Chapter 436: Make A Deal

Xu Yuanshu knew that if she got entangled with Lu Wei, nothing good would come out of it.

"What are you saying, you girl? If you don’t go and talk with Lu Wei, then what will your brother do? It’s clear that Han Yong is not up to the mark at the moment. No one knows when it will be his turn to make a big splash; I heard from the people in the village that Han Yong is working as a small chef in a small restaurant. How much can he earn? Can he give you and Zhicheng the same life that you two used to live before? Of course not!"

Father Xu snorted. When he saw Han Yong rushing to the county every day, he thought that the man was looking for ways to expand and revive his business. Who would have thought that he actually went to become a chef!? Father Xu was embarrassed just thinking about how his good son-in-law ended up becoming a chef.

"But Lu Wei is different. He is working in the Canning factory; he already has an iron bowl, and his position is not low at all. As long as you succeed in climbing to his side, you will be able to live a good life. Maybe he will even give you a job. Don’t you think so?"

Father Xu was already dreaming about his good days to return and did not even think that it was wrong of him to sell his daughter in such a disgusting manner. Anyway, as long as he could live well and save the life of his son, why would he care about his daughter? Though it was not quite visible, the truth was that Father Xu and Mother Xu favoured boys over girls. Since that was the case, they would never think twice before selling their daughter off to save their son.

Xu Yuanshu frowned hard when she heard that Han Yong was going to the county because he had become a chef; she could not help but feel a bit disgusted. She knew that Han Yong had been going to the county these days, but she had no idea that he actually went to become a chef. That man was really out to make things difficult for her. If others found out that her husband had become a chef in a small restaurant, then wouldn’t they mock her to death?

When Father Xu saw that his daughter was somewhat moved, he continued to coax her, "Shushu, think about it carefully. I am not saying this just because of your brother; I am also worried about you. Just think about it: your husband has started working as a chef, and he can no longer provide you the same kind of comfort that he used to in the past. Do you really want to follow such a man?"

Of course not! If not for the fact that she had no other choice left now, Xu Yuanshu would never think of following someone like Han Yong.

"Let me think about it."

The next morning, when Han Ruochen woke up, she did not see Han Ziyan at home. However, she did not pay attention to her absence; instead, she went to the kitchen and cooked some simple fish soup for her father along with crab roe fried rice for her sister and Han Beijiang, and for Han Ziyan, she skipped her mind completely. Once she was done, she hurriedly packed the fish soup in a container and then went out of the house.

"Miss Han."

Han Ruochen paused in her stride and turned to look at the thugs, who had once stopped her at the docks and frowned hard. "What are you doing here?"

The leader of the thug grinned at her and questioned, "Do you really want us to talk here? I don’t think you would like it if anyone hears us."

When Han Ruochen heard his words, her eyes darkened. She immediately followed the thugs to a more secluded corner of the village. Though she was not scared of being seen, Han Ruochen knew that if she was seen, then it would be quite troublesome. They quietly moved to a far-off spot, where Han Ruochen placed the tiffin in one corner and turned to face the leader of the thug.

"Tell me what is going on. I am in a hurry." She had to bring the tiffin to her father or else he would start feeling hungry. She was not scared of these thugs; at most she would use her supernatural strength and fight with all of them. Of course then she would have to skip the visit to the hospital because she herself would become a patient!

What was going on? Why was her luck so down when she was walking on land? Every time she went out of the house, something would happen.

The leader exchanged a look with his men and then turned to look at Han Ruochen. After much hesitation, he finally spoke up, "Do you know Xu Jin?"

"Xu Jin?" Han Ruochen’s frown deepened. As far as she knew, she had never heard about any Xu Jin or Su Jin. She was about to ignore the thugs and walk away when she heard the leader say, "He is Xu Yuanshu’s brother. She is your sister in law, right?"

Only then did she remember who this Xu Jin was. Hey, wasn’t this the gambling-addicted brother-in-law of her eldest brother? If she was not wrong in the past, her big brother had wiped Xu Jin’s arse many times. Every time he made a mess, Xu Yuanshu would cause a fuss at their home and later Han Yong would clean it up for the Xu family. But now that her brother had falken and was no longer the big boss, the Xu family actually turned to her?

Her eyes darkened and she looked at the people in front of her with a hint of disgust in her eyes. "What did that man do?" And why were these thugs looking for her?
