Chapter 447: Stay Away From That Bastard

"Ruochen, what are you doing?" Han Xuehan came to call Han Ruochen for dinner when she saw her walking out of Han Ziyan’s room. Though she had not stayed long at her natal home, she knew that Han Ruochen did not like Han Ziyan. Why was she in her room? Did something happen?

Han Ruochen had not expected her sister to come looking for her, but she did not show any panic in her eyes. She calmly smiled at her elder sister and said to her in a low voice, "It’s nothing. I am leaving for four to five days, so I wanted to check up on Ziyan. Even if she has made a lot of mistakes, she is my sister in the end."

When Han Xuehan heard her response, she did not sense anything amiss and nodded. "Is she awake? If so, call her for dinner." Han Xuehan did not want to make things too ugly. Even if Han Ziyan did not come to the hospital, she could not deliberately starve the woman to death, could she? Anyway, Han Ziyan was acting unfilial, and that was on her, but they could not act too cruelly, could they?

"She is asleep. I tried to wake her up, but she did not respond." Han Ruochen shook her head. "What did you cook for dinner, Sister? It smells really good."

Han Ruochen changed the topic because she did not want Han Xuehan to worry about Han Ziyan.

Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, Han Xuehan’s mood changed, and she immediately started telling Han Ruochen what she had cooked. "Oh, it’s nothing; I just braised some fish like big brother taught us and made a few changes. You know the chilli sauce that one of the clients from the capital gifted Dad? I used it to temper the recipe. I don’t know if it worked or not, but the smell is really good."

Han Xuehan couldn’t do much around the house. So she was quite happy when Han Ruochen praised her for her cooking.

Han Ruochen smiled and listened to her sister’s babbling. She knew that Han Xuehan was also worried about her lack of work and a job, but Han Ruochen was also busy during these days. Maybe after she was done with this trip, she would take Han Xuehan to the south and buy new sets of clothes. They could not start by opening a shop straightaway. That would be too conspicuous; she might as well arrange for a stall and then lead Han Xuehan around the city.

Anyway, her sister was good at socialising; she should be able to attract some customers with her fashion sense and sweet talk. Once Han Xuehan had established herself in the market, she would then think of buying a shop for her sister.

Speaking of setting up a shop...

"Sister, if brother-in-law comes to look for you when I am not at home, try to stay away from him and don’t believe his lies, alright?" Han Ruochen was worried that Qiao Tingyan would come looking for Han Xuehan when she was not at home. Though the Qiao family had stayed quiet for months, she knew that they could not survive without her sister’s pampering.

Mother Qiao had gotten used to her sister serving her like a servant, and that woman, Xiao Ai —she did not seem like a woman who would be willing to serve others. It would not be surprising if Qiao Tingyan came to look for her sister when she was not at home. Her father and brother were not at home either. What if Qiao Tingyan took advantage of their absence?

Her eyes darkened, and she said with a stern face, "Sister, pack your bags as well. After dinner, I will take you to grandma’s house. Stay there for five days or until I return. Don’t meet with brother-in-law alone; you cannot fight him, and it will be terrible if he drags you back home when we are not here to protect you."

Han Ruochen could never forget the sight of her sister’s mutilated corpse that she saw on the television and the brutal cruelty of the Qiao family. If not for the fact that she could not kill and bury Qiao Tingyan as he did to her sister, she would have done it long ago to make sure that he would not cause trouble for her sister in the future ever again!

She would rather let her sister hide in the house like a coward than face Qiao Tingyan.

Han Xuehan’s face turned pale when she heard Han Ruochen talk about Qiao Tingyan. She parted her lips but then nodded in a dazed manner; in fact, she was also afraid of Qiao Tingyan coming to meet with her. It had been more than two months since she came to stay with her family; in fact, she was a bit troubled when she saw that her husband had not come looking for her. And this silence was what made her uneasy.

"Ruochen—"

"Don’t even think about going back." Han Ruochen’s eyes darkened when she heard the half-pleading and half-suggesting tone of her sister. "Sister, I will sound harsh, but let me be blunt with you. Not being able to give birth is not always the fault of a woman; maybe it’s my brother-in-law who has a weak sperm count and cannot get you pregnant."

"And even if the fault did lie with you, my brother-in-law should have taken you to the hospital rather than bringing a woman home. This is not a simple matter of making a mistake. It means that there is something amiss with his character. A man who can bring a woman back home as his mistress when his wife is alive and well – who knows what he can do in the future? I dare not leave you in his hands. So you’d better stay at home for me and not cause any trouble by returning to your in-laws."

Han Ruochen knew that even if Qiao Tingyan looked honest, he had countless little thoughts in his head, and he was a typical narrow-minded man. The fact that he did not come to apologise even once in these two months showed that he did not take her sister seriously and even believed that Han Xuehan would return to his home of her own accord. What did this prove? It proved that the Qiao family took Han Xuehan for granted!
