Fu Mingxue: ...

This was the first time in two lifetimes she had ever received so much prize money!

And she had earned it all on her own merits.

’So sweet!’

"Fine, go ahead and count it!"

’Once she’s done counting, she can finally go to sleep.’

’And she won’t be thinking about heading back anymore.’

"I’m going to take a shower first."

Mrs. Fu waved her hand. "Go on, hurry. If you’re hungry, go to the kitchen and make yourself something to eat. There are dumplings."

She had made the dumplings during the day.

The twins loved dumplings.

Since she was home with nothing to do anyway, she made some extra—after all, you have to dote on your own family.

With trembling hands, she took out the stack of cash.

She thought for a moment and decided it wasn’t safe to count the money in the main room.

’What if a thief happened to be peeking over their wall right now?’

’They’d see everything!’

So, she went straight back to her own room and began to count the money—

Fu Mingxue didn’t mind. As long as her mom was happy, that was all that mattered.

’To be honest, she really wanted to count it, too.’

’After all, she had earned it herself.’

Most importantly, the bonus was mind-blowing.

And then, the surprise was doubled.

Because, to her astonishment, the system had also given her a mind-blowing reward—another 15,000.

She had only just remembered it suddenly before leaving work.

After all, in the past, whenever she completed a project, she wouldn’t just get a reward in real life—the system would issue another one, too.

Even if there wasn’t a real-world reward, the system would still provide one.

So, the moment she remembered, she had quickly checked the system, which she had almost forgotten about.

She hadn’t expected to actually find anything, let alone another 15,000.

’Oh my god, I’m rich. I’m really, truly rich.’

’More of this, please!’

After her shower, she returned to her room.

Just as she was about to sit down and revise the data, there was a knock on her door.

"It’s me. Open up."

Her mom’s booming voice rang out.

Fu Mingxue walked over and opened the door. "Finished counting the money?"

"Finished. I counted it three times. It’s all there."

Fu Mingxue’s mouth twitched at her mother’s words.

’Was it really necessary to count it three times?’

’Then again, she wanted to count it three times, too.’

"Of course it’s all there."

"They’re the ones who gave it. You think they’d short us a bill?"

"You keep this money." Mrs. Fu had only wanted to count it.

This was the prize money her daughter had worked so hard to earn. How could she possibly take it?

Fu Mingxue knew her mom’s personality. If she really tried to give her all the money, she knew her mother would never accept it.

So she readily took it back and said, "In that case, I’ll give you two thousand."

"No, don’t. I still have plenty left from last time. Where would I even spend that much money?"

Mrs. Fu really didn’t have many expenses.

Just the occasional trip to buy groceries and whatnot.

After all, her daughter had a friend buy and deliver staples like grains, oil, rice, and flour.

Ignoring her mother’s protests, Fu Mingxue expertly pulled out a stack of bills.

"You take this. I’ll put the rest in savings for now."

When she saw her mom was about to push the money back, she said:

"Isn’t the New Year right around the corner? You’ll need money to shop for the festivities, won’t you? You’ll need money to buy new clothes for the kids, won’t you? And you’ll need money to buy gifts for your in-laws, right?"

"Besides, I’m so busy every day. What if I forget to give you your allowance? Just keep the extra money; it’s the same as putting it in savings. In the end, whatever you don’t spend is still mine, isn’t it?"

Mrs. Fu: ...?

She shot her a look. "Fine, I’ll take it. You get to bed early tonight."

"Okay, Mom. Your daughter can make good money now, so don’t be afraid to spend it."

"I know, I know." Mrs. Fu took the money and turned to leave.

When she returned to her room and counted the money, it was exactly two thousand.

Tsk. When had her daughter’s hands gotten so precise?

Fu Mingxue had no idea what her mother was thinking. If she had, she would have proudly retorted, "I do precision work for a living! I’m so skilled I could be a Level 10 Fitter. You think I can’t grab a precise amount of cash?"
