed to be enjoying the show.
"Now that his good looks have been unsealed, Charles Jennings is definitely going to have a lot of girls chasing after him." Cecilia said this on purpose, trying to test Estelle.
But Estelle just snickered. "Not necessarily. The seal on his face may be gone, but with his personality? I doubt he even knows what a ’crush’ is, let alone ’love.’"
Cecilia furrowed her brow at her. Her heart ached for Charles Jennings.
’Who’s the one who doesn’t know?’
Charles Jennings didn’t have much with him, just a single handbag. His first order of business upon returning to school was helping Estelle Goodman carry her two large suitcases to her dorm.
But just as the group reached the dorm building, they spotted Blair under a tree directly opposite the entrance.
She was wearing a red and white tracksuit and setting up a selfie stick under a tree.
Seeing this, Cecilia and Estelle exchanged a puzzled look before walking over to Blair together.
"Blair!"
As they got closer, Estelle called out to her. Blair turned, and a small smile appeared on her face when she saw it was them. "I’ve already cleaned the dorm room. You two can go on up."
Cecilia looked at the selfie stick she had set up, then back at her face, and asked, confused, "What are you doing?"
"Live-streaming!"
"Live-streaming?"
The two were shocked. Blair nodded without hesitation. "Yeah, I’ve been streaming for two days now. It’s going pretty well. People are even sending me gifts."
Estelle Goodman found this incredible. "What are you streaming? Your martial arts practice?"
Blair picked up a bundle from the ground and patted it. "My tools of the trade are all in here. Different gifts get different props. Swords, spears, staffs, clubs, axes, halberds, hooks, forks—I can do it all!"
Cecilia and Estelle Goodman looked at each other. Then Cecilia asked, "Whose idea was this?"
’How did she suddenly come up with this kind of live-stream?’
"It was my own idea. There are dance streamers online who perform different dances for different gifts. Well, if other people can dance, I can do martial arts!" As she spoke, Blair looked at Cecilia. "Cecilia, I have to find a way to earn money to buy Master’s house back from you."
"I’m not in a hurry," Cecilia said quickly.
"I know you’re not, but I am. And I know my master is. Besides, this gives me a chance to put my martial arts skills to use. Live-streaming can also promote our Cathayan martial arts culture. I think it’s a great idea."
She was so straightforward and earnest; it was clear she was taking this matter very seriously.
Cecilia nodded in understanding. "If you want to do it, then go for it. Estelle and I will support you unconditionally."
Estelle still thought it sounded too exhausting, but since Cecilia had already spoken, she added hesitantly, "Of course I support you too, but don’t overwork yourself."
Blair smiled. "It’s not tiring. I have to practice every day anyway. For me, this is just adding a camera. It’s no different."
With that, the two didn’t say any more. Seeing that she was about to start her stream, they headed into the girls’ dorm.
The dorm supervisor saw Charles Jennings emerge from behind them. "Hey, young man! You can’t go up!"
"Ma’am, he’s just helping me with my bags. He’ll be out in five minutes."
"Five minutes, then. No dawdling."
"Absolutely. Thank you, Ma’am."
As they walked, Estelle turned to Cecilia and whispered, "Will the live-streaming thing really work? I heard a lot of the people who send gifts to female streamers have bad intentions!"
"Blair knows what she’s doing," Cecilia said. "With her skills, who would dare try anything funny with her?"
"That’s true. I hope she can make some money from this."
On the way up, the handsome Charles Jennings naturally attracted the attention of the girls in the dorm. He was stared at the entire way, a completely different treatment from the last time he’d been in the girls’ dorm.
They pushed open the door to their room. The dorm, unoccupied over the winter break, had been cleaned spotless by Blair. Estelle threw her arms wide with excitement. "School’s finally starting! I was about to grow mold from staying home all vacation. I’ve missed our happy life here, just the three of us!"
Then she turned to Cecilia, looking for validation. "You feel the same way, right, Cecilia?"
Cecilia’s lips twitched into a small smile. "Not really. My mom and my brother came to Lorcain, so I’d rather be at home with them."
Estelle Goodman immediately rolled her eyes. "Jeez, you’re no fun. You couldn’t just play along?"
From behind them, Charles Jennings chose this moment to speak up. "I should get going now. Text me if you need anything. Goodbye, Cecilia."
"Go on, go on." Estelle waved her hand dismissively, taking the two large suitcases without even giving Charles Jennings a proper look.
Charles Jennings seemed used to it. He nodded at Cecilia, then turned and left.
As for Estelle Goodman, she pushed her luggage aside, eagerly pulled over a chair, sat down, and immediately took out her phone.
"Let’s go see my girl Blair’s live-stream!"
But when she opened Blair’s Tiktok homepage, she found that there was no live-stream.
"Huh?"
Estelle Goodman said in surprise, "Why isn’t she live?"
With that, she rushed to the balcony and looked down. She saw Blair live-streaming on her phone, with a crowd of students gathered around to watch her perform with a sword!
Cecilia walked over and said helplessly, "She probably started a new account for streaming. I guess she doesn’t want us to watch. Otherwise, we’d definitely lose control and send her a bunch of gifts."
"What’s wrong with that? She’s live-streaming, so of course we should send her some gifts to show support and boost her popularity. Isn’t that normal?" Estelle didn’t see a problem with it at all.
