"──There’s no way you can go alone. Not only would we be worried, I’m sure Mingxue would be very worried too. Besides, if you’re going to move the grave, the Fu family will definitely try to stop you. How could you possibly face that whole clan on your own?"

"How about this? Have Wenshu go with you. He might not be the most capable, but at least you’ll have company, and he can run errands. As for fighting... he can handle himself."

Mrs. Qin’s eyes lit up when she heard Mr. Qin’s suggestion.

’Why didn’t I think of that?’

She quickly nodded in agreement.

"Yes, yes, exactly! Have Wenshu go with you. That boy is just sitting around idle anyway. And even if he weren’t, he could still take a few days off. He might not be much help otherwise, but he can provide some backup, carry things... and get in a fight. He’s good at all that. Don’t mind how skinny he is. He can’t beat Wenhao, but he can definitely handle other people."

Mrs. Fu was baffled.

’Why is everyone talking about fighting?’

Then again, thinking of her husband’s relatives, a fight was a real possibility.

"Wouldn’t this be too much trouble for Wenshu?"

Mrs. Qin replied quickly, "No trouble at all! Wenshu will probably be happy about it. He complains all day long about being bored in Beijing City, and his mother is forcing him to go on blind dates. Getting a chance to leave Beijing with you—I bet he’ll be thrilled!"

"After all, it’s the perfect excuse to escape his mother’s matchmaking."

Mrs. Fu was speechless.

Mr. Qin brought the gavel down. "Then it’s settled."

Mrs. Fu was very moved.

She hadn’t expected her in-laws to be this kind.

So, she didn’t refuse their kind offer. "Then I’ll have to trouble Wenshu."

"When are you planning to leave? Tomorrow?" Mrs. Qin asked.

Mrs. Fu thought that since the decision was made, the sooner she left, the better.

Otherwise, what if she couldn’t get a train ticket back in time for the New Year?

Besides, she needed to get back early to shop for New Year’s supplies.

And with the New Year coming, the house needed a thorough cleaning.

"Tomorrow. I’ll head to the train station in a bit to check on tickets—"

Mrs. Qin cut her off. "Why would you go check for tickets? Just leave it to Wenshu. I’ll pop over to his place. You just wait here."

Without giving Mrs. Fu a chance to refuse, she turned and hurried out the door.

Mrs. Fu was left dumbfounded.

’But I haven’t given her any money yet!’

Mrs. Qin arrived at Qin Wenshu’s home.

As it happened, Qin Wenshu was in.

"Aunt, you’re in such a hurry. Is something urgent?"

"I’m here to see you!" Mrs. Qin said bluntly.

Qin Wenshu was surprised. "Aunt, what do you need me for?"

"Mingxue’s mother needs to make a trip back to her hometown. We’re not comfortable with her going alone, and Wenhao isn’t around. So, if you’re free, I’d like you to go with her. If you’re busy, I’ll just find—"

Mrs. Qin was about to say she would find someone else.

After all, the Qin family had plenty of young men among the cousins; each branch of the family could spare one or two.

Qin Wenshu spoke before he thought, cutting in, "I’m free! I’m very free! When do we leave? Right now? I can go right now—"

’The heavens are smiling down on me!’

’I was just looking for an escape and some peace and quiet. I can’t believe an opportunity just landed in my lap!’

Seeing how excited he was, the corner of Mrs. Qin’s mouth twitched.

She knew this kid would be happy to get a chance to leave Beijing. And she was right.

"You’re leaving tomorrow. Go to the train station now and buy two train tickets for tomorrow. Remember to get sleeper berths."

With that, Mrs. Qin took two hundred yuan from her pocket.

"This is for the round-trip train fare. You can keep whatever’s left."
