Chapter 430: Qin Wenhao Returns to Find His Wife Is Gone Again

  • Next Chapter

By the time Qin Wenhao returned from his mission, Fu Mingxue had already been on her business trip for a month.

The moment he walked through the gate, he shouted to his mother-in-law, who was playing with the two children in the courtyard, "Mom, I’m back!"

Mrs. Fu heard his voice and immediately turned her head. It wasn’t her imagination—her son-in-law was really home.

But his appearance gave her a huge shock. ’What has he been up to? How did he get so dark?’

If her eyesight hadn’t been so sharp, she might not have recognized him at all.

When Qin Wenhao saw his mother-in-law just staring, he called out again, "Mom, it’s me!"

Certain it was him, Mrs. Fu was overjoyed.

"Wenhao, you’re back!"

She quickly looked him over. Seeing that aside from his dark tan, none of his visible skin was injured, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"I’m back. Mom, this must’ve been hard on you. By the way, is Mingxue at the factory?" Qin Wenhao felt like he hadn’t seen his wife in ages.

He missed her desperately.

He couldn’t wait to see her.

Mrs. Fu shook her head. "No, she’s not at the factory. She went on a business trip to some kind of base. She’ll be gone for three months!"

’This couple hardly seems married at all,’ she thought.

Imagine going months without even seeing each other.

Qin Wenhao stood there, stunned.

"Well, never mind her. She’s busy with work. Are you hurt?"

Mrs. Fu’s words brought Qin Wenhao back to his senses. "Mom, I’m fine. I didn’t get hurt this time."

"As long as you’re not hurt. Go wash up, I’ll go make you something to eat."

"Mom, no need. I have to report in first, so I might be home late. Don’t wait up for me for dinner. I’m just dropping my stuff off and leaving; someone’s waiting for me outside."

He dropped his things in the main room.

Then he hurried out.

He didn’t even say hello to the two little ones.

Mrs. Fu was left speechless.

She sighed at the two little ones by her feet.

"Your father... here one minute, gone the next."

The two little ones had been frightened by the man who was as black as charcoal.

They had been hiding behind their grandmother just a moment ago.

Now, upon hearing the word "father," their eyes lit up. ’Daddy? Where?’

Qin Wenhao went to report on his mission.

「Two hours later, he was back home.」

The moment he walked through the door, he saw the untouched food on the table.

He immediately said, "Mom, why haven’t you eaten?"

"It’s not often you’re home, so I was waiting for you. Now, go wash your hands and eat."

Mrs. Fu had known he wouldn’t eat at the cafeteria.

’After all, reporting on a mission doesn’t take several hours, does it?’

At this, Qin Wenhao had no choice but to go wash his hands.

He returned to the dining table and sat down. A large bowl of rice was already placed in front of him.

It was a rich spread, with both fish and meat.

"Mom, please, stop fussing. Sit down and eat."

Mrs. Fu sat down and placed a large piece of meat in his bowl. "Eat more meat. Look how thin you’ve gotten."

Qin Wenhao chuckled.

’I’m not thin, I’m lean,’ he thought.

The two children had already eaten.

Mrs. Fu, afraid they would go hungry, had let them eat earlier.

Now, the twins stared at Qin Wenhao with great curiosity.

However, when his eyes met theirs, they immediately scurried behind their grandmother to hide.

Qin Wenhao was baffled.

After dinner, he stood up to clear the dishes, but Mrs. Fu, quick as a flash, stopped him.

"Don’t move. I’ll get it. You just got back; I can’t have you doing this."

"It’s alright, Mom. Let me. You’ve been working so hard for so long. It’s nothing for me to wash a few dishes—"

With that, Qin Wenhao deftly grabbed the dishes and headed for the well.

Mrs. Fu could only stare, dumbfounded.
