Just as the three adults and two children were enjoying their meal, a loud, urgent knock sounded at the main door.

The three adults put down their chopsticks.

"That sounds like Aunt Li."

Mrs. Qin said.

She immediately got up to open the door.

When she opened the door, she was met by the sight of a frantic-looking Aunt Li.

She was covered in sweat.

"Aunt Li, what’s wrong?"

"It’s terrible! Something’s happened at the house. Gao Lan... she had a miscarriage."

Mrs. Qin was horrified by Aunt Li’s words.

"You’re saying Gao Lan had a miscarriage? What happened? How could she miscarry, just like that?"

She had only been gone for two hours. Her eldest daughter-in-law had been perfectly fine right before she left.

Aunt Li quickly explained, "Qin Yue bumped into her. She fell, and then she started bleeding—a lot of blood. Wenzhe has already taken her to the hospital. The Old Madam fainted, too."

Hearing that the Old Madam had also fainted, Mrs. Qin grew even more frantic.

She immediately turned to leave.

Aunt Li hurried to follow her.

Mrs. Fu: ...?

She wanted to follow, but then remembered the twins were still there.

She urged her daughter, "Don’t just stand there gawking. Hurry up and see what’s going on."

’How could she have miscarried, just like that?’

Mrs. Fu was also sick with worry.

And she’d just heard the Old Madam had fainted.

At her age... if something were to happen, it would be disastrous.

Fu Mingxue quickly went to get her bicycle.

Once she got it outside, she hopped on and rode after the two women who were running ahead.

"Mom, get on! I’ll give you a ride."

She deliberately slowed the bicycle.

Mrs. Qin quickly hopped on.

"Should we go home first, or to the hospital?"

Mrs. Qin’s first instinct was to go to the hospital, but then she thought about the situation at home, which was still unknown.

So she said, "Let’s go home first."

"Alright. Hold on tight, Mom." Fu Mingxue started pedaling furiously.

It was like the wheels were about to spit sparks.

Mrs. Qin was too panicked to be scared, her arms wrapped tightly around Fu Mingxue’s waist.

They arrived at the Qin Family Mansion in no time.

The moment Fu Mingxue stopped the bike, Mrs. Qin jumped off.

She moved so hastily that she nearly fell.

Luckily, she managed to steady herself, but she still pulled a tendon in her foot.

"Mom, are you okay?"

Fu Mingxue asked with concern.

Mrs. Qin shook her head. "I’m fine."

They had no time to worry about anything else.

They went straight inside.

As they entered the main hall, they saw a large pool of blood on the floor.

The hearts of the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law sank. ’With that much blood, could the baby possibly be saved?’

Just then, Fu Mingxue noticed the two children.

They were standing frozen in a corner.

They looked helpless and terrified.

Fu Mingxue’s heart ached for them.

She walked over to them. "Yu Yu, Qiaoqiao, your auntie is here. Don’t be afraid—"

When the brother and sister saw it was her,

they suddenly burst into tears with a loud WAIL.

The younger one couldn’t stop crying.

The older one, wiping away tears, tried to explain himself. "Auntie, I didn’t mean to! It was an accident—"

His eyes were terribly red, and large tears streamed down his face.

He was clearly overwhelmed with helplessness and fear.

"Don’t cry. Just tell your auntie what happened."

Mrs. Qin had come over as well.

She asked, "Yu Yu, what exactly happened? How did you run into your Aunt Lan?"

"I... I didn’t do it on purpose. It was an accident."

The boy could only repeat the same thing between sobs. He had clearly never experienced anything like this before and was utterly terrified.
