Gong Shiya shook her head. Taking Gu Yaohui’s arm for support, she started down the stairs. Gu Yaohui wanted to stop her, but seeing her determination, he could only escort her down carefully.

"Aunt."

Gu Hengzhi also came forward, stopping in front of Gong Shiya.

"Where is she? Where is Ke’er?"

Without even greeting Gu Hengzhi, Gong Shiya began scanning the room. When she couldn’t find who she was looking for, she turned to Gu Yaohui and asked anxiously.

Hearing Gong Shiya’s words, Gu Yaohui froze for a moment, then looked over at Gu Hengzhi. Sure enough, Gu Hengzhi was looking back at him with a similar expression.

Gu Yaohui had assumed that Gong Shiya wouldn’t remember mistaking Shen Nian for Gu Ke’er once she woke up.

After all, it wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.

But from what she just said, it was obvious this time was completely different. Gong Shiya still remembered—she remembered seeing Shen Nian perfectly.

"Shiya, what are you talking about?"

Gu Yaohui asked again, both to ensure he hadn’t misunderstood and to avoid causing her more distress.

"I just saw Ke’er! Don’t tell me you didn’t find her? Where is she? I saw her just a moment ago, but now she’s gone! Where did Ke’er go? Where have you taken my Ke’er?"

Gong Shiya grew more agitated as she spoke, trying to get up to search the room for Shen Nian.

Fortunately, Gu Yaohui reacted quickly. As Gong Shiya tried to stand, he immediately pulled her back into his embrace.

"Shiya, you must have been mistaken. There was no one here just now."

Under normal circumstances, Gu Yaohui might have told Gong Shiya the truth right away. However, after his recent conversation with Gu Hengzhi, he decided to keep it from her for the time being. At the very least, he would wait until the DNA test results from Country M arrived.

He would only dare tell Gong Shiya once he had a definitive result. Otherwise, he worried—what if this was all just a delusion he and Gu Hengzhi shared? If they were wrong, telling her prematurely would deal another devastating blow to her.

However, Gu Yaohui hadn’t expected Gong Shiya to be so uncharacteristically resolute, especially after her illness.

"No, it’s impossible! I wasn’t mistaken. I know I saw Ke’er, I know I did!"

"Shiya, Shiya, calm down. Don’t get so agitated. It’s not good for your health."

Gu Yaohui held onto Gong Shiya, terrified that in her agitated state, she would do some harm to her body.

"I’m fine. There’s nothing wrong with me. In fact, I feel better than I have in a very long time. Yaohui, please take me to see Ke’er, okay?"

Seeing that Gong Shiya’s condition really did seem much better than before, Gu Yaohui started to believe her a little more.

’Before this, Gong Shiya had only received treatment from Shen Nian and nothing else. So, this significant improvement in her health must be all thanks to Shen Nian.’

’Previously, the reason he’d said he trusted Shen Nian’s abilities was partly because of the Chu Family and partly because he trusted Gu Hengzhi’s judgment.’

’But now, he had no choice but to believe it. Shen Nian truly was that capable!’

’But as he thought about it, why did he feel a hint of pride?’
