Mrs. Qin wasn’t the only one who didn’t believe it; Mr. Qin didn’t believe it either, of course.

However, he didn’t ask anything.

He simply said, "Alright, what matters is that you’re back safe. You haven’t eaten yet, have you? Go on and eat."

Qin Wenying grinned. "You’re still the one who cares about me. Unlike Mom, who just asks endless questions and doesn’t even care if her daughter is hungry."

Mrs. Qin: ...?

’This ungrateful child.’

’Wasn’t I more concerned about her well-being?’

"I’ll go have Aunt Li make you a bowl of noodles."

"Alright," Qin Wenying replied readily.

She wasn’t picky about food.

In that respect, she was quite like her younger brother, Qin Wenhao.

She turned to her sister-in-law, Fu Mingxue. "Don’t leave just yet. Wait for me, I have something to discuss with you. I’m going to head upstairs to shower and clean up first."

The moment Mrs. Qin heard she was going to shower, she grew anxious.

"Your arm is still injured, and so is your face! What are you thinking, taking a shower? Don’t you know you’re not supposed to get wounds wet?"

"Ms. Sheng, don’t overreact. You call this an injury? Come on. Now, go to the kitchen and tell Aunt Li to make me some noodles."

Before Mrs. Qin could stop her, she went straight inside and headed upstairs.

Mrs. Qin was absolutely fuming.

But she truly was at her wit’s end with this daughter of hers.

If she could do anything about it, she wouldn’t have let her daughter get this old without marrying.

Just then, Granny Qin spoke up, telling Mrs. Qin, "Alright, go talk to Sister in law Li. Have her add a couple of poached eggs for her."

Mrs. Qin had no choice but to head to the kitchen.

Fu Mingxue was no longer in a hurry to leave.

She went back into the living room.

"Dad, I’m going to make a quick call."

Mr. Qin replied at once, "This is your home too. Make whatever calls you need; you don’t have to ask. You can use the phone in my study."

Fu Mingxue shook her head. "That’s okay, it’s fine to make the call from here."

First, she called the First Auto Factory.

Director Liu on the other end picked up quickly. "Who’s speaking?"

"Director Liu, it’s Fu Mingxue. I’ll be coming over tonight around eight. Will you still be at the factory?"

As soon as Director Liu heard it was Fu Mingxue, he said, "I’m at the factory every evening. Coming late is no problem; I’m always here until I get off at eleven."

"Alright, then. That’s all for now."

Fu Mingxue didn’t say anything more and hung up.

Next, she dialed the number for the military base.

A communications officer answered the call.

Fu Mingxue identified herself and asked the officer to go get her mother. She said she would call back in five minutes.

After hanging up, the communications officer ran over to the family compound to find Mrs. Fu.

Mrs. Fu had already finished dinner and was just about to give her two children a bath when she heard a knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

She went to open the door. Seeing the young officer from communications, she had a feeling her daughter had called.

"Ma’am, there’s a phone call from Fu Mingxue. She asked for you to come take it."

Hearing that it was indeed her daughter calling, Mrs. Fu was overjoyed.

"Alright, I’ll be over in a moment."

’It wouldn’t be right to keep asking the neighbors to watch the two children,’ she thought. So she simply strapped one to her back and carried the other in her arms.

And off she went to take the call.

Fu Mingxue’s call came through again just as she arrived.

After confirming who it was for, the officer handed the receiver to Mrs. Fu.

"Mom, it’s me, Mingxue."

Mrs. Fu was speechless. ’Seriously? Who else would it be?’

"What’s the matter?"

"Mom, I’m coming back tomorrow."

"Alright, got it. By the way, what time does your train get in? I’ll come pick you up."
