Han Xuehan’s face turned red. She knew that Han Ruochen was not scolding her; instead, she only wanted to teach her how to stand on her feet, but Han Xuehan had a feeling that she could not do it. She had never fought for herself, and suddenly Han Ruochen wanted her to take a stand for her own place at home. Han Xuehan could not help but think that Han Ruochen was expecting way too much from her.

"I just think there is no need to fight tooth and nail. I mean, she is still our sister." Han Xuehan muttered under her breath.

When Han Ruochen heard her response, she was not surprised; this was the temperament of her sister. She was even softer than a soft persimmon. It was no wonder she was bullied to death by her in-laws, and later her corpse was thrown into the mountains. Because Han Xuehan was not supported by her natal family, her in-laws calmly spread the word that she was a shameless hussy who ran away from home.

While it was their fault, the majority of the fault actually lay with Han Xuehan. She was too easy to bully, and her husband and mother-in-law did not take her seriously. They even brought a mistress home, and that woman and Han Xuehan’s husband rolled around in sheets every day, and yet her sister never said a word; she even took the illegitimate son and daughter as her own and allowed those people to ride on her head.

If Han Xuehan had fought back earlier, then Qiao Tingyan’s dirty deeds would have been out in the open first, and she would have become the victim, but her sister never fought back! In the end, even though she was the one who was bullied and beaten to death, she was called a shameless woman, and as for Qiao Tingyan? He could actually stand on the higher moral ground and scold their family for raising a shameless woman, and even marry his mistress in a high-profile manner.

What was even more embarrassing was that no one said a word! Because Qiao Tingyan did not do anything wrong in their eyes.

Thinking about the past, Han Ruochen’s eyes flashed with a hint of determination. "Sister, tell me one thing. Do you think what Han Ziyan said to you was correct? Please be honest with me because if you thought that what she did was indeed right, then you wouldn’t have felt bad."

Han Xuehan hesitated. She wanted to say that it was not a big deal, but she could not bring herself to say anything.

Seeing her sister struggling, Han Ruochen did not make things difficult for her. Instead, she gently stirred her sister to the dining room and started to take out the meat and seafood dishes that Lu Jingmo had packed for her and Han Xuehan, and for Han Ziyan, only the stir-fried dishes were left. Since that woman wanted to throw a temper tantrum, let her throw one.

"Sister, I understand that you treat Ziyan as your sister. But the bottom line is whether she is willing to treat you as her eldest sister. First of all, even if she wants to pretend that she had no hand in your marriage, in her heart she knows the truth; shouldn’t she feel guilty for you?"

Han Xuehan pursed her lips. She did not say anything, but at the same time she did not refute Han Ruochen, which could be counted as her silent agreement.

"Secondly, even if she doesn’t feel sorry for you, like you said, we are one family. Who doesn’t know what kind of bastardly thing Qiao Tingyan did to you? You are his legal wife, and yet he rushed to bring a mistress home just because you could not give birth to a child. Sister, no matter what the reason the Qiao family has, this is a terrible way to solve a problem. And who says that the problem lies with you? What if Qiao Tingyan is the one with a problem?"

"Having a child is not a matter related to a woman alone; a man shares equal responsibility."

"Ziyan knows it, but she doesn’t feel anything wrong about it, nor does she stand up for you; instead, she actually made snide remarks about you. Is this how a family member should treat you?"

Han Xuehan pursed her lips in silence. Of course not. When she told the truth to her dad, he was so angry that he wanted to kill someone. But Han Ziyan did not show even an ounce of worry. If anything, she treated it as if it was not a significant matter at all.

She even mocked her now and then.

Clearly, this was not how a family member would treat someone in her shoes.

When Han Ruochen saw that her sister was lost in her thoughts, she did not say anything. Instead, she gently nudged her and said, "Go on and start eating; you can think about the rest of the things slowly."

While the two of them were eating in silence, Han Ziyan was rolling in her bed. She was really hungry; earlier, she was quite upset with how Han Ruochen treated her, and that was why she said a few words. But who would have thought that even though she came upstairs and even made such a fuss, the two of them never came to convince her?

Han Ziyan pouted unhappily. She got up from her bed and then went to look for Han Ruochen and Han Xuehan; she wanted to ask them why they were treating her like this. But before she could even question them, she saw them finishing up their meals.

Han Ziyan’s eyes popped out of her sockets when she saw the empty dishes and shouted, "Why did you not call me?"

They actually ate their meal without her! She turned to look at Han Xuehan and spoke to her in a blaming tone, "Sister, what is this? I told you that I was hungry, so why did you not call me?" From the packaging, it seemed like the food was from a state-run restaurant; the dishes must be quite delicious, and they did not even bother to call her.
