Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 529: Plan
Gao Lan immediately said, "Why can’t he stay with us? We can have the two brothers share a room. It’s just a matter of one more plate at the table."
Hearing this, Qin Wenze was so angry he almost laughed.
’Is this just a matter of one more plate at the table?’
’Raising someone else’s child means taking on a lot more responsibility.’
’If something were to happen, how could we not be held responsible?’
’How has it taken me this long to see that Gao Lan will do anything for her brother?’
’Adopting her older brother’s son was one thing...’
’Now she wants to raise his other son, too.’
"My own two children are still being raised by my parents, yet you want me to raise your nephew? Is that reasonable? Why don’t you just have your older brother and his wife move in with us permanently?"
Hearing his sarcastic tone, Gao Lan’s face instantly fell.
"Why are you talking to me like that? I was just trying to discuss it with you."
Any good mood Qin Wenze had was now completely gone.
"There’s nothing to discuss. This isn’t happening. As for Yaohui School, I’ll arrange for a transfer to Third Primary School instead. Your older son can just stay at his original school."
"Have you always resented me for not raising your two kids?" Gao Lan demanded.
Qin Wenze denied it outright. "No."
"You answered so quickly, doesn’t that just prove you feel that way? Fine. I won’t ask my nephew to come over. Let’s bring Qin Yue and Qiaoqiao home to live with us. We’re their parents. From now on, our family will live a good life together."
Hearing this, Qin Wenze’s head shot up. "What do you mean by that?"
This time, Gao Lan’s tone wasn’t as sharp as before.
She spoke calmly. "That was my fault. It was actually my mom who suggested it, and I couldn’t just refuse her outright. So I just brought it up with you, so I’d have an answer for her later. After all, you know what my mom is like."
Qin Wenze was speechless.
’This isn’t going the way I expected.’
’Then again, his mother-in-law did have that kind of petty, small-minded personality—she could be both clueless and incredibly difficult to deal with.’
Then, Gao Lan continued.
"I’ve been thinking. At the end of the day, I married you, so I have to be a good stepmother. The two kids are still so young; how can we keep troubling your parents to raise them? If we do, won’t they grow distant from you?"
"Besides, your parents are getting older. It’s not right for us to make them work so hard. The kids need help with their homework, and more importantly, they need their father in their lives as they grow up."
"So, let’s bring the children back to live with us and raise them ourselves. Even though I might have done some things wrong in the past, I promise I’ll be a good stepmother from now on."
Qin Wenze looked at her. Other than the sincere expression on her face, he truly couldn’t read anything else.
"Wenzhe, we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together. I know you’re not happy about me adopting my brother’s son, but I was just afraid that I wouldn’t have anyone close to me when I get old."
"And I’ve also thought about it a lot these past few days. I know you want your own son and daughter by your side, too. So let’s bring the two kids back and raise them ourselves. We’ll have three children in the house, and I swear I’ll treat them all equally. If I ever do something wrong, you can just tell me and I’ll correct it."
Qin Wenze was silent for a moment before speaking. "My mom has to agree to this. If she doesn’t, then the two kids will stay where they are."
Gao Lan thought to herself, ’How could her mother-in-law possibly agree to that?’
’She’s probably already on guard, thinking of me as the wicked stepmother, afraid I’ll harm those two children.’
"Okay, then you go talk to Mom. It would be best if she agrees. If not, then just let the two kids come stay with us for a couple of days. That way, you can strengthen your bond with them. You can’t just wait until you’ve become strangers."
"It’s like how Yu Yu and Qiaoqiao don’t even seem to call you ’Dad’ anymore..."
