Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 556: Unafraid
Qin Wenshu could only say, "Alright, alright. I won’t fight you for it!"
He remembered what happened with the train tickets. He had claimed the eldest aunt had already paid for them.
But his aunt had given him the money anyway.
If he tried to pay for this meal, he figured his aunt would just argue with him about it for ages.
Mrs. Fu was satisfied when she heard this.
Then, in one go, she ordered four dishes and a soup.
Additionally, she ordered one large and one small portion of rice, and also picked up two large steamed buns.
Qin Wenshu hadn’t expected his aunt to order so much.
Seeing that she was about to order more, he quickly stopped her. "Auntie, that’s more than enough."
"Alright, this will be it, then." Mrs. Fu didn’t feel the slightest pinch spending the money this time.
If she were eating alone, she certainly wouldn’t have ordered this much.
Before long, the four dishes, soup, rice, and steamed buns had all been served.
"Wenshu, thank you for all your trouble. Come on, have some of this braised pork. The chef at this restaurant is excellent. Eat up."
Two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, and an egg drop soup.
While the two of them were eating, word had already reached the Fu Family’s old house.
After all, the news of Mrs. Fu’s return had just spread. At the very least, everyone in the neighborhood knew.
"Mom, Second Aunt is back."
"What second aunt?" Yan Hongwei didn’t register who he meant at first.
"I mean Mingxue’s mom. She’s back."
When Yan Hongwei heard this, she nearly jumped to her feet.
"You’re saying that old bitch Xu Zifeng is back? What is she doing back now? She didn’t come when the old woman died, but now she shows up. What does she want?"
"Could it be... because we disturbed Second Uncle’s grave?" Fu Junyang asked guiltily.
He was Eldest Fu’s oldest son.
As soon as he said this, Eldest Fu’s entire family fell silent.
"No, it couldn’t be, could it?"
They had been so angry at the time that they had gone and dug up Second Brother Fu’s grave.
Later, someone told them they couldn’t do that—that Second Brother Fu’s grave was not to be touched.
So, the whole family went back that very night and filled the grave back in.
The other branches of the Fu family also heard the news of Mrs. Fu’s return.
They decided that after dinner, they would go over to Second Brother Fu’s house to see what was going on.
Unfortunately, when they arrived, Mrs. Fu and Qin Wenshu were still at the state-run restaurant and hadn’t come back yet.
Instead of going home, they decided to wait.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Fu had finished her meal.
She was the one who paid.
"Auntie, I’ll go get a room at the guesthouse first. I’ll head over to your place later."
"Alright. Do you know where the guesthouse is?"
"It’s on the main street. I saw it."
Hearing this, Mrs. Fu told him to go to the guesthouse and get his accommodations settled first.
After all, her house really wasn’t in any condition for guests to stay the night.
She could rough it for a night, but he couldn’t.
Just as she was about to say she would pay for it, Qin Wenshu, as if knowing what she was going to say, bolted.
Mrs. Fu watched his retreating back and, after a moment’s thought, decided to let it be.
When she got back to her house, she saw that bunch from the Fu family blocking her doorway and couldn’t help but let out a cold sneer.
’They have noses like dogs. The moment I show up, they come sniffing around.’
As she got closer, she shouted, "What is every last one of you doing blocking my door?"
"Xu Zifeng, you and your daughter are truly heartless! Your parents-in-law died, and you didn’t even come! What are you doing here now?"
Yan Hongwei demanded loudly.
Seeing Xu Zifeng in her new clothes, dressed just like someone from the city, her eyes turned red with jealousy.
With her temperament, there was no way Mrs. Fu would tolerate that.
She immediately shot back, "My husband has been dead for years. What parents-in-law are you talking about? And another thing, get this straight: my daughter and I cut ties with the Fu family long ago. What does it have to do with me whether they lived or died? Why should we have come?"
