"Gao Lan—"

"Gao Lan—"

The mother and son shouted at the same time.

Seeing this, Fu Mingxue rushed out to call for a doctor.

"Doctor, hurry! She vomited blood and passed out!"

Her voice was loud, and the doctors and nurses nearby came rushing in as soon as they heard her.

The doctor was quite angry. "What is wrong with you all? Didn’t I tell you to keep the patient calm and avoid any major emotional distress?"

Qin Wenze’s eyes were filled with worry.

The doctor performed a quick examination—and finally let out a sigh of relief.

"Thankfully, there’s no major hemorrhaging, but you must not agitate the patient again. She’s in a critical period right now. If her emotions fluctuate too much, she could easily start bleeding uncontrollably again."

"Yes, we understand." But Qin Wenze couldn’t relax.

’What will we do when Gao Lan wakes up again?’

’She’ll never be able to accept this.’

"Doctor, if she asks when she wakes up, can you please tell her she might still be able to have children in the future?"

The doctor looked at him, baffled.

"No. We can’t lie like that. You should avoid bringing this topic up with the patient at all."

With that, the doctor left the room.

Gao Lan had been given medication this time, so she didn’t wake up.

Mrs. Qin knew she probably wouldn’t wake up again that night, so she said tiredly to Fu Mingxue, "Mingxue, you should head home for now."

"Mom, what about you? Are you staying here tonight?" Fu Mingxue asked.

Mrs. Qin nodded. "Yes, I definitely have to stay here tonight. You go on home. You have work tomorrow, after all. Be safe."

Fu Mingxue knew there was nothing she could do by staying.

So she nodded. "Alright, I’ll head back then."

Before she left, she glanced at the hospital bed—Gao Lan’s pale, ashen face made her heart ache.

Before leaving the hospital, she went to check on the old matriarch and saw that she was asleep.

She didn’t stay long before leaving the room.

When she got home, she saw the lights were still on.

Mrs. Fu heard the noise outside and came out after getting dressed.

As soon as she came out, Qin Yue, who had been lying down, quickly sat up.

"Mingxue, how is your sister-in-law?"

Fu Mingxue shook her head. "It’s not good. She lost the baby, and she might not be able to have children in the future."

Mrs. Fu was shocked. "That... that—"

Just then, a sob broke the silence.

Mrs. Fu’s heart sank. ’How could I have forgotten about Qin Yue?’

She had thought Qin Yue was already asleep, but he was still awake.

When Fu Mingxue heard the crying, she saw Qin Yue walk out of the room.

She was surprised. ’What’s this kid doing here?’

She couldn’t help but look at her mom.

’The kid is here, and Mom didn’t even give me a heads-up.’

’If she had, I wouldn’t have said what I just did.’

"Auntie, can she really not have any more babies? Is the little brother in her tummy gone now?"

Qin Yue’s eyes were incredibly red.

He really hadn’t meant for it to happen.

Fu Mingxue: ...

Mrs. Fu spoke up then. "I brought the two children home with me."

"Auntie, was what you just said true?" Qin Yue asked again.

Fu Mingxue sighed.

She didn’t know how to answer his question.

"The baby... is gone. As for the other part, I spoke too quickly. She’ll have children in the future. Now that this has happened, don’t blame yourself too much. The adults will handle it."

"Right now, the most important thing you can do is try to let it go and get a good night’s sleep. Once your Auntie Lan is out of the hospital, you can apologize to her properly."
