Chapter 2070: Chapter 2064: Myrrh
"Okay, sister, you sit outside for a bit. I’ll be right there," Ji Yan said to Qin Xue, handing the water to his sister instead.
"Alright." Qin Xue was lost in her own thoughts, but she still responded to Ji Yan.
Qin Xue went to the table and looked at her bag, thinking about what to do. Finally, she took out a bottle of the anti-inflammatory medicine she made. It contained American ginseng and other herbs, which wouldn’t raise any suspicion, so there was no problem doing this. However, she would need to refine more when she got back.
This was like a protective charm for the family; making more wouldn’t hurt. After all, she had this cheating instrument.
"Brother, how did you meet such a capable person like that sister?" Xiao Yu couldn’t get any information from Qin Xue, so she tried asking her brother.
"I just happened to know she’s a doctor, and she’s quite nice. So I asked her to help look at your illness. She’s really kind; after hearing about your condition, she said it could be cured and agreed to come take a look. Why are you asking?" Ji Yan didn’t want to tell his sister that he was caught stealing from Qin Xue and the others.
"Why does it differ from what that sister said?" Xiao Yu stared at her brother. Her brother never lies, but his eyes faltered just now. He didn’t avoid answering, which means asking for help was true, but the acquaintance was fake.
Over the years, Xiao Yu had seen the warmth and coldness of the mortal world. She knew the expression of someone speaking truth versus lies. Maybe she couldn’t tell with others, but with her brother, whom she grew up with, she could tell if he was lying.
"What did she say?" Ji Yan’s heart skipped a beat, worrying Qin Xue might have said he stole from them, which would make his sister very upset.
"What she said was similar to yours, just didn’t mention you asked for her help." Xiao Yu didn’t say anything more.
"Oh, that’s good." Ji Yan sighed in relief. As long as she didn’t bring it up, he didn’t know how to face his sister.
If his sister knew he stole money for her treatment, she might refuse the treatment altogether.
Ji Yan understood his sister well in this regard; just as he didn’t want anything to happen to her, she didn’t want him to be in trouble.
"There’s nothing to it, brother. Why are you so nervous?" Xiao Yu looked at him, wondering if he was hiding something from her.
"Nothing, just thinking our little Yu will soon be well, and I’m happy." Ji Yan adjusted his emotions, not wanting his sister to notice anything was wrong.
"What a loving pair of siblings," Qin Xue murmured softly as she watched everything happening in the room from outside.
Siblings like this are enviable because that’s how family is. Thinking of this, Qin Xue also thought of her other siblings. She wondered if they were doing well. Xiao Yu’s grades should be out by now, and she wondered if he could get into the Imperial Academy.
If possible, Qin Xue wanted to transfer her sister here to study, but she wasn’t sure if it would be feasible.
Transferring schools was not easy these days. Tuition fees were getting higher than regular school fees.
Since Chu Molin’s household registration was in the Imperial Capital, she wondered if that could exempt them from transfer fees. She planned to ask about this when she got back; otherwise, having siblings scattered and not caring for each other wasn’t good.
Deciding on this, Qin Xue had an idea. She planned to ask her siblings’ opinions once she inquired about the possibility. Otherwise, they might get disappointed if they knew they might come but end up not being able to.
