Chapter 2545: Chapter 2539: Investigating Personally
Dongfang Li, lost in thought, didn’t know that in the man’s mind she was seen as a mummy-like presence. If she knew, she wouldn’t know whether to cry or laugh.
Dongfang Li didn’t know how long she stood there until she felt her feet starting to go numb. Only then did she come to her senses, reach out to close the window, and shut herself inside. With Qin Xue looking after Nannan, she didn’t need to worry about him. Now, she just wanted to be quiet and alone, completely unaware of how long she had been watched, confirming that saying: "You stand there looking at the scenery, yet you become the scenery for others."
Jin Yufeng watched her stand by the window alone for so long before leaving, wondering why she closed the window. He couldn’t understand it, and his gaze lingered on the closed window for several moments. It seemed the child was really not home, but he had been waiting there for so long, and the child hadn’t come back. Did she not worry? Or was it that someone familiar had taken the child with them, possibly the person helping her this time?
Jin Yufeng thought of this, turned around, and left. Some things needed to be checked out, and this time he would investigate personally.
Indeed, previously he had delegated these matters to others, so it was normal that some details were not uncovered. But now he had time and was here in person, so he decided to investigate himself, believing that even the most perfect plan would have flaws.
Jin Yufeng left, and inside, Dongfang Li was unaware. After Qin Xue returned to the store with Nannan and finished the tasks there, she was about to take him back to his mother, but paused to reconsider.
"Nannan, would you like to go home with Auntie first? Let your mom and dad have some alone time." Qin Xue was worried they had things yet to discuss, or might end up arguing, which wouldn’t be good for the child to witness. So she planned to take him to her own home first, allowing them to talk properly.
"Alright." Nannan had no objections. He also hoped his mom and dad could have a good relationship. Other parents seemed to always be together, but his always seemed different. So, he wished to see his mother happy, rather than as unhappy as she seemed now.
In Nannan’s heart, his mother wasn’t happy. He never asked why, but seeing her gaze into the distance, he thought perhaps she was thinking of his father. Thus, he didn’t oppose Qin Xue’s suggestion, even if he wouldn’t go back home today.
"Okay, then go home with Auntie. We’ll play with your little brother." Qin Xue looked at Nannan; he was so calm, she truly wondered if he was really a child. In many ways, similar to her own child, Yu Ze, although Yu Ze appeared even less like a child.
As a mother, saying this wasn’t quite right, but the fact remained that the child didn’t behave like a typical child.
"Mommy, why is Nannan here?" Yu Ze’s voice sounded.
"His mom has something to attend to, so I brought him home. Play together, and I’ll go clean up and make you something to eat." Qin Xue hadn’t expected Yu Ze; the moment they arrived home, he was the first to appear, truly unexpected.
"No need, Mommy, Auntie made us something, and Auntie is also here." Yu Ze and the others had already eaten, so Qin Xue, being away, wasn’t aware of these arrangements.
"Wasn’t Auntie at the store? How did she end up here?" When Qin Xue went to the store, she didn’t see her. The staff had said Auntie went out to buy some ornaments, and should have returned to the store by now, so how was she at home?
"Auntie didn’t say, but I heard her asking whether Auntie had gone to register." Yu Ze shook his head; not having gone out, he didn’t know what had happened.
