"Honey!"

Qin Wenhao shouted the moment he pulled the door open.

His voice was a little loud, giving Fu Mingxue, who had just gotten out of the car, a fright.

"—You’re back too?"

Qin Wenhao gazed almost greedily at the face he had longed to see day and night.

He then suppressed his surging emotions and gave a restrained nod. "Yeah. Let’s go inside first."

He stepped forward and took the suitcase from his wife’s hands.

Fu Mingxue glanced at him, then said goodbye to the driver, reminding him to be careful driving at night.

Qin Wenhao didn’t rush inside either. He waited until the car drove away before entering the courtyard with Fu Mingxue.

"Honey, you must be hungry! I’ll go make you a bowl of noodles. You go take a shower first."

"You don’t need to cook anything. I ate dinner at the cafeteria, so I’m not hungry right now."

But she did need a shower.

She didn’t say much else to Qin Wenhao.

After returning to their room, she found a change of clothes and went to the bathroom to shower—

But Qin Wenhao made the noodles anyway.

Just then, Mrs. Fu, who had been asleep, heard the noise outside.

When she realized her daughter was back, her first instinct was to get up.

But then she remembered the young couple hadn’t seen each other in a long time, so it was probably best if she didn’t go out.

So, she lay back down.

Fu Mingxue washed her hair and showered. When she came out, she saw Qin Wenhao holding a bowl of noodles.

"Didn’t I tell you not to cook?"

Qin Wenhao looked at her and said, "It’s so late, you should eat something. If you can’t finish it, I’ll eat the rest."

Fu Mingxue was speechless. ’...?’

’Fine, I’ll eat,’ she thought. After all, he’d already made it.

In truth, the aroma of the noodles did whet her appetite.

"Get another bowl. I’ll give you half."

"I can just eat your leftovers—"

Fu Mingxue cut him off. "I’m not used to other people eating my leftovers. Hurry up and get one."

Qin Wenhao was taken aback. ’...?’

’How could he be "other people"? He was her husband, her lover.’

But since his wife had spoken, he could only agree.

After setting the noodles on the table, he went back to get another bowl and chopsticks.

He only scooped a small portion of the noodles into his bowl.

"You eat first. If you can’t finish, you can give it to me then."

Fu Mingxue was speechless again.

She didn’t argue with him about it anymore.

"You’re pretty good at making noodles."

She especially liked the shredded egg.

The two of them finished eating quickly.

Fu Mingxue asked him, "How long have you been back?"

As he cleaned up, Qin Wenhao replied, "I got back after you’d already been on your trip for a month."

"That’s still quite early. By the way, I have to go to Beijing City the day after tomorrow. I need to get back to my classes."

Fu Mingxue’s words left Qin Wenhao feeling bitter.

"You just got back from your trip, and you have to leave again? Shouldn’t you get some rest?"

"There’s no time to rest. If I don’t go back to class soon, the semester will be over."

It was already December 15th.

She probably wouldn’t even get a full month of classes in.

After all, the New Year was next month.

"This time, I plan on taking Mom and the two kids with me. We’ll celebrate the New Year in Beijing City this year."

Qin Wenhao was stunned. ’...?’

If you were to ask how he was feeling at that moment... he could only say that he was feeling awful.

The whole family would be gone, leaving him all alone.

Besides, he’d already used up all his vacation time. He didn’t even know if he’d get any time off for the New Year.

If he didn’t, it meant he wouldn’t be able to spend the holiday with his wife, kids, and mother-in-law.

"You’re leaving the day after tomorrow?" His words were thick with reluctance.

After all, this time he really couldn’t go back to Beijing with her.
