Just as Qin Wenhao was about to leave, Mrs. Qin suddenly remembered something.

"When you have a moment, have a talk with your older brother."

Qin Wenhao’s expression didn’t change. "What am I supposed to talk to him about? He’s not a child. If he needs someone to talk sense into him, don’t come to me."

He never tried to talk sense into people.

Especially not about marital problems.

’He hadn’t even figured out his own marriage, so how could he possibly understand someone else’s?’

Mrs. Qin: ...?

"Aren’t you two brothers?"

"We don’t have to be. Enough. Everyone lives their own life, so why are you worrying so much? People who worry needlessly age faster."

After saying this, Qin Wenhao turned and left.

Mrs. Qin, left standing there, was fuming.

’Who was that damned brat calling old?’

Qin Wenhao left.

However, he ran into someone unexpected on his way out.

Gao Lan hadn’t expected to see her brother-in-law either. She immediately forced a smile and greeted him, "Wenhao, you’re back!"

Qin Wenhao ignored her and walked straight past.

He didn’t even bother with a simple nod of acknowledgment.

Gao Lan was left standing there, stunned.

She never imagined that her brother-in-law, Qin Wenhao, would just ignore her and walk off like that.

’How could he just ignore me like that?’

’Does he look down on me? Is that why he won’t even deign to speak to me?’

’Of course. The entire Qin Family looks down on me.’

Feelings of resentment and self-pity gnawed at her.

Several minutes passed before she finally headed toward the Qin Family Mansion.

When Mrs. Qin heard the knock and opened the door, she saw it was Gao Lan. Her brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.

"Mother! I’m here to find Qin Wenze!"

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Qin stated bluntly, "He’s not here."

’Indeed. Not letting Qin Wenze stay last night was absolutely the right decision.’

Gao Lan was stunned. She didn’t believe her.

’Where else could Qin Wenze go besides here?’

Although she and Qin Wenze had been married for less than a year, she still had some idea of his temperament.

He would never stay at a friend’s house.

Besides, his work unit didn’t have a dormitory for him to stay in.

A man as proud as him would never spend the night in his office.

"Mother, Qin Wenze didn’t come home last night. If he’s not here, where could he be? I know we had a fight, but it’s normal for couples to argue. He can’t just run away from home and ignore his family responsibilities."

Mrs. Qin’s expression was placid. "Gao Lan, I’ll say it one more time: Qin Wenze is not here. He didn’t sleep here last night, and frankly, I’m the one who forbade him from staying. Since you two have moved out, you should live your own lives. Stop fighting over every trivial thing."

"As for where he’s gone? He’s a grown man; he doesn’t need to report his whereabouts to me. And I have no intention of getting involved."

Gao Lan’s face went pale. She retorted resentfully, "Mother, he’s your son."

"He doesn’t have to be. Now, that’s enough. Don’t come running to my door every time you have a problem. I will not get involved in your affairs. You two can sort it out yourselves."

Mrs. Qin was truly sick of this.

’She should have vehemently opposed her eldest son’s remarriage from the start.’

’Or maybe she should have thrown them out the moment they registered their marriage.’

’It was just one thing after another, with no end in sight.’

Gao Lan’s face alternated between pale and ashen.

She was seething with resentment. "Mother, even if you’re going to be biased, you can’t be this blatant about it! Wenzhe and Qin Wenhao are both your sons, so why do you treat them so differently?"
